“Mendocino is a wonderful getaway for beautiful exquisite views of the ocean and the Mendocino coast next to this lovely historic town, great dining and unique and fun shopping (especially at the art galleries). I'm also an artist and musician and I truly appreciate the beautiful art created here by all the local artists. In Mendocino, art gallery shopping is plentiful. This is our third trip to Mendocino and without a doubt, Prentice Gallery is far and above the rest of the galleries in town. Prentice has a very unique collection of many lovely pieces created in many forms and unique media. One of the highlights of visiting this gallery in the past has always been the very creative and lovely woodwork created by local artist Jack Van Geem! We were fortunate on this visit to actually meet the artist, who graciously took a lot of his time to talk with us about his art at length. He is a woodwork artist extraordinaire! He is also a retired musician from the San Francisco Symphony (to which we had a lot in common to discuss as well)! We had the opportunity to view some of his newest pieces. I would not even attempt to describe the extreme beauty of these pieces in this review, from smaller woodwork to larger tables and chairs. You really have to visit the gallery to take in these works of art. Thank you Prentice Gallery for displaying, selling and supporting the works of art of all these talented local artists!”

“This is a great gallery where you can buy directly from the local artists. Open 10:30-5pm 7 days a week. Anytime you walk into this gallery you will always meet one of the 16 artists working the front desk. Every 2nd Saturday of the month they have a reception and artist talk for one of the artists till 8pm. This gallery is also close to main street where there are many amazing restaurants and just down the street from nature trails where you can take a breathtaking walk along the headlands.”

“There are so many great artists featured here, it's like a museum of art. I am especially fond of the Gordon Stennett birds. There are also amazing examples of custom built wood furniture; tables, chairs etc...amazing craftsmanship. Worth a visit whether you are in the market to buy or not.”
