This store is so inept in ordering and keeping shelves properly stocked. Asked one of my daughters to pick up ground sausage as this store is closer than lunardi's. Like usual, the meat was outdated by 5 days - disgusting that the mgr was not watching this and Chris Day, the regional offers little or no oversight. I have had this happen (did not purchase - but called butcher over) 3x in last year - there is no excuse. One shouldn't have to remind buyers to check dates - that's the store's job. I've been shopping at that store for 44yrs - it's a steep decline in attention to detail - which is why this is choice #3 to lunardis and Trader Joe's

I normally go to Grocery Outlet because the prices are so much better but today I wanted to just stay close to home so I went here. The selection is fine and about what you would normally see at any grocery store around but the customer service is not great. The cashier had a pretty nasty attitude. It can't be that hard to greet someone. I asked if I had received the sale discount on an item and without checking they just said yes. I trusted them and left and they never thanked my for my business. When I got home it turns out I did not get it. I will go somewhere else if I am not in the mood for Grocery Outlet, there are plenty of choices.

I have been shopping this store for 39 + years ! 2 or 3 times a week..I spend at least 100$ each trip. Everyone knows me there. Claudia whom I used to be friends with. Has developed a dislike with me!! Un provoked. I have let it go for couple months. Personal. However she has been extremely rude for no reason. ! While I am shopping as a customer. There were no lines open she was bagging in express. I asked her over and over is there another register open? I didn't want to go to Express with so much stuff. I almost yelled several times ! She walked away and ignored me! This has happened several times. I'm not letting this go anymore! This is her issue not mine. I have decided enough is enough ,!

Great little store! Best of all, especially for those of us who don't work 9-5, it's open later than any other grocery store in the area!

Terrible bakery items. Read the ingredients of items from the in-store bakery. What's the purpose of having an in-store bakery if you can't produce fresh items that don't require loads of artificial ingredients and preservatives. And who Loads up carrot cake with shredded coconut? Expensive too. Terrible products that show a total disregard for quality and customers.

One star is a stretch. This isn't our local store but a store close to our future home. I went to Safeway here because of the reputation Albertsons / Safeway has in terms of quality produce, full dairy and cleanliness. The produce department was embarrassing to say the least. Veggies all looked to need to be tossed. I would have thrown them out if they were in my home. The store overall was not well stocked and all goods felt old after the produce experience. Dairy was weak as well only having one option for a quart of low fat milk. Finally, an employee was mopping in the Starbucks and the mop was clearly dirty, smelled of mildew and that was the introduction to the store. My customer opinion is that store needs a lot of work and some accountability.

Idk why this Safeway has such a low rating. It's as nice or better as any other Safeway that I've ever been to, all the cashiers are friendly here, and two of the most important things to me: it has lots of parking and it's clean! Well-stocked products and decent pricing, too. Although I never shop in a Safeway unless I've added everything to my Just 4 U card in the app first. I used to do a smaller scale version of extreme couponing a few years back and I still LOVE to see how much I saved on the bottom of my receipt in rewards and Just 4 U discounts. Last time I shopped here, it was almost $10 saved off $60 so definitely worth using the app. Today I came for my 2nd booster though. I got both my boosters here, scheduled through the MyTurn website, and both were a breeze! Nancy Do in the pharmacy is great. I could tell she was stressed and a bit crabby at first bc she is the ONLY one running the pharmacy and the vaccinations but she won me over with her speed/efficiency and professionalism so I wanted to give her a shout out and hearts. I felt like I was in an SNL skit at first, hard not to LOL.. I was waiting at the right window which is for vaccines and nobody came so I went to the left window line where Nancy was filling prescriptions. At my turn, she said, "You should be at the other window. Go over there and wait until the vaccination lady comes". "I was over there", I mumbled. When I get over there, 10 seconds later Nancy walks over with serious face, "Can I help you". So I repeat everything. She takes my info and types stuff into the computer for a while and says, "please go wait in the (vaccination waiting) room. I'm the only one here so it will be a while." I literally see her go back to filling prescriptions.. I sit down and no joke just 15 seconds later Nancy comes through the secret side door with face shield and needle. I'm thinking wow I hope she's not mad, and are there two Nancy's? So confused. She read me the standard warnings and was putting on the bandaid before I even realized she had given me a shot. Smooth! So my 15 minute wait is up and now I can go. Thx for reading. You'll like this mid-size Safeway. Say hi to Nancy.

