Nice place, nice people, food was kinda a let down. Carne was dry and overcooked, tortilla was greasy and cracked... Burrito was too much rice and beans, not enough

This place has disappointed time and time again. Some food should not be served out of that kitchen.

Haven't been there in a while but the food is as good as ever. They even had Birria, which was a surprise to me and it was delicious.

"El Amigo" translates to friend in English. Let me assure you, this place is far from anything resembling an amigo of mine. As I write this review, I'm reminded of the look of bewilderment on a would-be patron as he attempted to open the front door. A door, as it turns out, that calls for the strength of an amateur heavy weight strong man competitor to open. As I approached the front entrance, the poor befuddled gentleman who was attempting to open the unforgiving beast of a door had already surrendered to its cold motionless stature. I made an attempt...then another, and another - nothing. I stood there, with my hand resting lifelessly on the door, feeling like a fool. While staring at the door, I re-read the business hours sign. We had arrived well within operating hours. I cupped my hands and peaked through the window expecting to see the lights off with no one inside. What I felt when I looked inside is what I can only assume Dorothy felt when she caught a glance behind the green curtain in the Wizard of Oz: two employees, acting like they were busy, hoping we wouldn't have the strength to breach the mighty door. I'd had enough; I grabbed the door and with one violent pull ripped it open. Years of starting rotting lawn mowers had prepared me for that very moment. Once my new friend from the parking lot and I had finally made it inside (after bonding from the trauma we had just experienced) I was accosted by an employee who looked like a Wish.com version of Mac Miller and Pete Davidson. "What's up?" he said, quite lackadaisically. "I'd like a burrito supreme" I said, already anticipating trouble ahead. Unfortunately my order fell on deaf ears as the Mariachi music on the loud speakers had been turned up to level 500. After repeating my order five times, my order was in. The Mac-Davidson hybrid took my credit card payment and walked away without any acknowledgment, not even a "thank you". Since the music in the restaurant was louder than a Somali war zone, I decided to go outside. Once outside, I sat down and was greeted with what I can only hope was the remnants of someone's spilled horchata. The only reason I rate El Amigo with two stars instead of one is because the burrito wasn't too bad. Either way, this place used to be good, and now it isn't. Do better El Amigo. Until next time.

What we ordered (Chili Verde and Beans and rice Burritos were the absolute best in Madera! No lie. You gotta try this place its Maderas best. The staff was outstanding, went beyond the norm, went out of the way to make us something that they do not normally serve. Not gonna tell cuz its special to us!! Go enjoy the food you will not be disappointed.Vegetarian options: Made my beans, cheese and rice burrito with no questions or hassle.Parking: Lots of parking

My Son's favorite place for good soft tacos. I like their Camarones a la diabla. Nice friendly service. Although, don't go unless you are prepared to scream your order across the counter or when you are trying to talk to anyone at your table. The last couple of times I've been there, they play the music extremely loud so NOT at place for babies nor for chatting with anyone as you eat. I think the music is meant to discourage anyone from staying long. Just get your food and go!

Sad that I'm writing this because I used to love this place. But service is just gone. Every time I get home with my order it's wrong. They just don't listen. Probably the last time I'll be going here again.
