I don’t usually write reviews, and if so only good ones since I know how hard it is for small businesses to survive including restaurants. Today I had a desire to do a E-MTB trip in Marin with my son who does not own one. The conditions were typical for winter off road. We were in luck since 2 bike shops in the area turned us down, either for fair conditions and concerns about their bikes or bikes that were not charged fully.Tam bikes was open for business and had the top of the line E-MTB’s for rent, ready to go.Specialized Levo with a 750 KW battery. > 7000$ purchase price.Friendly, easy interaction, fair price, was offered a coffee ( x2 ) , lots of fun with my son on our Tennesse Valley to Muir Beach loop. The bike was soiled and very dirty after the ride. After apologizing for its condition, the response of one of the staff with a smile in his face was hilariously ironic “ did you take off off road? “On the way out, I purchased a cool long sleeve Giro base layer ( MSRP Giro Web Side 100$ ) for 80$.Will definitely come back and enthusiastically endorse this shop to all my friends since it is so well deserved.

Great bike shop in Mill Valley. Excellent selection. I'm a Specialized guy, and this is one of their main lines. They actually have two shops right next door to each other. The main shop has mostly non-motorized bikes, while the smaller shop next door is all e-bikes. Stopped short of 5 stars only because some of their staff are, how should I say this? .... grumpy. It's important to keep this comment in perspective. Most of their staff are great, but the grumpsters are there, and very unpleasant to deal with. All-in-all these guys know what they're talking about, and they know the MTB trails really well around Mt. Tam and surrounding area.

Kristy Is So Helpful! As a woman I love coming into a bike shop and being helped by an extremely knowledgeable female. She knows the products and has great recommendations. Tam Bikes is a fantastic local resource. I just love the whole experience!

I arrived at Tam Bikes 30 minutes before closing with a screw wedged in the rim of my wheel. Quoc made time to look at my bike right away, patched the issue, and gave me a good honest assessment of whether I should replace the wheel. He was a joy to work with - this was one of the best experiences I've had at a bike shop. Tam Bikes is awesome!

Small, local shop with people who know their stuff. Brought in my dusty Specialized Ruby assuming I'd need to have a complete tune-up after not riding it since before Covid. They called the bike mechanic from the back who put the bike on a stand, spun the wheels, checked the brakes and filled the tires. He took the bike off the rack and said it's ready to ride. I didn't spend a dime and he wouldn't take a tip. I'll be back to make a purchase next time!

I bought my son's mountain bike and my road bike here in the past year and every step in the process was awesome. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff willing to go the extra mile, and well stocked store. We are lucky to have such a great bike shop in mill valley. Just awesome.

Been here twice and was looking to rent a e-bike before buying. There was a woman working here both times who was incredibly rude - told us they do rentals but after talking to us for a bit said that “maybe they aren’t for us” and then told us to go to Sausalito bikes. The owner is very nice but the woman was so off putting that we will be taking our purchase of three e-bikes to Mad Dogs and Englishmen instead. Advice to the owner- the woman you employ here is actively turning down business.

The owner is lovely and we've rented half a dozen times from them, but there's a woman who works there who is beyond rude. Scolded a group of adults about riding bikes "around town" and the risk of them being stolen. Like, do you rent bikes or not? Just called to ask about rentals today and she picked up the phone and had myriad questions about our intentions for renting the bikes before eventually telling us we aren't the sort of customers they want. We were riding to... Tiburon. Hopeless place -- go to Mad Dogs & Englishmen instead.

Every occasion I've had to get parts from Tam Bikes has ended up being a great experience. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to help while the selection of components and bikes is compelling for a store of this size. One of the staff members even dropped off my order at my house when I couldn't make the drive into the shop on a particular day. All around, a great local business run by folks who love bikes for folks who love bikes.

An amazing bike shop. The staff are wonderful. They often have parts when no other shop in the bay does, always first on my list when I'm upgrading components or need to discuss considerations with a bike mechanic. The floor team is considerate and exceptionally accommodating. they really care about their customers. 10/10. Thanks for the help with the new helmet. Cheers.

In terms of going above and beyond of servicing my bike they did a great job fixing up my bike after a surprise accident on my bike ride. They were very knowledgeable about pointing out some issues on my bike. Also they were very great about communication about when to pick up my bike and when my bike was ready. However, outside of professional space of doing the task at hand. My personal experience in how I was treated was poor. I was told my bike straight up was unusable and was kind made to feel embarrassed for owning the bike I brought in. The fellow, asked me how much I paid for my bike and I said 300 dollars. He just kind of disheveled manner said “looks like it” and it’s not meant for performance riding. Yes, I get it my road bike is 10+ years old and isn’t “performance” level which is true because I am not a rich person fromMarin and 300 dollars is all I can afford. Further inspection of my bike was met with grunts and disheveled sounds. But in the end they did get the job done. Just wish they were but more mindful. Furthermore, hope they take from this to be more inclusive in that not everyone has the ability to drop 1000+ dollars and shouldn’t feel bad about the bike they own if it’s not.Additional note: also went to my local bike shop and the issues were misdiagnosed. They mentioned that my gear shifters needed replacement which was causing issues. My local bike shop found that it was my derailleur hanger that was warped and was a much cheaper fix.

Recently bought a bike and car rack from Tam Bikes. Very happy with my purchase and quality of the service. Definitely made me think they appreciated my business.
