Sad to have to down my own but I'll never bank here again... Customer service Lady Maria was terrible ... They send out late notification about money being withdrawn . You have to jump through hoops about your own money ... limited branches

Oneunited bank has made my elderly mother jump through hoops to get HER MONEY after closing her a checking and savings account on 12/14/23. The check they allegedly sent for the savings account never was received. We've called no less then 4 times. Still no check reissued. Instead of calling my mother they're sending EMAILS. THE CHECKUNG account check was sent ( thsnk you), we deposited the check THEN ONEUNITED put a stop on the check. THIS IS NUTZ.

They have great customer service inside the the bank. My problem with this bank is I made a deposit inside the bank to cover some checks I had out. Because I had been overdrawn before the place my check on a 7 day hold. Which caused my other checks to bounce which is eating up the deposit. When I called customer service it was explained to me that the payments would clear. That was not the case. I called back and was told that I had to call the business and asked them not to submit the payments. I asked them could they take the hold off the check as this is causing a financial hardship. They informed me no. There's a other problems with this bank. I want to support this bank because it's a black own bank but I will closing my account.

UPDATE!! So if you saw my review about ONEUNITED BANK, you read that I had horrible service from the customer service reps in the call center. Well after over two months of going back and forth with them trying to activate my bank card I decided to just go inside the bank. The bank is nice and clean on the inside which was a plus. I was called to the window immediately which is great! I sat and spoke to Brittany Jones who was pleasant to speak to I must say. I told her I was frustrated and why, she calmed me down telling me she's going to take care of me. She had me call and activate my card over the phone with her. You now have a half of a happy customer. I must say Brittany saved the day because I was ready to close the account and find another institution. OnUnited Bank definitely needs more people like Brittany working on the phones. The phone reps are bad for business trust me I know. I thanked Brittany and told her I would be updating my yelp review because of her great service. If I need anything in the future I would be going to bank and asking for Brittany where I know the service will be A1!

They are consistently inconsistent when it comes to great service, banking knowledge & professionalism! Horrible, I'd rather bank with a non-black bank!

I really hate to say it because there are very few black owned banks but this one is terrible. The daily spending limit is low so you have to call in advance for any larger expenses like vehicle repairs. Found that out the hard way. Not sure where they get these customer service reps but they all seem to be unprofessional. Deposits and transfers from this bank to others takes forever!!! Most of the time the transaction isn't even complete in the same week and they obviously must not consider Saturday a business day so good luck with transactions after Thursday. With my other banks, transactions are instant or next day....They're quick to charge multiple overdraft fees of $37 even when you have a pending deposit for that same day. You can cover your negative balance that same day and the overdraft fees will still remain. The state in which I reside doesn't have a branch so I can't do anything in person or do things like deposit money thru the atm. I was excited to join this institution but unfortunately it's just not a good look and very disappointing to us minorities and doesn't seem to be improving. I will definitely be closing my account in the very near future. This institution has a long way to go and a lot to learn.

It's sad to write a review about this bank Especially because it is a black-bank, and I am a black woman. The representatives talk to you as if they are friends with attitude. If they don't like the question you are asking, they get an instant attitude. One rep named Lanelle kept saying...okay, okay, as I was telling her my issue, and then there was Danita they overtalked me and said she was "just a customer service rep" Wow I thought that was a lot at the bank dealing with people's money. My card has been declined 5 times and they do not know why they said a card ticket needed to be submitted. Wow, this is day 2 of not being able to use my card including Zelle. So they are just holding my money. Also, I used my card more than I had available within 2 minutes an NSF fee was charged "WHAT" It was charged before I could transfer money over from another bank...what happened to the end of the business day? One rep said yes that is an ongoing issue with the bank they are working on fixing we have a lot of customers that complain about that (she was very professional at least), Morgan! How can we as black people support black dollars if this is the kind of treatment we are receiving from our own people? We as a people need to do better and as a black bank, the culture of the bank should be better.

What bank do you know that doesn't provide after hours customer service??? You can only speak to someone during business hours and that's if you're lucky enough to catch a rep. They're also extremely slow inside their branch. I'm really considering closing this account.

If I could give it zero stars I would. I went to this bank in an attempt to give them my business when we refinanced our home. Unfortunately, I waited for 2.5hrs and nobody ever assisted me, so I left. I drove from the SFV to this bank. It was a COMPLETE waste of my time.

My late father was an account holder at the Bank. Per your guidelines, I reported his death via email, along with supporting documentation via email on January 22, 2022 in order settle his small account balance. No action was ever taken and now I get a bank statement showing you have been charging a deceased client a monthly in activity fee (for how long I am not sure). I spoke with a customer service person this week who informed my the the death certificate and other documents I submitted over a year ago are still under review!! - Please close out this account and reimburse any account activity fees that have been charged since the notification.

1 star only because it's required to write a review. This is the worst bank in the world. They are predators. Totally unacceptable and unqualified to handle money. I have filed a complaint with FDIC. So many issues and every time I call I get no solutions. I broke my debit card and had to go into the one location they have in the state to replace it because nothing I do in the app ever works. They took 30min to get the money I was trying to withdrawal and put in and order for a new card. I wanted to verify they have the correct address to send the new card to and that took another 15min. Later they sent a text with a digital debit card that did not work. So couldn't pay bills or feed my child unless I went all the way back to the bank. It's not that far but I needed brakes at the time and was supposed to get them fixed but my debit card being broken I couldn't finance and had to pay cash. So to get back to the bank to get the cash I ended up paying $125 for Lyfts there and back and $509 out of pocket for my brakes. Because they couldn't get the card to work or issue another. Then when I closed the account they allowed funds to going to the account for 3 weeks. My payroll was still going to the account and then they just closed the account randomly and my payroll was sent back causing all of my other bills and my ability to move for graduate school to be delayed until I could locate my payroll. Of course the bank had no answers why the account I closed, in person, had stayed open for weeks and then why they decided to all of the sudden close it. WTF do better black people. Shame shame shame on you one united.

Even though it may take a hit to my credit score, I’m going to cancel my Unity Visa. The hassle is not worth it. Other credit card companies have an easy to use app. Sign in with facial recognition, set up auto pay and you’re done. Here it’s a hassle to sign in and there’s no autopay. When you call they send you back and forth in a circle between Unity Visa and One United. I just found out there’s a speedpay that works if you get it by 5pm EST. And that’s when you remember to pay it. There’s no reason for this company to be so far behind.
