I had a hankering for Jamaican food and wanted to try something authentic. This place intrigued me because it had oxtail, goat curry and ackee. I got there on the late side -- it closes at 6:00 pm, so not much was still available. Ackee and saltfish, oxtail, and chicken were all that was left. I'm not a big beef person, so I went with one order of ackee and an order of j*** chicken, hoping there would be enough for my boyfriend and me to share entrees. Boy, was I right! The plates came with peas and rice, vegetables, and fried plantains and the portions filled the entire box.

This is a small place hidden behind the McDonald's. I got takeout, but there were a few other folks sitting at the half dozen tables. The place is clean with nice ambiance, a Jamaican map and a few posters on the walls. The combo curried goat and j*** chicken plate is what I got. It came with plantain and rice and peas. My friend and I ended up splitting this for lunch, since the portions were pretty big. All the flavors and spices and the side of sauce to pour on J*** chicken tasted great. Also got a bottle of Ting, a soda I'd heard of from friends who drank it on Caribbean dive trips. You'll have to settle for exotic soda as they don't have a license for alcohol.

Gluten free friendly!! Employees were very friendly and helpful. The meat portion size is big! Their corn bread is gluten free and vegan and is so good!! The rice and beans and plantains were ok but wasn't a huge fan. I would still definitely come here again!

I dislike leaving poor reviews on limited experience, but it's worth warning folks that the restaurant's timing seems to run on a very flexible interpretation of time. We arrived 30 minutes past their stated opening hours (11:30am on Sunday) only to find that their doors were shut despite an "OPEN" sign in the window. After trying to figure out if we messed up, a lady comes out to unlock the door only to say briefly "I'm not ready to open yet, come back 12 or 12:30, okay?" before scuttling back inside without another word. I wasn't going to just wait around for a vague promise of opening eventually, so of course I went somewhere else instead. I try to be understanding of circumstances, but judging by some reviews, this isn't unheard of for this place. I'll give them another chance down the road, but this was not a good first impression.

I just finished my lunch, a plate of oxtails, with rice and peas, steamed cabbage and fried plantains. Sublime. I'll be back for more next time I'm in town.

I've been here a couple of times and I get the Oxtail Plate every time. It comes with rice, cabbage, super delicious plantains, j*** chicken, and heavenly oxtail stew. The stew is very clearly work and time intensive to make: the meat simply melts in your mouth. After the first time I had it, I was fairly sure they couldn't duplicate that oxtail. But it has been perfectly consistent each time I've gone. I would go way more often but it's not cheap: $20 for the plate. I don't mind paying the price, it's worth it. I just can't afford to go too often.

Really poor experience- placed an order on Caviar- when I got to the restaurant, the lady at the front was super rude and did not even want to look at the placed order and kept saying that they were not honoring Caviar orders. It was a really poor experience and am not coming back again.

The employees seemed friendly and kind, however when it came to the quality of the food we were disappointed. After ordering, it took a very long time to receive our meal, though the place was empty. The portion sizes were relatively small for the price, and considering the flavor, the meal was not worth the price at all. The food was extremely bland, all except for a touch of hot spice. The mean was too dry, rice/beans had no seasoning, and the greens were also flavorless. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Proper Jamaican food. Everything is fantastic: the goat curry, ackee and saltfish, j*** chicken, callaloo, plantains, rice and peas.... My go-to spot when I want a taste of home.

SCAMMERS! I was born and raised in Jamaica but now live in Norcal and I was looking for some good authentic Jamaican food. My family from Jamaica was in town so I decided to call and ask how much it would be to cater for 8 people. The woman, the owner, guaranteed me that for $240 she would be able to cater and I would even have some left overs. I pay the FULL price and go to get my food without checking to my mistake. When I get home to serve everything I come to find that the only thing thag could feed 8 people was the bland pan of rice and peas I was given. The curry goat was not cut whatsoever and it did not have any flavor let alone curry. It was also only about three pieces. The oxtail was the exact same as it was bland and there was literally THREE pieces. When i called to complain about not getting the $240 worth of food i paid for in full, she said I could come back and she would give me more food. Keep in mind it was a 45 minute drive for me to even get it so I declined. She then told me she would “refund some of my money” but its been weeks and I have yet to see it. Save yourself the heartache and money. These are clearly the jinal jamaicans.

I'm sorry it's a no go for me. I love j*** chicken and not sure what happened the day I went but that food was not made with love. It tasted nothing like j**** I can make better j*** and I'm Jamaican. I really wanted to like it and support them but I just can't. I love spicy flavorful food and this was not cutting it. For a second I thought I had covid. ? coconuts is way better for pretty much the same price and better ambiance.

Much better than that supposed Jamaican spot in Palo Alto. Spice and flavor level much better! I'm from Jersey, and worked many years in NY so Jamaican food runs in my blood. My company ordered Reggae Pot for lunch and it was bomb. I had the curry chickpeas dish. Came with rice, cabbage, and scotch bonnet (?) sauce. I def wanna visit in person soon!
