I booked a surprise birthday trip for my husband here and I was not disappointed! When I told the staff we would be a late night check in, they accommodated and made sure I knew where to go for the room key, and they even had chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and soft instrumental music waiting for us in the room! It was like we were coming home instead of staying at a hotel. Everything was so clean! The view from every room is gorgeous. The solarium, where the pool and hot tub are located, was enchanting. The beds were comfortable and the curtains were nice and thick, blocking out any sunlight so we could sleep in after our late night arrival. The room was so charming and even had a fireplace, which we used when it started to downpour. There was extra firewood in clear view if needed, water fill up and ice machines. The Christmas decorations were on point and there are even 3 hotel kitties around the property that like to welcome guests in the lobby. We had a quick delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant (the famous Raven, connected to the check in area), and they offer on-the-go lunches for guests adventuring out during the day! This establishment is an absolute gem, I couldn't be more please and will definitely recommend to others and want to return. They know exactly what they're doing and the level of care was so impressive.

I can't say enough to express how I loved my experience at Stanford Inn. From the amazing staff, accommodations, feeling welcomed as if it was my own home, my wife and I loved our stay. I've never heard of a pet friendly resort like this or different activities to do at the resort itself.Food & drinks: One of the biggest parts of our whole trip, Ravens was extraordinary. In our short trip, we learned so much about how food is done and definitely bring those experiences back home.Noteworthy details: The resort alone feels woven into the forest. With the structure weaving in roots and shrubs exposing its age and embedded into the earth. Not to mention the random large birds that may be in the area (which was incredible).

The Stanford Inn is a wonderfully serene place. I’ve stayed there several times; each time, I’ve felt revived and revitalized. The location along the Mendocino coast, outside the town, is fabulous. The grounds of the Inn, including organic gardens, are beautiful and so calming to walk through. The indoor pool and hot tub are very relaxing. The room I had most recently was very comfortable—-I loved walking into the room to the gentle sounds of classical music playing on the in-room CD player. The food at the Ravens restaurant, all plant-based, is superb. Who knew that sea palm strudel could taste so good? Tip: Be sure to order the delightful Canadian Martini, made with Chambord. All of the service at the Inn has been, for me, genial and considerate. I’m already looking forward to my next stay at this magical place.

We didn't stay here, but came for happy hour and walk through the vegetable and food garden. So nice! $5 wine glass, and the staff in the office are truly marvelous! I found a hat that had some issues, and Catherine helped me and left me totally satisfied! I love my new cowboy hat! And we agreed who could repair it. It's so beautiful and the gardens provide the food for the restaurant. S little pricey for me to stay overnight, but I heard a couple raving about their stay.

We had an excellent stay here at the Stanford Inn & Resort. Everything was immaculately clean (sometimes things at older inns can be showing their wear but everything here was obviously well cared for and maintained) and the amenities were luxurious. The hot tub was a haven after a hard paddle on the river, and was never crowded. The grounds are peaceful and we especially loved watching the fog roll in from the ocean each evening. If you are not vegan the included breakfast may feel challenging. I’d recommend the Continental which will get you a house-made muffin or scone and some fresh fruit or the waffles or pancakes, which are made from buckwheat and oats but taste exactly like a soft gingerbread cookie. The vegan butter melts right in, no worries there. The other dishes are much more, I’ll say “alternative” and if that’s not your thing you might be missing your more familiar flavors and textures. The portions are generous though, so whatever you order you’ll have plenty of it.

Wonderfully comfortable and fun property with the llamas, donkeys, occasional raccoon, and fun pathways throughout for us to walk our curious dog. EV charging was super convenient & available. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the dining options fit well with our tastes. The take-out lunches also worked very well for us. Per usual, we had to get used to the local soundscape of noises before we could get a good night’s sleep. The smoky air quality was an unpleasant surprise for us. We did not burn in our room’s fireplace at all, but felt stinging eyes and scratchy throats from the secondary smoke that seeped into our room. The Inn enables/promotes wood burning, the smoke from which is terribly unhealthy, which seems to contradict Stanford’s otherwise being a non-smoking property and its dedication to healthy living. But for that, our stay would have been exceptional.

