positive running environment. I received an invitation through Strava for a local run in Mill valley and decided to go and check it out. everyone in the store was nice and helpful plus the running group was amazing. I would recommend visiting the store and participating in their events. thank you SFRC

It's odd not to know that something exists--and then wonder how one ever did without it. My neighbor had commented on his new pair of Hoka shoes; then, a few days later, there was an article on the company in the Wall Street Journal. And, just down the hill, they were being carried by San Francisco Running Company. But, in all of this unexpected sequence of events, the best part--the very best part--was being helped there by Mecque, who patiently explained the differences between the seemingly infinite variety of Hoka styles and models, helping me to choose the one best suited for me. Too, she introduced me to store's very high-tech Aetrex scanner that measured every metric of my feet. An extraordinarily comfortable shoe, fancy technology, truly informed and courteous assistance: a perfect day!

I am beyond upset with the service I received. Maybe I was unlucky and just strolled in when their was no experienced runners working. I came into the store because a co worker highly recommended I did before my marathon. I was hoping to get some advice, instead I got set on the road to failure. Save your time and money.

Amazing store with an amazing trail running community. If you live in the Bay Area or are passing through it is worth checking out.

What a great experience! Tucker and Mecque were awesome. They knew what I needed based on my running patterns, picked out numerous shoes to try and helped me get the right ones. I am so grateful for their level of service and positive attitudes.

Running store with a great shoe/clothing selection, and fun group runs in the Headlands on weekends!

I wanted to support a local running store but unfortunately the employee who helped me, a nice young guy, had no idea which shoes had which characteristics (drop, cushioning level, level of stability/support). This was Friday 6/17 at ~2:15pm.He also described two shoes as similar but friends and reviews have told me they’re very different: one is a stability shoe and the other is a nearly unstructured shoe. He seemed to be embarrassed that he didn’t know his shoes and was trying to cover…but bad shoe advice can cause discomfort or injury :/.Also, they sell quite old versions of several shoes—e.g., the Altra Rivera 2 has been out for 4+ months but this store is selling the original Rivera at full price.Perhaps the old models issue is due to a supply chain delays beyond the store’s control, but the unknowledgeable staff is something that is within the store’s control and should be fixed.Unfortunately I’m crossing SFRC off my list for now. Hopefully management sees this and ups the training a bit. I’m not super picky, I just want to buy from someone who knows their products.

Picked up a new pair of Altra Olympus kicks today, and McKay was a delight! She was super knowledgeable, and I was thrilled to hear SFRC is doing more to cater to women runners in the community. I look forward to joining them for a run sometime soon!

As a woman runner, it's refreshing to walk into a running store and see women behind the desk who are knowledgable about products and gear, and educated on each brand's value system. McKay does an exceptional job managing this store and is a hub of knowledge regarding women-led running groups and events. Love this store and the impact the staff are making on the running community!

I am getting back into running and need a good pair of running shoes. I ran when I was much younger and remember I was told to seek out specific shoes because of how my foot landed. I can't remember what it was pronation? neutral? supination? but my gait was analyzed in-store and I purchased shoes to give me the correct support. Since I am a big believer in supporting small, local businesses, I make it a point to support them. I came to SF Running Co. to support this business and also get the best possible shoes for my training. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. The young man who helped me told me that most people are neutral so it wasn't necessary to look at my gait and seemed dismissive on the subject. When I tried on a pair of Nike, which were a size 9 (I normally wear an 8 in this brand) he told me that the fit was correct, even though I felt that they fit too big. Because I was seeking expert advice, I went along with it. I ran in these shoes a couple of times, which were far too big for my feet and my feet were sliding around in the shoes and caused rubbing sore spots on my feet. I couldn't return them because of their return policy. I was able to sell my shoes second-hand online, but lost about $90 in this process. A waste of time and money. This was definitely not the expert advice I was hoping for.

I love their logo they have on their clothing and hats and I am all about representing local retailers over the big box and online only retailers but they do need to make sure their employees acknowledge customers when they come in and ask them if they need help. If there are on other customers and it is just me and you, take the opportunity because if you don't you will surly loose in the long run.

Great shop: knowledgeable staff and excellent selection of shoes and running accessories. But more importantly they’re a big supporter of the local running community
