Gorgeous hotel in historic building; definitely one of the gems in the area! I can't speak for the hotel accommodation rooms and service, since I have stayed overnight here before, but the dining hall / front room entrance and downstairs hall is warm and charming, with an old-fashioned welcoming vibe that makes one immediately feel at ease. It is definitely a romantic and cozy environment, one that has been used for weddings on many occasion (including my friends and friends of friends of mine), and was met with very favorable reviews and cherished memorable moments. That said, it is one of the finest restaurants in the area; as good or better than many of the tastiest food joints and restaurants I've been to around the world. Highly recommend their dinner menu!! Wow! Well done, McCloud Hotel!! Delightful and ambient atmosphere, scrumptious (mostly organic) food, worth stopping in!

It takes a lot for me to go online and write a review these days. I couldn't wait to tell the world about the dinner that we had at Sage Restaurant in the hotel. Truly inspired and one of the best meals we have had in a really long time. The lamb shank was simply incredible and the rest of the meal was equally fantastic. And the service brought it all together. I will drive back from Bend and spend the night just to enjoy this incredible meal again and again! Erick Bend, OR

My husband and I found the McCloud Hotel by word of mouth. Our stay began with dinner at the Sage Restaurant. Our meal was delicious with an excellent wine selection and our server was friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy, clean, and the bed was very very comfortable. Breakfast was included and ample. Just sorry we could stay only one night. Thank you Cindy and staff!

Sorry we stayed away so long! Before we moved to Oregon we used to stay here on our way up or back - but then we moved in 2007. At the beginning of October we were returning to OR from Yosemite and thought “Gee wouldn’t it be way more fun to stay in McCloud than in Woodland?” There were two rooms left for that Saturday evening so we selected one and made reservations online in Yosemite that morning. The historic building is just as beautiful as we remembered and the room just as comfortable. Since our last stay it has changed hands twice. The new owner was super friendly and was pouring complimentary wine for guests as we arrived. Dinner was available at the hotel at the Sage Restaurant and sounded great but we decided to walk around and see what changes have taken place in the last 16 years. We started with a cocktail at the restaurant next door - the Axe and Rose Public House which is also owned by the hotel. Then we headed down to the Meat Market. This definitely seemed like a favorite for locals, who were all very friendly. Our room had an Ansel Adams theme which was a surprise after our arrival from Yosemite. Very clean and comfortable and at the end of a hall, outside of which is a porch and beautiful garden and outdoor seating. Breakfast the next day was very good with a lot of options, and is included with the room. Next time we’ll eat dinner at the hotel, as the food we spied while walking by looked great. We won’t wait so long to return!

The Inn keeper was extremely nice and took great care of me! The rooms are amazing. This had to be the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept in. Sheets are so soft and the pillows are amazing. You will not be disappointed.

This hotel is absolutely amazing from staff to food. We also went to their sister restaurant bar next-door, and the food and drinks were also yummy as well as the staff serving. McCloud hotel is a lovely 100 year old historic building that has been kept in pristine condition, considering its elderly. the rooms were lovely the bed was comfortable and I recommended it to all my friends since I’ve come back to central coast California. I hope to go back again. Oh, and let’s not forget the fact that McLeod hotel is very dog friendly.

Not sure this hotel is worth it’s price tag. Rooms and bathrooms are showing significant wear and age. Hotel, restaurant and lobby are cozy. Excellent full buffet breakfast included. Pet friendly. Antiques in the hallways need updating as they look creepy and not charming as intended. Ensuring all items in the room work is a must. One lamp and both shades were broken in our room. Wallpaper pealing in bathroom. Charming? Yes. Dated. Yes. Where is the fine line between the two. That’s up to you. For us. It was overpriced for what was offered. Or put in some elbow grease and charge as is or slightly more. But the photos are not exactly what gets delivered in person.

The rooms and hotel’s charms remain but for $300/night one expects better services — more than cold breakfasts of the same eggs, dry waffles and potatoes; the breakfasts vary more than they do. One expects more than one bar of soap and one small jar of shampoo for two people for 4 nights. The shower comes out like a firehose and you can’t adjust the spray. The restaurant is excellent for dinner.

Absolutely delightful hotel maintained in its original form but with all the comforts and amenities one would expect from a first rate establishment. The owner and staff were delightful as they were gracious. A wonderful period hotel in a lovely small former logging town. The chef is excellent and the two nights we were there, the dinners were superb; way above what one might otherwise expect. A high point on our travels.

Our club had it’s annual retreat there. The owner, Cindy, was so gracious and attempted to meet all our needs. The grounds were beautiful, the hotel was lovely, and the food at both restaurants was amazing! In addition, we picked the perfect weekend because the weather was great.

Sybil H Very welcoming and gracious hosts! Sleeping rooms are nicely appointed and very clean. (Ahh...the beds are so-o comfortable.) From the lobby/sitting room to the charming dining room to the lush garden and lovely outdoor dining space, the property is pretty, quaint, and perfect for gathering with friends. The large hall/meeting room in the adjacent building is likewise well-appointed and set up with well- functioning technology. Dinner our last evening there was sumptuous and expertly served - which made it possible for our large group to simply enjoy being together. Thank you, Cindy and family, for making our large group's weekend retreat easy and fun!