What a beautiful place, so relaxing. The pool and hot tub were awesome, rooms neat and comfortable. Not a detail miss in the whole place. Great food and super friendly funky staff.

I've wanted to come to The Stanford Inn for years. It's everything I hoped it would be and more. (I'm writing this here, at the inn, on a comfy bed with the fireplace blazing and the curtains open to the beautiful gardens outside.) I came to celebrate my friend's birthday. There was a card and chocolate waiting for her on her bed, which delighted her. Everything about the stay has been suffused with warmth. The staff is wonderful. The food is AMAZING. I've eaten an ungodly amount. Portobello benedict...waffles...futomaki (sushi rolls)...pear crumble cake (at afternoon tea!)...carrot cake...mint chocolate ganache tart... I'd come back just to feast again. The room is rustic, cozy, immaculately clean (super important to me). Lots of wood. Crisp white bedding. As a rule, I don't sleep well the first night anywhere unfamiliar. Different bed, weird sounds. It gets better as I adjust to the new environment. But here, the first night? Slept like a contented baby. Literally a first for me. We walked the grounds yesterday, petted velvety donkey noses, saw horses and llamas, and trekked down to the river. It's a lovely corner of the earth.

I stayed here for a few days. The property is very beautiful and the staff members were all nice to me. I commend the property for its commitment to veganism and sustainability. However, the rooms are pricey and I don’t know if the resort is worth the cost. It’s advertised as all inclusive but it’s essentially just the room, breakfast, pool, and bikes. I was still excited for the daily vegan breakfast, but the meals were hit or miss and we were still expected to pay gratuity. My breakfasts were pretty good but my boyfriend’s (who ordered different menu items) seemed reheated and not fresh. For example, chilaquiles were very soggy, as if it had been prepared a while ago, and the beans were cold. The classes and activities that are offered are pretty pricey, making it difficult to take advantage of all that the property offers. As a result of the high costs, we relied on outside food for other meals. Also, our TV’s chrome cast didn’t work the entire time we were there! Overall, it’s a pretty place and the intention is good, but it is not worth the high price. In retrospect, I would have preferred a different B&B where I could just prepare my own vegan meals.

We were back at the Inn for the beginning of summer. I would like to say that nothing's changed since our last visit which I wrote about some months ago, but that would be incorrect ... our stays at the Inn just keep getting better! With each visit we feel more at home, enjoying new discoveries on the grounds, the ever-improving restaurant menu (5-stars for the soup addition), the most comfortable rooms, and the friendliest staff. I wanted to share a detail about a book that was referenced in the Inn's monthly brochure - a brochure copy is always in the room on check-in. The description of the book piqued my interest and, as is always the case for a referenced book, a copy can be browsed and/or purchased in the Inn's warm and welcoming lobby/library. I searched for the book and could not find it, mentioned that at the front desk, and left it at that. After a most memorable weekend stay we checked out - relaxed and refreshed, already thinking of our next visit. Then, two days later, a small package arrived home with the Inn's return address. You guessed it; Stanford Inn had found the book and, as a gift, mailed it to our home. Enough said!

We loved our stay! My husband and I were in the cottage and could see the lamas from our window. They were so cute! We loved the garden and being able to walk around everywhere. The pool and jacuzzi building was so beautiful with plants all around. It was so nice to stay close to the ocean cliffs, hiking trails and a beach. We will definitely be back, but next time fly, then drive from a nearby airport because it was a long drive from San Diego.

I couldn't imagine a more perfect place to spend our honeymoon! The location was gorgeous with ocean and river views, and we were immediately welcomed into our suite with fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and champagne! Our particular room was in a little house next to the rescue llamas, who immediately wanted to be friends and asked for some head scritches. We took full advantage of the free mountain bike rental and gorgeous hot tub and spa inside of the greenhouse! We also did the canoeing and had a close encounter with a bunch of playful otters. All of the staff were wonderful and make the place feel like home.

The Stanford Inn is a beautiful place to relax, eat fantastic food, enjoy the sauna and pool, or have a massage. We brought our two small dogs and the staff were super friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. I would highly recommend the Standford Inn!
