First of all, I will say that the care here is great - the staff is super nice and my dog is always treated very well (no issues there). The reason for the 2 stars are the prices. They are exorbitant. I recently came for an emergency visit to induce vomiting because my dog ate something toxic. They proceeded to charge me over $450 to do so - more than 3x what they charged for past visits for the same exact thing (I have proof of past visits for inducing vomiting being under $200), and far more than what TWO other local emergency vets charge for inducing vomiting (plus those vets provided IV hydration + activated charcoal afterwards on top of that and they were still cheaper). This visit was $150 emergency fee, $150 "induce emesis" fee (???), + cost of medications to make the dog vomit. This isn't the first time I've been blown away by the prices here, but I've stayed because my dog doesn't see the vet often, the staff is nice, and I've been too lazy to search for someone new. Well, this was my last visit here and I will definitely be finding a new vet. I'm sure they will reply and say that I reviewed the estimate before treatment (which I did), but since it was an emergency, I felt backed into a corner and signed because I'd pay anything to make sure my dog is safe and healthy. That still doesn't doesn't mean it's acceptable to vastly over-charge someone & take advantage of them in an emergency situation.

Poor management, poor staff ,they know how to charge ,and then maybe give you the attention, they work on 30 minutes system, where it doesn't matter what's really wrong,it's all about their time that is value.a test that was quoted 500$over the phone was 900$ at the register, and even then they failed to call me back with the results,( I was supposed to call them every day between one month to 6 months to see if the results came in) they charged me for a surgery, but when i came in to do a check up pre surgery, the nurse didn't even know shes checking her fir a physical pre surgery, and completed disregarded the growths that were the issue ,and also refused to let the doctor see her before the surgery to see if even possible, they charged me in full anf told me the vet will look before they start tge procedure at that moment...and the receptionist told they have more clients than tgey can handle thwts why an echo test for a 14 year old dog take 2 weeks to get because the vet only works 3 days a week actually and not 6 ...get more staff or deal with what you can actually deal....being a vet isn't about fake smiles and 5 stars reviews on yelp...

I was referred here after my dog had an eye infection and my primary vet couldn't see him right away. My little buddy received the best possible care by a friendly caring staff! Had such a good experience I'd consider breaking up with my primary vet. I'd rate them as 5 stars too.

We took our chihuahua for the first time to Alto Tiburon Veterinary and we love everything about this place. They were so sweet, nice and kind to my girl. Great communicators. We called this morning and they gave us same an appointment for the same day; the only vet in Marin who understood our panic and stress, thank you! Our girl stayed there for a couple of hours in a confortable bed and covered with a blanket, priceless.

I am interested in what others have to say about this clinic. Years ago it was terrific, with Dr Ohler. Her caring and gentleness couldn't be matched and her knowledge. I have been there 3 times in last few years and each time, the service gets worse. Dr Dowell was very professional, explained all and was extremely thorough (and cost a fortune). In the past year I have had encounters with 2 of the female vets. The first female was pro-active, which I liked but eventually saw that the meds were too much for Louie. I took him off of them and he improved rather quickly. She wanted to continue with other stuff. No thank you. Today I took Louie for an her name,(I am not sweet but I am direct) and followed up with how long she had been there, her response was that she "didn't like me coming at her". Set the stage! We decided on blood work and urine work but I could not afford it. When I agreed to blood work and nail clipping, the result was that cat was too aggressive and he would have to be sedated! For god sake. He is a rag doll, albeit 16 and this was beyond odd. So, good bye this vet. Not the right personality, did not project caring at all, did not listen (she tried to push off 2 etc meds which I already told her he was taking). I will continue my quest for a compassionate doctor, but not these two. If I need Dr Dowell, I probably would have him treat Louie as he knows the business.

Dr. Riley is the best! Friendly and helpful staff; my pets are well taken care of at this establishment. I love how they don't push unnecessary procedures, tests, supplements. Anything prescribed or recommended treatment plans are carefully explained. So happy they are part of our neighborhood!

The people who run the place- the receptionists, vet techs and others were great in making sure we had been seen and were comfortable while waiting for test results.

If you have a reptile as your beloved pet, this is the one and only place in the Bay Area that you can get an emergency appointment and expert care. I found this vet listed on a turtle and tortoise site after spending 90 minutes calling every supposed reptile vet listed on Yelp. They made an appointment for my turtle within 24 hours. Dr. Dowell went above and beyond. After ordering x-rays, he was honest with me that he had never seen a calcified mass this size in a turtle and sent the films off to a reptile radiology expert. It was agreed upon that she needed surgery ASAP to remove the mass, which was at least 4cm. The surgery was successful and my beloved turtle of 30 years made an amazing recovery. Dr. Dowell's surgery skills were phenomenal and he had great communication with me through the whole process. In addition, the staff were charming in that each vet tech came out to say what a special turtle she is and that they all spent time holding her to give her comfort on her over night stay. Even the front desk people were super nice. This is my new vet! If you know a reptile owner spread the word.

Had nothing but great experiences with the staff and the vets and it's one of those vets you can actually go inside with your dog!! Which anyone who is a dog owner knows is crucial we put up with this through the pandemic but why we're putting up with it now we shouldn't have to. You will not have that experience here great care great staff
