They saved me thousands of dollars. An honest mechanics are worth their weight in gold. Les Shwab had recommended 3 repairs for about $4000. My car is only worth that so I started car shopping, then I decided to take it here for a second option. They told that I didn't need the CV axel or control arms which Les Shwab said I should prioritize doing 1st, and that the struts could use replacing but I could wait if I didn't want to put the money in now. Performance auto works literally saved my car. My wife and I will be going to them for all our auto repairs going forward!

Bobby and his son Alex are amazing! They tried their best to help fix the issue with my 2014 Mazda CX-5 and let me know they were not able to figure out why the check engine light would not go off and recommended I take it to the dealership. They then went above and beyond and refunded me the money I paid them for the diagnostic test, the part they replaced, and labor probably knowing the dealership was going to charge me an outrageous amount (which Mazda did) as well as Bobby scheduling the appointment at the dealership for me. Bobby even told me I could call him if I thought the dealership was trying to pull one over on me and he would speak with them. I will only take my vehicle to Performance unless they suggest otherwise and them suggesting “otherwise” is only due to the expense a local mechanic must pay to keep themselves updated on ALL the ever changing software for these newer technological vehicles. Let me just say, I felt like I was betraying Bobby and Alex by taking my car to the dealership. Not to mention, everyone I told about Performance Auto Works doing work on my car and then refunding me because they could not fix the issue were shocked. They have never heard of a local shop doing that. Honest and true mechanics!

Bobby and the entire team/family provide exceptional service and truly care about helping others. I was having car trouble on a Sunday afternoon and was afraid the car wouldn’t make it to work the next day. Even though they were closed (Sunday), I saw the garage door opened so I went inside just to see if he can tell me if it’s something easily fixable, or if I should plan to rent a car to get me to work the next day. I did not expect the amazingly positive response. He took the time to check the vehicle out, and explained what was happening. Very, VERY kind person and super nice family. Yes, the car needed work eventually, and Bobby helped me out with fixing the issue that same week. I found my new mechanic! I would recommend this business to every person I know.

I highly recommend Performance Auto Works!! I am currently experiencing issues with a very old vehicle (1999). When I called earlier this week, Bobby said I could bring it in right away and he would do an inspection. As someone who doesn't know much about cars, I am always hesitant about getting taken advantage of by a mechanic. This was absolutely not the case; Bobby was incredibly kind and fair. He asked me if there was anyone in my life who understood cars (and not in a patronizing way) to bring in so that we could walk through what work needed to be done to the vehicle, together. In the end, it made more sense to invest the money into a new vehicle. Bobby didn't even charge me for the time and labor of the diagnostic! Performance Auto Works shop has been a trusted family business that have serviced my family’s cars for literally generations! I would always take our cars to this shop until nowadays because of their excellent, professional, extremely knowledgeable expertise on many different models & makes of cars. I have trusted & used their awesome repairs for the past 20 years myself & could always count on a job done right, & with such helpful and friendly customer service from Bobby, & Alex. Prices are fair & reasonable. I still appreciate & applaud such an outstanding auto repair shop anywhere here in Martinez. Highly recommended! Wishing them the best & many more years!!!

I was super surprised to see your recommend that I review this place, considering I could've sworn I left a five star review over a year ago. Apparently I've been slacking, and it's time to make that right. The shop is fantastic. The best part I think besides the fact that they do good work, is that they listen and they don't rush you. Even with other shops that I've generally liked in the past I hated how I felt like the person checking in really wasn't listening to me, assumedly because they wanted their tech to handle all of the diagnosing. But I drive this car every day, and who better to know when something doesn't sound or feel right, even if I'm not an expert in the inner workings of everything. I know when the suspension is off, I know when it's leaking oil that it shouldn't be. I've been coming here for the better part of two years now, and my experiences are always excellent
