I came in and bought a skateboard which needed grip tape but when I got it done they completely put it on horribly and then expected me to accept that mess. This is a horrible skateboard shop. Never coming back again!!!

If I could give 10 stars or more I would !! If your a parent and know nothing about skateboards and your kid ask you please drive here and you won't regret it, they will treat you like you have never been treated before, you and your kiddo will come out with so much knowledge, they not only showed us their recommendations as a big inner but they also showed my son all the parts of a skateboard and showed him how to out it together , aside from that they tested him in the parts and gave him a free t shirt . I wish more shops like this existed , thank you Jerry you guys have a customer for life

LOVE this shop! First of all, The Garage Board Shop offers programs and services that encourage education and provides a safe, productive and creative outlet for the nearby inner-city youth. On top of that, it's an amazing skate shop! I love that they are built on these principles and congrats to them for making it work. I was on the West side debating if I trek out to East LA, but I'm super happy I made the right choice to come here!My experience was amazing from when I first stepped in. I was greeted and asked if I needed any help. Shoutout to Jocelyn!!! (or Josephine) She was super helpful, patient and had her skateboard knowledge locked in! I walked in thinking to swap my longboard wheels on a regular sized skateboard, but she quickly let me know that it wouldn't work and offered multiple options to me. She explained I could add risers to a regular deck or buy a longboard deck. (It's also one of the few places that sells longboard decks) I was super grateful for this help and glad I didn't just go on Amazon and buy a deck because I wouldn't have known! I was super impressed with Jocelyn's service and knowledge, she helped me to finally settle on getting a new skate deck with risers & big wheels meant for cruising. They also let you ride up and down the shop to really get a feel for the board - which is genius! It's important to know what you like and don't like when buying a skateboard, especially if it's your first time. After purchasing the deck, the A+ service continued! They offer free services to assemble the board & wheels and put grip tape on. I also got my bearings cleaned for free which was super nice. Before leaving, Jocelyn let me know about a promo for a free tshirt and threw in a couple stickers! My experience at East LA's Garage shop was 11/10. The service is great, staff is really knowledgeable and there to help you. As a skate shop, they're amazing but they go above and beyond because they encourage education and provide a safe haven to foster the development of the inner-city youth. They offer programs and services every day of the week, providing a consistent environment for learning and growth, and are an integral part of the East LA Community.I'll be back again and again to support this shop and their cause!

After hearing my cousin (whom has been homless for a year), say that this place is great for free food. I decided to accompany him. I will agree the food is better than other places but, definitely not free. They ask for a donation. Which got me off guard. Good thing I only had $3 in my pocket. Assuming the guy who likes to lift his collar for "helping the community" is the owner. He doesn't treat everyone equally. He instructs everyone not to park in the alley next to the shop, yet a buddy shows up, not only does he blocks the alley's driveway, he parks the wrong way on a one way alley. Walks in to the shop taking approx. 5 -10 min, comes out with some equipment and was not told a single thing by "the owner". On the contrary they both were having a buddy talk and was even offered some Juice. Meanwhile a woman who had already loaded her food and ready to leave was stuck and 4 cars behind her honking for her to move. Yet "the owner" said nothing. Once it was our turn to get our food. I brought my car to do a quick load. As I pulled up my cousin loaded a box and went back to get the rest. I was there no more than 5 min and "the owner" starts telling I can't park in the alley, that it's a drive thru only and I shouldn't block the alley. He then gets close to my window and starts telling me again. When I brought up his buddy's blocking the driveway he immediately said that he wasn't his buddy. Sounds like a lack of respect to his community and equal treatment.

Called my best friend this Friday to meet up for coffee but she told me that she was at the GARAGE. She told me to swing by so I did. Noticed they were having the food drive then wasted no time & decided to jump in on the action. They have these food drives twice a week. Things are expensive nowadays so if you're in the area on fridays... stop on by! Why not? If you don't need the food then maybe you might know someone who does. Perhaps, someone who isn't Mobil, an elderly or maybe even someone who isn't as fortunate. You can bless anyone who might have a hungry tummy. #doagooddeedfortheday #itsfreefood It was such a pleasure meeting the lovely couple who run the Garage. Bless their souls. As soon as I stepped into the place I got an idea of how much they are involved with the youth & the community + all the well deserved recognition....ART GALORE! OUTSIDE: Can't miss the art on the building. Along with the bus that's usually parked in front. It's located on Whittier blvd / Atlantic on the same side as the sketcher store. If you pass the sketcher store, ya went too far INSIDE: you'll see art that the kids have made, shirts, bags, everything that has to do with skating, stickers, boards and so so so much more. This spot deserves a 10 Hope to be part of another food drive. Ps. THANK YOU FOR THE T-SHIRTS MY BROTHER REALLY LIKED HIS
