The location is unbeatable and gorgeous. It is right on Tomales Bay, and walking distance to Hog Island Oyster Company. The views from the property are stunning, and there is a great outdoor space for eating, reading, drinking, staring at the water and birds. Why the 3 starts, you ask? When charging high-end prices, one should expect some high-end comfort and amenities. Properties like this on the coast are going to be rustic. But that doesn't mean they should have hard beds, unreliable heat, and no water pressure in the shower (came out in a trickle). Also, it is very hard to discern from the website the exactly sleeping layout. One king bed is in an overall open area with the kitchen, dining, living spaces upstairs. The heating in this area failed during our stay. A second king is in an unheated outbuilding on the deck/pier off of the downstairs area (this area is not in the photos), which means going outside to get to the main building if you need a quick trip to the loo in during the night. There is also a private room with a full sized bed, and ladder to get to a loft above it with a futon type bed. (Don't try exiting that space in the middle of the night!) If you rent this place, just know what you are getting into.
