An absolute great place to sit on the beach and watch the sunset!!!!! If you're in Fort Bragg or Mendocino, you have to make the short journey to Russian Gulch State Park! Available for camping, picnicing, hiking or beachcombing, there's no shortage of things to do here. There is a fee for day use, but it's only $12 (last time I checked). Definitely a great place to check out and take a break!

My wife and I have been visiting Russian Gulch State Park for over 50 years. I enjoy the views of the Pacific Ocean and bay and the smells of Pine and Fir trees as much now as I did all those years ago!

We had just stopped for a leg-stretcher here on September 22, 2023 and were walking along the Headlands Trail to the Devil’s Punch Bowl. When we were walking along the little cove just south of the Punch Bowl several whales jumped out of the water. We are from the Canadian prairies so we have no idea what type of whale they were. They had white undersides. It was so unexpected and thrilling! What a gift! Would love to know what kind they were. The Devil’s Punch Bowl was also amazing. The bridge is beautiful to look at from the Headlands trail. If we are ever back we may hike to the waterfall.

Most beautiful tree canopy - well taken care of, a pleasure to run the Fern Canyon Trail, to falls loop trail all the way out to the North border trail.Lush greenery the whole way, and in early September before the rains!

Lovely little park with very nice campsites. Small campground so best to have a reservation.5 mile hike to a waterfall or shorter rim hike above the bay. Awesome place to watch the sunset.

This is an absolute must see state park when you're in the area!! My fiancé and I always stop here when we come to Fort Bragg/Mendocino. It's $8 per vehicle and it's 100% worth it. There's many different sights to see and things to do here. Camping, beach, hikes, you name it. Our last stop here we visited both the devils punch bowl, and did the waterfall hike. The Devil's Punch Bowl/Sink Hole is just a short walk from the parking lot and is just breathtaking. Of all the times we've come here we actually just saw this part and I'm so glad we did, I actually had no idea it was there. Now I'll definitely be stopping by any time we're out here! The waterfall hike has a couple different trials to choose from to get to the waterfall.

Nice little trails into the Coastal Pines. Nice little beach tucked away from the crowds.

Nice state park! Staff is friendly. Hiked out to the waterfall using the north trail. The main trail that follows the river to the waterfall has been closed for maintenance. Out and back about 7 miles and took my group 3 hours. The trail is flat in the middle and has a steady incline/decline at the beginning and then again at the falls.Very peaceful, nice hike! Trail is shaded as well and there is not much technical ability needed to hike.

Russian Gulch has been a vacation spot since the 1930’s! It’s a gem of a spot to camp, or just chill for the day. There is also a free parking spot at the south end of the park. The road is called 509D. The fern canyon trail is closed at the moment, but when it’s open it’s the best trail at the park. Reserve a camping space early or you probably won’t get a last minute spot.Playground: Not a playground in site. That said kids with an active imagination will love to play around the creek and park In general. My daughter likes the hidden spots around the park to play games with her friends.Restrooms: Good restrooms with shower facility too.Dog-friendliness: The park does allow dogs.Picnic area: There are picnic areas all over the park. The north headlands trail has some easily accessible picnic tables with great views of the Mendocino coast.

Camped here twice and had a really lovely time! No service in the campground, but we were able to get a hot spot going at the beach and get some work done with the beautiful views. Really cute little chipmunks my cat liked to watch out the window between naps. The camp host has a cat so extra points for that!
