This used to be one of my favorite thrift stores in the area, but in the last year the prices have gotten insane. It’s not worth the long drive anymore, especially when there are stores with better stuff closer

I'm a regular. But becoming less of one because prices are comically overpriced. Goodwill is cheaper and that's saying a LOT.

They are overpriced and hate sick animals. Don’t shop here if you love dogs. The main lady is the same person who overprices everything and is very rude.

They have multiple lights priced at over 100 dollars, paintings priced over 300, tables for 200, a pitch fork was 25 dollars. I was told not to go near the high priced items because I might trip. The new manager must think he is in Carmel. Nordstrom is cheaper, save your money and drive to the city. I thought it was a dump that sold things people gave away. Come to get a couple laughs at how outrageous it is.

This used to be a great place but they've raised prices so much that it's not worth even shopping here. Outrageous price hikes

last chance Mercantile has been redone. It was fun before but it's really fun now and they have it organized so well you can always find gems there! Definitely has really good things. Just make sure you go once a week because things go in and out of there all the time, you will find some great bargains. Don't miss it!

The last time I was here the prices were worth the drive. Now the prices are ridiculous!I understand they need to make money and the money is going to the Veterans, but $200 dollars for a work bench? Jeans are $15, a non name brand purse for $19!?They also had a system where they would lower the prices as the merchandise sat weekly, they no longer honor that. What a shame. They are following Goodwill pricing. So sad.

I remember when last chance clothes were $1-$2 and they had dollar bins outside. Shoes and handbags were always priced decently around $5. I went in and they had urban outfitters jeans and hollister for $10-$12 which are goodwill prices. Honestly some of the dresses were more expensive then goodwill and when I looked at the label it wasn’t anything spectacular. I know I’m not the only one noticing the prices because two ladies next to me mentioned the same thing. The clothing section has been reorganized and it looks nice, but the prices are a bit ridiculous compared to before. I know that they need to make money, but they had a juicy bag priced at $25 that was falling apart inside and had makeup stains all on the front. I used to work at a thrift store and that would be an item that was priced lower or tossed out because the inside of it was crumbling apart. I get that you need to make profit, but a lot of the items aren’t even worth the price they’re asking for. And you could find them at another thrift store for cheaper or even just buy it at retail price. Also the jewelry is priced too high. Claire’s jewelry for like $8? Doesn’t make any sense to me

Lots of parking available and is at the dump so you can bring boxes to dump in bins right outside. Same driveway where people come to dump stuff so lots of pick ups dropping stuff off. Last Chance has a lot of stuff but everything was over priced for what it is. Pretty disappointing. A lot of it is outside in the elements like the bikes and they are rusting but still priced high. They had some garden pots that would can buy new for less.

Greatest thrift in the Monterey area: it's huge (merch extends outdoors behind the store), prices are good, quality and variety on housewares is terrific. Parking extends out next to the building beyond the drop-off area. This is way out by the dump and worth the trip.

Best thrift in the region by a huge margin. You will need a car to get here, as it's part of the county's waste management facility. Don't be phased by the minimal parking directly in front, as there is an auxiliary lot to the west of the store. This place is enormous, and merchandise stretches out into the lot behind the main warehouse (in tents). It has a lot of furniture -- we saw MCM side chairs that people would pay big bucks for in San Francisco. The art is better quality than the usual thrift stuff. Clothing selection is small and curated. There are tools, patio furniture, pet furniture -- it's like a whole department store, only used and cheap. Counter staff clearly knows the regulars. If I were trying to furnish an apartment in the Monterey area, I'd be one.

Read the website carefully, packed up the car Friday with donations, headed out to Marina to get there before the 4 pm closing stated on their website ... but gate was closed with a sign that donation cut off is 3:30 pm. Gotta return home, unpack everything (because we need the car tonight) ... then either repack it this weekend or just toss it out in frustration. Sigh.

I used to really like this place, but recently, there has been a change for the worst. I was looking for ceramic tiles for a fill in job in my patio, and I found a bunch, but they were the wrong color. A gentleman asked me how many pieces I needed and when I said 75, he said I can have them for $50. The pieces were only 6 by 6 and they still had glue on the back from when they were removed. So, I would have to clean each piece before uses, and I am a senior. Anyway, I offered $25 which he did not accept. Still fine and I had no issue with him. I brought one 12 by 12 tile up to the front with me for a color reference, in case I came back. This is the good part: When I tried to pay for it, the lady said I should pay $5 for it. I explained that these tiles cost around $2 brand new at most stores, and that since it still had glue on it from the last usage, it is only worth about a buck. She took the tile and told me to go get it then. Lol. Okay, why not just say no? Why be rude about it? I have no answer. I did tell her that I donate a lot of stuff to LCM, which is a true statement because I like to support Vets. But with rude folks working the checkout counter, not sure this good thing will last. Anyway, I went to Home Depot and as predicted, bought the tile for $ 2.50 a square foot. They lost a sale, and I lost a chance to support Vets. Bad day. Lol.
