Where ever you may be being, you don't arrive there alone. Surrounding you are people who've had hands on your shoulder nudging you as you pass through one phase of life into the next. Maybe those people have always been there. Maybe you've put them there. Maybe it has been you alone all along. And perhaps just maybe, those who surround you have an interest in keeping you right where you are now; in the same place you were yesterday. This is true for everyone in any circumstance; in any walk of life. Yet, don't we all wish we can touch upon a bell to call upon our best selves? And should you find yourself in the depths of despair with your health or in other aspects of your life, you need a new cast of characters to surround yourself with. And that is the best part of any good Crossfit gym; the people you'll be surrounded by. All working on the same mission you have: to bring forth that best self that lurks within yourself. They shall inspire and befriend you. You will look forward to seeing them and shall share in each others successes. And soon, you shall inspire and befriend others. As "the rest of those who have come before us, cannot steady the unrest of those to follow." The coaches at Excel are all fantastic. Brutal when the call is for tough love (and it is called for often with me). Insightful when calibration is needed (which is on the daily it seems). They are all leaders and I entrust them in leading me from the depths of my poor health. Each one having nuances in delivery of their guidance. I heed it all. Whether it is in the moment, carried into the next WoD, or extended into other aspects of life. I know they are looking out for me and also want to see that best self lurking within. And so they are always always always encouraging and recognize what successes I achieve, however big or small. Beyond the Crossfit coaches, my yoga instructors are nothing short of world class. For a man like me short-limbed, stocky as I am built, with the flexibility of a iron fence post, it was quite a milestone for me standing at 5'5" and close to 220lbs, to bend over from the waist and to be able to touch the floor. Albeit, with my feet a little beyond shoulder width apart. I know keeping up with yoga, my instructors shall turn me into a pretzel someday. I also know it is a tall order, for my yoga instructors and for me :). Beyond the people and instruction at Excel, the facilities and features of the gym blow my mind. I have been a member of one other Crossfit gym 12 years ago. I have dropped into many more during that time. None of the other Crossfit boxes' features and facilities I have worked out at compare to Excel. The aforementioned yoga presides within the same box, all with the same membership dues! And that box is huge! When most Crossfit boxes have just enough room for a single rig, Excel has 4 with plenty of room to spare. There are almost always more C2 rowers than attendees in class. The same holds true with the bikes. Never a shortage of bars, weights, or kettlebells. I've never had to get in line to change into workout clothes. There are restrooms and separate locker rooms with showers! And the Excel Body Scan van tops it all off. I had one free scan for being a new member and the data it provided me really let me know where I am at as I reach towards my fitness goals (the road is going to be long one). But I intend to leverage the bodyscan every 4 months to keep myself on track. It is a dynamic aspect of Excel Health & Fitness that I can't think exists at many other gyms, let alone Crossfit boxes. It speaks to the investment the owners have committed to for their members. My membership at Excel started on 6/1/2023. At the time of this writing, 3.5 months later (9/17/2023), I have scraped away 33lbs from my formerly obese 216lb body and am now down to 183lbs. None of that would have been possible by myself alone and that is perfectly ok to admit to myself. Remember, where ever we may be being, we do not arrive there alone. It is also ok to admit

If you're considering starting crossfit or looking to join a new gym, Excel should be your number one choice. I never really did crossfit before and I had been needing to get back into working out, so I decided to test the waters with Excel. Everyone there is very welcoming and friendly, including members. Coaches are very helpful and ultimately want to see you hit your goals whatever they may be. They even put on events to bring everyone together and do things outside of just working out.I moved here from out of state earlier this year and this was the best decision I made because I gained a community of people with like-minded values and goals.

It doesn’t matter if you have experience in CrossFit or not, at Excel the coaches will work with you. It’s a safe place to workout. Coaches are friendly and approachable, you can ask for modifications and they will guide you through movements that best fit.Excel also offers a gymnastics class on Tuesday nights and Olympic weightlifting class on Thursday nights. Both are great because they go into depth on certain movements and how to activate certain muscle groups.

In the beginning I was nervous going into Crossfit knowing how intense trainings were by watching games on tv. The first time I walked in and did on-ramp I was still pretty nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Going into the actual class was also scary knowing how others have already been doing crossfit for awhile. But people here are soo nice and helpful and I eventually fell in love with crossfit. If you are thinking about doing crossfit just do it! You won’t regret it

I love it at Excel! You get the best coaching along with an awesome community of people. Strength, conditioning, powerlifting, yoga.. they do it all and in such a supportive and motivating environment. If you've been on the fence about joining, take the leap. You won't regret it.

I have learned so much and gained better mobility. They challenge members and tailor every workout to all fitness levels. The community has been very welcoming and friendly, and most of all, encouraging.

I've been member to this gym for almost 4 months now and I gonna say that the members and coaches there are the nicest people I've ever been around of and motivated me to stay committed with my crossfit journey. I convinced one of my buddy to join this gym and loved it. If you like Crossfit or Olympic lift, I would definitely recommend to check this place out!

Since day one everyone here has been beyond amazing. I appreciate the fact that they take their time to always make sure you understand how to do what is needed to be done so you are not causing any injuries. I am thankful for Excel CrossFit and the whole crew.

INHUMANE, RACIST, and DISRESPECTFUL. If you plan to go to this gym think twice. They will discriminate you if you are against their conservative political views and are openly racist at the gym. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM.

I came to this gym wanting to try CrossFit for the first time. I knew I would be moving in 6 months but didn't want to wait to start a change in my life. CrossFit excel has an on ramp course that helps new comers get used to the techniques before starting classes which I think makes the experience less intimidating. The coaches are amazing. They made me feel comfortable and supported every step of the way. Shoutout to Frank & Buddy! They gave encouragement when needed and feedback on how to improve. The atmosphere was so welcoming and fun. I loved working out for the first time ever in my life. I even started to like running! It was super bittersweet moving to Sacramento and I miss this gym and the people so much. Wish I never had to leave. I completely recommend this gym if you're new and want to start CrossFit, you won't regret it!

Crossfit Excel is not only a gym but it’s also an amazing community. Great workout with awesome coaches and staff. It is like having a personal trainer at every session without the high cost.
