I just spent the week at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center. GAME-CHANGER! I have learned so much about authentic yoga with a group of the most lovely and caring people. The level of kindness, acceptance, and love that was extended to me during my stay was absolutely extraordinary. I took a course called Positive Thinking, and my instructor was Parvati. Thank you wonderful Parvati! This course was so helpful to me and was taught tools on how to create more peace in my life, and was done from an authentic yoga perspective. I stayed for almost a week and was dealing with pain in the right side of my body including my neck, shoulders, hip, and foot. In just less than a week, almost all of my pain has cleared after participating in the 2 daily yoga classes that were offered to me. Needless to say, I am a happy camper because I feel so good! The Swami is such a phenomenal yoga teacher! Thank you, Swami, and Sivananda Yoga Center for helping me so much! I am a healthier person as a result of your yoga teachings!

I went to Shivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, recently, for a yoga retreat - I absolutely loved it! The day consisted of a gentle yoga class to recalibrate the body, a hearty vegetarian meal prepared by the yoga center members, a work shop on how to live a yogic lifestyle for stress resilience, and a yoga Nidra session. They also had unlimited tea and fruits for guest consumption. Many of the fruits are actually grown in their garden! Our classes were led by Parvati. She really has a voice of an Angel and led the workshops and classes eloquently. The location has guest parking at the back of the house. The center is well maintained and clean. I will definitely be coming back for another retreat!

Sivananda yoga is my favorite yoga. Theres breath work at the beginning, then a specific order of asanas that are consistant with each class. Because of this consistency, and the intentionally long rests between positions, I relax fully and this becomes a meditative experience. There are many other offerings here that make this an uplifting spiritual place: healthy vegetarian meals $8, Sanskrit chanting, classes, all inviting and reasonably priced. No Los Angeles POWER /heat/ hussel/clicky/pressures of any kind. Ive been taking various yoga classes all over the world for 40 years, found Sivananda in India 30 years ago, and beyond grateful it's available. A unique gift to any community. Om Shanti. (Peace).

I'm celebrating 27 years of my hatha yoga practice thanks to SYVC. I began in NYC in Chelsea during my time as a student at F.I.T., then Yoga Warehouse in Fort Lauderdale, and now LA. I started at their previous Marina Del Rey location and now to this majestic retreat in West Adams. There is one factor in my life which is constant to heal the mind, body, alignment, and being out of all of the yoga studios in the world and there are so many ~ however, it's here: at the Sivananda. Change is here.

I recently spent a weekend here. It was just what I needed to recharge and reset. The ashram is beautiful, peaceful, and every part of the house exudes peace and love. Both swamis were kind and welcoming. The yoga classes are traditional Sivananda. I loved them. I enjoyed each morning where attendees would meditate together at sat sang and then we would chant. The energy created in the satsang regulated my nervous system each time. If you want a weekend of true rest, come to the la ashram!

I have recently been taking a few different types of yoga to help find peace and work on anxiety and grief and this place is one that is helping me a lot! It is traditional yoga, more meditative, breathing focused, and mastering the basic yoga poses and some inversions. I have to say the historic west adams house is beautiful, charming and tranquil but even better is the fabulous outdoor deck (covid friendly). These people are not pretentious at all- they are so kind, welcoming, warm, and share their knowledge and peaceful energy with open arms (nothing like most people nor businesses in LA). Thou many of them live there or are tight knit, I always felt welcome and comfortable even thou this experience and practice are new to me. Most of all it's helping me find peace and happiness after a dark time and is beneficial in so many ways- just give it a try you have nothing to lose and everything to gain (and evolve!)

The place is located at a very nice neighborhood in LA. It is still peaceful with all the horns honking on the busy roads, but it does transfer you to a whole new dimension. The place has some random stuff collected by Swami on display, which is nice but I am not sure of the authenticity. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, and ready to make accommodations for you even out of their control. It was a pleasant experience overall :)

I had a wonderful stay at the center, the Swami and her supporting team, are knowledgeable, kind and wonderful guides in all the practices. I arrived at a time of deep grief in need of some space and time. I received all of that and more from the people, the center the environment of peace that is and around the center.I quarantined on arrival to keep all safe and well at this time. My quarantine actually became a beautiful and unexpected start to my stay, a lovely room, a place to meditate and space for Yoga reading eating, you have access to all the centers programs on line, Yoga Meditation Satsang, workshops. There was a lovely light flooding in every day and direct access to the outside space at the center where you will find the yoga deck, the gardens that hold space for fruit giving flowering trees, a very amusing nut busting squirrel, birds singing, a real oasis of calm and rest. During my quarantine I was delivered three healthy beautiful meals a day, which nourished my body and mind, I am home now and I just made one of the Prana bursting soups that was prepared for me in the center, a new firm favorite now, I received a gift of time, to go in, inside me.Thereafter I joined inside and outside on the deck the offerings from the center to further support my healing. I will certainly be returning to the center

There is something so calming as soon as you set food on the land at Vedanta. The wind blows through the trees and you let out a sigh of the busy and hectic life of these days. The programs held here take you deeply and nourishingly into yourself. They are held with the utmost reverence as time-honored tradition meets the realities and needs of those of us in the west. Reminding us of the power we carry within us when we slow down and tune in. The absolutely luxuriously accommodations carry you further into relaxation, while the absolutely delicious vegetarian cooking bring warmth and satisfaction to your body. Deepak Swarup who oversees the grounds and the programs welcomes you with radiance, wisdom, and humor. And you feels so held by the magic of it all. The hiking is so beautifully meditative on the 24 acres of land, with more available with the sequoias nearby. And soaking in the natural public hot springs facility down the road is not to be missed! Deeply restorative to body!

This place offers traditional yoga training, among other things.......you can decide if you want to take it to the next level....... or only limited to yoga training.

I recently stayed in this beautiful location for a spiritual retreat. The center is located in a fairly busy part of Los Angeles but was extremely quiet and peaceful. The resident Swamini-ji and staff were warm and welcoming with excellent instruction and available to answer any questions. I enjoyed the experience and more importantly left with inspiration to continue my spiritual practice outside of the center and an increased understanding of myself and others. I plan to return and highly recommend this center.
