Loved browsing through the small bookstore and enjoying their large chocolate chocolate chip cookie. So large and flavorful yet so light! It’s fun for visitors and locals to sit outside and enjoy downtown Mill Valley. A couple of small tables available inside.Kid-friendliness: Bookstore with a kids section; outdoor space for families

Had the Hippie salad with grilled chicken. Maybe one the best salads I’ve had. Forgot to take pictures.

Awesome spot right in the heart of downtown mill valley. The place combines a cafe / restaurant and a cute little book store with a highly curated selection of books. My last time here I only got coffee beverages. All of the coffee drinks were good. No complaints. But it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing wrong with that. The food has been reliable, but nothing to travel from out of town for.Where the place really excels is the service and atmosphere. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. The place is situated right in the heart of downtown mill valley. It’s just a great spot to be. It feels like you’re literally in a valley full of trees. Air also always smells nice and fresh. Additionally, the place has great out door seating and it often has live music (see video clips).Another benefit is that it’s open latter than a lot of places in Mill Valley. For instance, today it was the only place open after 6pm in the area serving coffee. This is a spot I frequent - and will continue to do so.Parking: Very close to lots of downtown Mill Valley parking. Most of it is paid parking, unless you’re willing to walk a little.Kid-friendliness: Reasonable spot for kids. I often see families there.

Nice meal, but the staff are not very friendly. With the outdoor seating, your food is overwhelmed by yellow jackets, making it impossible to eat.

Nice local Cafe. I was there on a Friday night and they had live music. I grew up in Mill Valley and the Depot Cafe has been there since I was a child.

I hate to trash a local business but the Depot food is truly terrible. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken tasted old and really dry. The dressing was plain and tasteless. I know it is not a full kitchen, but the food tasted like it had been sitting uncovered in the frig for days. Inedible. And the Coke I ordered was delivered to my table by someone handing me a can. No glass. No ice. Mill Valley can do much better than this for such an iconic location. Side note: on the way to the restroom (through the charming bookstore section) I noticed a food pantry where pastries and other food items were stored next to cleaning supplies and a leaf blower!

Came here, food was delicious. However, the librarian judged me due to my age, assumed I could not pay for a book and got mad when I was reading the back cover. Since when is seeing if you want a book a bad thing? Im not wasting my money for something that I do not want.

Cashier is not friendly. He is not flexible with my order. Cannot make a milk tea that is cold or with ice. Offered the pitcher iced tea instead and just told me to add milk from the coffee station.Barista’s cappuccino is not good. The foam is too heavy (looks like from an electric milk frother). Also when my niece made an additional order for an omelette, the cashier made a sarcastic comment (not jokingly) “You didn’t have breakfast yet?”Location is superb. But will not go back there again.

On a Monday morning there were couples grabbing a morning cup, friends catching up, retirees hanging out, collaboration meet-ups and laptop-focused singleton employees gathered at the cafe. The menu was inspiring and very reasonably priced for the Bay Area. The mocha was delicious as was the almond bear claw pastry. Love the high ceilings and bright and light environment here.

This place is super cute, I am a local but something that has always bather me was the sitting in the bookstore. I know it is a book store but if there was some seats were you can relax and read a book would be nice.

A cute and unique little train station turned cafe and bookstore in Mill Valley. I ordered an iced mocha latte with oat milk and Ghiradelli chocolate per the cashier's recommendation. I love a good cup of coffee on the sweeter dessert side, and I thought it was perfectly flavored, rich and had a bold coffee taste. The outdoor seating area was lively with kids playing, people sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and a band playing live music for the diners. It seemed like the hotspot of downtown Mill Valley and I wish we could have had more time in the area to hang out!

I came, and they had zero pastries . There was nothing to go along with tea . So we left . Service wasn't great, I stood waiting for a worker to approach the order area, and he just stood there with his back to me talking to I'm guessing another worker. Anyways , not on my come back list.
