The best work. They take utmost care. I’ve brought in my prized decorative wooden star twice and they’ve repaired it and made it better than it was before. I’ve driven this star twice from Seattle to the bay just to get it repaired at this shop because they are that good. It’s also in an idyllic location. Thank you, Luke, Tom and crew!

Absolutely amazing work. Had a 2-3 inches long scratch on my wood shelf and they restored it PERFECTLY. All of us can’t even tell where the scratch was. I would give 100 stars if I can.

Craftsmanship is not something you usually think of in this dispose and replace day and age, so in many ways the Barn Woodshop feels like a place from the past - when craftsmen took true pride in their work and loved the things they worked on. We have used the Barn Woodshop many times over the years, especially to repair our bandback kitchen chairs we inherited many years ago from the folks we bought our house from. We'd have no idea where to replace them or if they are even replaceable so have to get them repaired when they break every few years. Tom always does a great job and brings them back to new at a fair price, especially for the level of craftsmanship applied. Thank you for the great service and your dedication to your craft!

Master craftsmanship. Heritage furniture restoration, reconstruction and refinishing using modern or traditional finishes. Able to replicate many pieces. All of this takes time. Items are processed in batches, so a certain job will be stripped along with many others, sanded, repaired, stained etc. with like pieces. Each will also need a great deal of individual attention, so start early. We started getting our dining room table ready for the holidays in July. This gave time for them to give us their best. They have copied small tables and book cases for us with excellent results.

Luke and Dave did work for me. Dave cut a custom-designed threshold (jacoba) according to prototype with slight modification. Luke stained the piece and installed it at my place. He also stained some faded baseboard, a damaged interior threshold, and repaired a piano hinge (completely pulled off) for a large teak desk. Work was high quality and efficient (in-house work). I sourced the wood myself. For scheduling, I'd give four-minus stars. It's a bit tentative and "off" at times, but once a date was (finally) nailed, the appt was on time. I'd go to them again for work (and well might, since I have a lot of wood at my small place).

We had an antique secretary that was in pretty bad shape -- the hinges were falling off and the wood was gouged in places during a move and The Barn Wood Shop did an amazing restoration job. They made the piece look practically new, and we now see detail in the inlays that we didn't know were there. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Tom is a real craftsman and does excellent work. He restored several family heirloom pieces for me and I couldn't be happier. I have recommended him to several friends who were very pleased as well. He's a delight to work with! Maureen Godwin Los Altos, CA

Absolute Craftsmanship! I've been here twice and the rates are incredibly reasonable. Parking can be a bit tricky so park towards the end of the street.

What an interesting shop located at the Menlo Park Allied Gardens. I was with some colleagues in that area and the old school wood shop attracted me to go inside and take a look. I saw a lot of old chairs hanging in the ceiling, which I thought were acting as decoration. The owner/carpenter/artist/craftsman (that also looks like an actor in my opinion) told me that the chairs were in repair after some fires have destroyed so much furniture of a client and he was actually repairing them to their original state. I saw all the tools, the space, some pieces being repaired and the work of love. I have nothing to repair (after all I am an Ikea girl), but surely this shop is worth a visit even as a 'museum' of manual woodshop work.

This place is SO BEAUTIFUL! Felt like I was walking into a little bit of paradise. The grounds are perfectly kept, tons of roses, wisteria, trees, arches... they even have an outdoor chandelier! Oh my! A quiet oasis in the middle of an urban chaos. Wish I was getting married again so I could have a wedding here. Absolutely beautiful!

*Pride In Craftsmanship.* You don't hear that much these days, but that sums up The Barn Wood Shop. I brought in 4 family heirlooms - including a huge wood mirror that had shattered when it fell from the wall - and Tom & his son restored them to things of beauty. Very reasonable price for working magic. Highly recommended!

We had our wedding at Allied Arts in late April and we are so glad we chose this venue. Everything was in bloom and it was beautiful. We had our ceremony on the Merner Green, cocktail hour was in the Blue Garden, dinner was in the Dinning Room, and dancing and desert was in the Sunset Room. We also had an outside bar and games on the Sunset Patio. Our wedding rehearsal at Allied Arts wasn't great. I booked the Merner Green for our rehearsal the night before the wedding but people set up lawn games where the rehearsal was taking place before we arrived. I was very confused because I booked the garden months in advanced. Also the other people looked mad and upset that we moved their games. Even though, I booked that garden for the rehearsal because that's where we were getting married the next day. Luckily I had a wedding coordinator (Marian from Joshua Charles Catering Company. I highly recommend her and the catering company) who sorted things out and handled everything. Overall I recommend Allied Arts Guild for a wedding venue.
