This USFS campground was really nice. Situated along Reyes Creek, this campground offers a shaded and cool spot to hang your hat for the night. There are pit toilets, dumpsters, trails to hike, and fishing in the stream. Dogs are welcome too as long as they're on a leash. The campground hosts were very nice and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again!

Such a beautiful campground!! I can’t wait to set up my next camping trip here!! My friends and I had such an amazing time here! Shawna and Larry are the greatest as well, so respectful and full of energy and love! So excited to make more memories here!

Love this place and have visited multiple times. Just visited during Presidents Day, and despite multiple road closures, we decided to trust our instincts over the GPS and take the usual route. If we had followed the GPS, it would have sent us all the way up to Taft, only to loop back to a section where a chunk of the road is actually missing. As others have mentioned, you can still get there from the other side by driving on the shoulder.
For the best route I highly recommend:
• Going through Frazier Park
• Turning left onto Lockwood Valley Rd
• Entering Camp Scheideck Road into your GPS (it will be on your left)
Your gps will constantly try to reroute you but the roads were clear. We made it to the camp ground without any issues despite being in a low clearance Volkswagen GTI.
We grabbed wood at gas station at Frazier park ($6 each) but the host sells bundles for $10 each. There’s plenty of hiking and highly recommend sunny spots during the winter months. It got pretty cold at night so pack accordingly. We blew through 6 bundles the first night. The hosts are friendly and kind.
Happy camping!

The campground is open even though the road is technically closed. If you don't mind driving on the shoulder around the road collapse, it's a great spot. The creek was flowing. The flys are painful during the day but they go at sunset The camp hosts are hilarious. There arent bear boxes, but bear scat abounds. Put ALL YOUR FOOD AWAY.

Just got back from my first camping trip in 10 years, and this place was perfect for me, my partner, and our dog. Love the creek - I put up a hammock in the back of our site right off the water. We went during the week, so it was quiet and incredibly peaceful. The one or two other groups camping a few sites away were very respectful. Bathrooms are exactly what you’d expect, and that’s all I can say about that. Dumpsters were clean and bear-resistant. We met the *lovely* camp hosts, Shawna and Larry, who mentioned they’ve been there for about 6 months. I’m hoping I spelled their names correctly. They drive around with their dogs (River and Floky?) to check in on everyone and get to know the new campers, and they’re both very kind and so much fun. Larry caught a trout and cleaned it for us so we could cook it for dinner! I brought 2 bundles of firewood and ended up needing to buy a few more. The hosts were able to use debit, even offline. The treated bundles definitely burn way faster than regular collected wood from the ground. Speaking of being offline — there is no cell service at all for miles. I was able to connect to satellite on my new phone which allowed me to send and receive emergency messages for work. We experienced what we strongly believe to have been a bear across the creek during dinner the first night. It was frighteningly large and its eyes reflected my headlamp in the pitch black. The second night brought what I believe was a fox or coyote close to camp, but making noise and having our large husky with us kept it from wanting to get closer. Definitely bring lots of water because there’s none here unless you’re filtering the creek I suppose, which, I’m not sure if that’s allowed??? Tried to find a trail behind site 18, and it was overgrown and hard to figure out exactly what path to follow, so I ended up following the creek for some time and then turning around. Anyway… all in all a very good camping trip. Would recommend. Will go back. And for anyone who may wonder like I did, the first week of October was highs around 80 and lows around 50. It did get chilly in the middle of the night, but in a good way where a sleeping bag alone was enough to stay cozy.

Very ugly place, I don't recommend it. The bathrooms smell terrible and there is no water to wash your hands. Too many insects. There is no local store to buy something that is missing. Too much heat, and to top it off, no sign. I would never go back again.

Went recently and had a really great experience. The people who oversee the ground were very nice. Firewood is sold at the campsite. The creek is and surrounding areas and very pretty. Not many fish and definitely would recommend bug spray. No service which should be expected. A great place to unplug for a bit :)

Great campground that can be difficult to get to. When we can the road f on 33 was washed out with a giant part of the road missing. We drove all the way around the mountain to go from the 5. The Lockwood road had signs that said the road was closed and visitors on Reddit said the signs are there, but does not mean you can't drive on it. It is about an hour from the road closed sign to the campground.
Campground is nice and is reachable during dry periods unless you have an off-road vehicle as there are multiple river/stream crossings. There are bugs and spiders that like to hang out under tent rain flys.

This was an excellent campground. There were many trails all of them absolutely beautiful. The firing helped and it's very secluded with a small town. About 15 people nearby. There is no cell service And to be sureto bring all your own supplies. If you follow the Creek you will find trout. They're small but it's absolutely gorgeous. How do great time? I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody who goes camping

Location was infested with bugs, and the small wood town you see in pictures is off limits to visitors.

Took my little sister camping for the first time. Had an old man yell at us telling me we didn't pay. I told him I did and he went and checked. He came back and started barking at me about how I put the wrong number. I had put camp spot 14 because there is a sign that says 14. I had also put a description of my truck. He told me the spot is "8". There is no sign that says 8. This seems like a man who has lost it and wasnt willing to reason... or talk like an adult. He then barked at me telling me I had to move my truck 10ft closer to the road. I told him it wasn't level over there and he yelled at me saying "You think you can park anywhere!?" Grown man "Park Management" yelling at 2 women with me. No apology and felt very unwelcomed. No adult man should conduct themselves like that. Clearly he didnt pass the Ranger exam. Besides the weeds everywhere and the unkept campground, the rest of the night we were unbothered. This experience really bothered my little sister and she was afraid. Needless to say but will never return. The prices are also steep for camping 5 feet away from people either side of you.

Bring bug repellent. I used off deep woods probably 5 times within 6 hours. Be careful when walking in the creek because of the green algae being slippery. Recommend water shoes.

We used to love this campground but, ever since the camp host, Jade, left, it has gone downhill. During our most recent stay, the bathrooms were disgusting, the trash was overflowing, and other campsites were partying until 4am. I sincerely hope they get a new host and it gets better soon.
