I have never encountered such unprofessionalism ever in my life as a person in as someone that has curly hair. I went to Rehab Salon in hopes of finding a curly hair specialist to help me improve the definition of my curls, add more volume in my hair, and find ways to improve hair's health as a whole. However, thanks to Shun (who was my stylist): MY HAIR WAS RUINED. I was supposed to get a hair consultation first but she almost didn't do so and was going to wash it until I stopped her before we began. I showed her pictures from previous years until now and asked her if my hair lacked protein or moisture, but she said that my hair was not damaged and apparently my curls got "bigger" which is why they're not "as tight as they used to be," I asked her what we will be doing since I was on a budget at the time, and she said that she was going to wash and cut my hair only which I agreed to. Well, she ends up doing a treatment without my permission and I had to call her out because I was not notified of this. Any client getting a service MUST be asked if they want a treatment for their hair before applying it to ensure they are paying for what they wanted. She said it was a scalp conditioning treatment to condition my roots in order to moisturize my curls, so I just let it slide this time and let her do her own thing considering she's the "professional" who knows how to take care of curly hair. After the treatment is done, she doesn't even diffuse my hair for one minute and blows dries the rest of my hair down. Curly hair is meant to be diffused for a long period of time, not blow dried straightforward because otherwise it will be straightened in the process. She then cuts my hair and finishes with a spray to make my hair shiny, but when she showed me the mirror: I was devastated. For $90, Shun made my hair look like I had brushed it out harshly and it was so dry that you could literally see my split ends. Shun stated that she "tried" everything to revive my hair but that, and I quote, "you don't have curly hair: you have straight, fine, caucasian hair. I washed your hair and it was straight when it got wet, and curly hair doesn't straighten in water. Regardless of the treatments, this is the best I can do unless you want me to go shorter." I knew this was a lie because when I wash my hair, my curls become wavy in the shower and then curl up when I diffuse them. She didn't diffuse my hair or do anything asides from blow dry it and cut it so badly that my split ends worsened. It was just the fact that she first said my curls were getting bigger and then contradicting herself saying that I don't have curly hair. I kept telling her that I do have curly hair and that I showed her pictures of my hair again, but she literally kept reinforcing and insisting that I have "white, caucasian, straight, fine hair," She asked one more time if I was in favor of her cutting my hair to "make it curlier," but I instantly refused and said no. I was so heartbroken that I didn't bother fighting back right there concerning her insensitive comments and behavior so I ran home crying, showered, and called her manager to report what happened. The manager claims Shun was sorry but that apparently there was a "miscommunication issue," because I wasn't speaking up about what I wanted. I told her everything and how regardless I tried to communicate with her, she kept insisting my hair is fine, caucasian, and straight. The manager said, "At least you got your refund," but I was so heartbroken and traumatized from the whole experience that I don't think I'll be able to go to any hair salon for months. These pictures below show how my hair is normally and after going to the salon. Literally, you can see the picture on the left side of how my hair normally is. While yes, it is fine and not thick curly hair: It is CURLY, not straight. On the right side, here is a magnificent photo I took of Shun's work an

I meant to post this months ago! I wanted to post all these pictures but I just realized that it looks like Google reviews doesn’t take images. Anyway, I got a short cut from Shun (she specializes in short cuts so if you’re interested in that I’d recommend booking with her). Really loved it! Wish I could post the proof, haha. I like how the short curls frame my face. Very fun and cute and sophisticated. Received many compliments about the cut. Oh, and the very next day after the cut I was at a bar and met this woman who ended up asking me to model for her clothing line, haha. Anyway, I had good experience. Shun was really sweet and I really liked everyone at the salon. Definitely worth going!Service: Haircut

I must say, this was the worst haircut I have ever gotten. Period. I rarely ever write negative reviews because I always want to give businesses, and people, the benefit of the doubt. But after a few days of looking at myself and being utterly upset, I decided I didn't want anyone else to suffer this same fate. I walked in this past Friday evening and was greeted by Tina, the stylist who ultimately botched my hair. I gave her a picture of the style I wanted (see the photo below of me smiling!) and I told her that I just wanted it a little shorter than before but I wanted the same style. She obliged. Throughout the session she was heavily distracted with some personal matter on the phone. She frequently stopped to text and call and it made me a bit weary of her handling my hair but, nonetheless, I trusted her. This was, after all, a Black establishment adorned with beautiful Black art, the atmosphere punctuated by Afro beats. I thought to myself, there's no way I could leave here unhappy! I'm in good hands. I couldn't have been more wrong. She began by cutting my hair with clippers and asking me strange questions like "do you want me to cut half or just trim??" and proceeded to talk me into believing I should get it way shorter so that it's easier it manage. Usually my stylist don't ask me binary questions like this, they just ask me what length I want to keep and give me options. But she seemed bent on having me cut it shorter. Anyway, I foolishly obliged. So, as she was shaping my hair I couldn't see what was happening because I was turned away from the mirror. It wasn't until the end where I realized she shaped my hair to make me look like a cone-head. She kept the top long, which was not what I wanted and the the finger curls she gave me looked like worms growing from the top of my head. And she cut it way way shorter than what I wanted. And she kept telling me it was "fine" that it was short, instead of listening to me or reading my concerns. I don't care that you think/thought it was fine. Your opinion means nothing when I leave cause it's my face that has to wear this head. And this whole thing cost me more than $100. Anyway. I smiled and left, but never never ever again will I go to Tina again.