My wife and I just wanted to shout out for the great personal skills that Italy shows while working at Starbucks. She always remembers what my wife and I buy there and when only one of us shows up, she always asks about the other. Italy is a gem and a big boost for our local Safeway!!! Go Italy!

This is the worst run store, doughnuts case is covered in ants, the wait to check out is huge with a bunch of employees standing around, whoever manages this store is horrible. I hate going here and please get a new store manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad to see that this Safeway location seems to have its own mask policy. Went in there today and walked by two different customers shopping without a mask. It didn't seem the employees cared so this shopping environment made me feel very uncomfortable and unsafe. I will be taking my business somewhere else in the future.

My FULLY VACCINATED wife who rarely leaves the house went into the store. While shopping in the back corner of the store a large white male customer approached her, aggressively approached her, got in her face, started to raise his voice at her, caused scenes by continuing to yell at her after he was 30 feet away, he demanded she put on a mask and proceeded to go tell employees. At first she thought he was a store manager based upon how demanding and demeaning he acted. A floral employee named Joanne came over, lectured her about a mask, she said to get her a mask and she'll wear it, and they woman said go get one from the front. If it is so important bring her one. It's obvious nobody cares until an aggressive white male approaches a smaller non white female. When she walked into the store the employee at the customer service window made direct eye contact, said hello, but said nothing at all about a her not wearing a mask. We offered to privately talk to the irate man, the store manager, and even call they police. But all that happened was the man who continued yelling and the Safeway employee refused her offer. It's obvious who wants to be kind, professional, respectful. Many times while shopping at this locational several people (employees and clients) in the store are not wearing masks. That is last of the reason why we come here. Multiple generations of our immediate and extended family have shopped here for nearly 40 years. Only a few months ago we witnessed 3 shoplifters with a get away car for which we obtained a license plate. When we called it into the store we were basically told we don't care call the police. (The police also acted in this relaxed unconcerned why are you bothering us manner.) Apparently Safeway prefers shop lifters who wear masks over paying clients. Safeway allows white male customers to yell at non white women female clients. Unionized Safeway employees, including in the floral department, are professionally trained and educated in medicine and sciences. They are so confident of their expertise that they are willing to impose upon the legal rights of paying clients. My how the times have changed! Time to go back to online shopping and home delivery from Whole Foods, Costco, Sprouts, Target.

Extremely disappointed and will escalate this to the district manager, area manager and will be reaching out to corporate!! First thing is I have been shopping at this location for 15 years! For the last 7- I have brought my dog with me who always is on the cart! Employees always see her and pet and compliment how cute she is! Today, I'm getting a cart and an employee greets me and Pete my dog! At checkout, I was being checked out on check stand 1 and another employee named Claudia comes over to grab bags for another customer and says " you are not allowed to have dogs in the store and especially not in the cart where people place their groceries", I responded with " oh really " and her reply was outrageous! She said " yea really"! She is very fortunate that I did not cause a scene and left pissed! I don't know nor care who she is and what her position is however her comment, tone and approach is NOT something I will tolerate not accept! Not once was I asked if my dog was a service animal! Discrimination?? Some people do not belong in customer service! I am grown, a professional myself and servicing clients, people is the most important and educating people on policy and enforcing properly is something I understand! If she came by and pulled me to the side and said " ma'am unfortunately due to health/ sanitation dogs are not permitted! I have never in life been told I could not being a dog in. I see many dogs at grocery stores and didn't even think twice! The point is her approach! The cashier didn't bring it up but she had to make a comment and she wasn't even helping me! She just had to say something with her rude self!! " yea really" I'm being furious!! Like who are you talking to? She is extremely lucky I didn't pop off- seriously but I will escalate this and I'm sure she will here about this from upper management! Claudia will learn that there is a way to say things to people and it's never too late even if she's over 50! You talking crazy to someone who may look young but let me tell you something-- ive been running a BILLION dollar organization for years and this is not ok, not welcome and I feel discriminated against!! If she went to a store and someone did the exact same thing to her- she would pull the race card, discrimination and some more mess. I can not wait to speak to the store manager and will be getting in contact with the regional manager first thing tomorrow!

I have been very happy with the curbside pick up at the Virginia Hills location. Ordering online has been very easy. I have been able to select the times for pick up I have wanted. A big thank you to the employees that have been doing the shopping. They have been doing an excellent job, especially picking out the produce I have ordered. The employees that bring out the groceries, load them in the car. They have always been very prompt, and friendly.
