I love this store especially their signature candle. I give it as a gift often because the scent is so lovely and it burns forever. They always have new merchandise there whenever I go in which is so nice- never feels stale even if it's all a similar aesthetic. They actually have some really special items for your home that you can't find elsewhere- def a great spot to buy gifts and they gift wrap very pretty too if you need!

This is my new favorite home design/gift shop and their staff is very friendly. I am in love with their signature fragrance, Malibu. It comes in the form of a candle or oil diffuser. I purchased the oil diffuser and my living room smells like gardenias now. It's intoxicating.

I stopped by here yesterday while on a road trip with my family. The people working there were incredibly pretentious and rude. I came in the store twice and not one of them ever acknowledged me or offered any help. They had a huge sign outside that said Sidewalk Sale 70% off. I grabbed a couple items and asked if they were 70% off and the girl said "no" in a very snarky tone. "Only items on the table." It was a classic case of up-selling BS. Not at all apologetic. Needless to say I put the items back & left. The people there have zero social skills. Shouldn't be in retail. I'll certainly never go back. Not the kind of people I want to give my money to.

This store is delightful. I enjoy shopping here throughout the year. It is obvious from the moment that you walk in that a talented designer is at the helm. It's a challenge to walk in and walk out without buying something. If you're shopping for your home or looking for a gift in Malibu, Room at the Beach is not to be missed.

Expected more of a boutique retail shopping experience when I visited Room at the Beach last week and was underwhelmed with their merchandise assortment and disjointed customer check-out process. The Associate who assisted me seemed confused by their point of sale system (as did the owner of the store who tried to assist). What should have been an easy check-out process lasted ten minutes. The best part of my experience at this gift shop was leaving.

This is a fabulous store with a clean Southern California design. Many pieces of furniture and accessories are unique and beautifully chosen and displayed in the store. I received a gift certificate from a Silent Auction for a consultation. I received an hour visit, and a follow up email. The email included my comments... and three or four suggestions from the designer like new wastebasket, towel bar, frame photo. My expectation was that I would receive a broad comment like, "Based on my initial visit, I could see a color scheme that might include...and a style that might resemble....". This is a design comment that would lead me to sign or not sign a contract. I did not receive this. When I spoke to Elizabeth, she outlined the process, different from my conversation with the designer who came to my home. She also referred to " my husband and I could choose items...". She clearly did not remember that my husband died of ALS two years ago and that was one of the reasons to remodel. When this was mentioned she quickly ended the conversation. I am sure she is talented, but as a potential client, sadly, I did not feel confidant in contracting for services when there was little attempt to work with the client.

The staff there is really racist. She said my dog was going to expire when she saw my face because I'm Asian.

Room at the Beach is a great place to find "beachy decor" at reasonable prices. They make some of their own pieces of furniture, so customization isn't a problem. The guy who owns the place knows his vendors, their catalogs and different "looks" off of the top of his head. We have purchased several pieces of furniture as well as accessories in the store. All have been durable with no issues. There's a ton of merchandise in a small spot, so some trips, I will actually traverse the store 3-4 times before finding the "ah-hah" piece. Excellent service and reasonable prices.

On a recent trip to one of my favorite haunts in Malibu I found this shop. The spot it's located in has had over 5 different vendors over the past few years, but I have a feeling Room at the Beach is going to be a huge success. The sales gal knew her customers by name and what new items to point out, she was helping a celebrity when I walked in. The store is filled with home accessories and decor with a beach theme. Even though I do not own a home with this theme in mind I found a multitude of items I knew I "needed". You will find knick knacks of course, but there is also tableware that is very suitable for outdoor living or for those who have young kids and would like to avoid breakage. Everything is very classy and trendy. The melamine dish set was beautiful to look at but more surprisingly weighted. I know I have found a must check out shop every time I am in the "Bu". Note: it is located next door to Nobu's and Tony's Taverna, two of my favorite food spots!!
