Incompetent AND UncaringI am not usually one to write scathing reviews, but my experience at the Safeway Pharmacy at El Camino was so bad that I feel compelled.TL/DR They were literally in the middle of ringing me up they shut for lunch and told me to come back a hour later.I arrived at the pharmacy at 12:45. They close for lunch at 1pm. A few minutes after I had gotten in line, the cashier called out that I would be the last person they could serve before they closed for lunch. The other customers and I had to tell about 5 people who arrived after me that I was the last one they could serve. When it came to my turn, tI told the cashier I was picking up two mediations for my son. He got the first one, and was excruciatingly slow about the whole thing. I reminded him there was a second medication and he said, now we are closed, you need to come back in an hour.I asked how was it possible for them to shut down mid-transaction!? He had said I was to be the last person served before they closed, so they need to complete my transaction. He said the pharmacist had clocked out and they couldn’t give me the second medication. I watched as the pharmacist walked by the cashier as I was pleading with him to complete my transaction.I don’t live anywhere near the pharmacy and had my disabled son waiting in the car for his medication, so it would be quite difficult for me to make him wait for an hour in the car. I asked if they could transfer the prescription to another pharmacy close to my house and they said no.I know that pharmacies are understaffed these days, but this is truly a terrible way to run a business. Telling a customer that “you’re the last one before lunch.” then shutting down mid-transaction and not even having the courtesy to send the prescription to a different pharmacy.

I went in pretty late after my shift around 9. I bought some ice cream and headed towards the exit. Then I hear a Safeway employee yelling at a boy for stealing, fair enough, but then he starts coming at me. The doors aren’t opening and I freeze. The man then accused me of stealing and wanted to see my receipt. I didn’t take my receipt. I went non verbal because there was a man yelling at me after my long shift. For context I’m an 18 year old girl. I went back to get my receipt and the cashier lady was very nice and told the man (who followed me to the cashier) that I had indeed paid and gave me my receipt. He then started yelling at me that I should always have my receipt and I “should’ve said I bought it”. Like he would’ve believed me? Also he’s a grown man yelling at a young girl. I left the store. It was a terrible experience.

It is shocking for me to see positive reviews for this pharmacy. Despite having two registers they only run one. Resulting in huge slow moving lines.Any requests to open second register only results in some lame excuse and does not lead to any improvement. If you value your time avoid at any cost.

This pharmacy is better in the past couple of years than it’s ever been. Pharmacists and techs are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. So glad to be able to go here.

Slow, incompetent and rude - if this is what anyone wants in a Pharmacy this is your place - I'd recommend going anywhere else. This location was always mediocre at best but it has gone so far down that it's not even a place I would trust at all. The staff is extremely rude, their floor labels guiding the line send you to the wrong window (where the very rude pharmacist says nothing, turns away and points to the other window) If they care this little about the basics who knows what else they are shoddy with

Want to give a big shout out to Amy and David at this pharmacy! I don't even live close by any longer, yet continue to go there because Amy especially makes me feel like I'm using an old fashioned family drug store. I never have to say more than my first name to either of them - they know everything that is going on without ever looking anything up and generally make me feel as though I am their only customer, regardless of how busy they are. On the rare occasions something is not in stock both Amy and David will call wherever they have to and find it for me. Even during the crazy days of this Pandemic, both always have a smile and a minute to chat. I hope their boss, whomever that may be, is well aware of the powerful presences s/he has running the pharmacy! They both deserve a raise!!

Safeway stores squeeze the last dollar out of customers with average quality factory food and try to force the public to use self checkout, along with the data mining, taking your picture, combining it with your credit card number and what you but, plus the gimmicky specials. You are the product for sale to marketers when you shop at Safeway. All the profits leave town and no local suppliers are used. The kind of place that people who put more value in what kind of car they lease than what they eat would shop. The opposite of that is the Good Earth Market in Tam Junction. 100% organic, of the highest quality, fresh grain ground every morning to make bread, pizza crust and pastries, the best local Marin and California produce and profit sharing for employees.

I grew up with Safeway in Santa Rosa, CA but this is not the same store. This Safeway has to many unacceptable issues to mention without being completely negative. I appreciate trying to keep the prices lower than the competition but this no way to run a Safeway grocery store in my opinion. This store is bad need of new management.

It's just a Safeway, but it's clean and the people that work there are always nice. When you need the basics, it's a great alternative to skip the premium pricing at Whole Foods.

Great pharmacy and excellent customer service. They are all very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I transferred all my husband prescriptions from CVS to this pharmacy because we were over paying for all his medications.