I brought my partner here. The salon is in the back of a lovely and cute shop with crystals, incense and handmade jewelry by Aklia. The space had a good vibe and good music. Aklia was super sweet and welcoming and did a beautiful job with a palm roll and styling of my partner's locs for a wedding we came into town for. Would recommend it.

Super late for my review but I got a silk press done almost a month ago by Shun and my hair is STILL pressed and silk (some how my edges haven't reverted so you know she did an amazing job). I had an amazing time! Shun taught me about my hair during my appointment, she is NOT scissor happy so rest assured your hair is in good hands during your trim as well and the place is an amazing vibe with great conversation. Definitely recommend! They also have various stylists so you know you'll be in good hands and they do care about you :) If its your first time it is the red building

Caro braided my hair and I'm so pleased with the results. She did a great job overall and took way less time to do my hair than I thought she would. I'll definitely be back.

TLDR; a stylist completely botched my color causing spotted hair and permanent processed damage to my ends and they only offered me a small partial refund. Do not go there for color. The photos speak for themselves. As a couple of people have written I found this salon online/IG and I was excited to find a good black hair salon in LA, I also do not take the time to write reviews unless I feel extremely wronged, as was with this experience. I had to push back my appointment due to work, so when I rescheduled I was told I could see a different stylist, who was just as great as the owner Christina at color. I was the first appointment of the day and no one was there at 9AM, nor gave me a heads up they were late- I genuinely thought the shop must be closed and I got the wrong day. She showed up around 9:15 and after she explained traffic made her late I said no worries, but I also had work that day. Of course I would never imply to rush my hair so much that it was botched/damaged. I only wanted a few simple money pieces of light-ish blonde around my face because I already had color in my hair. She went with balayage and as soon as she washed out the color it was a brassy orange (not blonde or close). She said the toner would fix it and I trusted her. After blowing it out not only was the color still incredibly orange but it was blotchy, like spotted cheetah print/feathers from 2011 blotchy. She didn't point this out to me, she let me discover it in the mirror, said it was because she didn't know I had a middle part/because I had curly hair and I could come back to have it fixed, but I was going out of town that night. When I got home I saw the extent of the damage (which surely she saw when blow drying) - the splotchiness was everywhere, the balayge went way to far up to the root looking like awkward blunt highlights and my ends were beyond bleached to white/platinum (when she started blowing it out I said "oh my god are these grey hairs??" it was so white). The salon though cute isn't very organized when it comes to managing their phones so I had to speak to multiple people when dealing with this issue who gave me different information, and though Christina got back to me there was lots of back and forth just for me to get a $65 refund for about $170 total when they list color as $75 minimum on their website. Overall, despite offering me a free service (who goes back to a new salon who botched their hair for more treatment? And a stylist I trust told me no more heat on my hair because my ends are severely damaged and need to be cut asap so I asked what non heat or chemical services they even offer and was never told), I was very disappointed with how they handled this. And will not go back.

I don't EVER bother writing yelp reviews. But I have never ever felt so disrespected and let down when trying to get my hair done. I was referred to Tina through a relative who helped me arrange the appointment, since I am a full time film student and there are no black hair salons near my school. I was told "oh, she's a little flaky". And it seemed so when she pushed back my appointment by a week. That wasn't the end of the world because I understand that things happen and sometimes rescheduling is necessary. But I was appalled and livid when I drove over two hours from Goleta to Los Angeles (after sitting in traffic) and was told that my appointment was canceled less than an hour before. To her credit, she "tried" to contact her braider to see if he could take me. Regardless, the fact is - are you really a good hairstylist if you can't manage your appointments and treat your clientele with respect? This was truly a waste of time and gas and in this case, the great quality of work I have heard she accomplishes does not remotely match her customer service.

Tina takes care of my curls and looks out for their best interest lol. I go here regularly for my trims every few months. These are real down-to-earth people here. Wait times can be a little long but it's worth it. Ask for Tina for a curly cut or trim. That's her specialty.

I had a scheduled appointment with Christina at 11:00 and by the time I was seen it was 3:00 it was my first time going to a salon and it will be my last. But her being late wasn’t the only problem she also tried to rip me off by asking me to pay 430 dollars for hair that cost 45 dollars. I wanted my hair to look good for my birthday and now I’m just very disappointed and really would really appreciate it if they fix my hair or give me a refund.
