Absolutely one of the worst banks available. Outrageous fees for everything, few to no benefits, and some potentially outright illegal actions. Stay as far away from these thieves as you can.

no one in office helpful and impossible to reach by phone. Still on hold at this time, called with two phones, both waiting 15 mins now and still waiting. I had issues with Chase and they picked up in one min and fixed issue. Avoid westamerica if you ever want to see your money again

Heidi Dukor will reveal your information to anyone. Do not use this bank. It is illegal and the bank will protect their employees. Threats and harassment and illegal procedures are not ok. Do not recommend anything she is associated with.

I had my purse stolen 2 days before leaving on a trip. Andrea and Crystal went above and beyond to help me sort out this awful mess while I had to leave and go to work. They closed my accounts, opened up new ones, gave me new temporary ATM cards and dealt with the merchant services for my business. They even replaced the stolen cashiers' check without making me wait for the possible 99 days after making sure that it hadn't been cashed. I cannot imagine any other bank in the World providing such helpful and empathetic support . Thank you, ladies!

Not for Non-profits! If you want to open a Westamerica account for your non-profit, look elsewhere... They require a fictitious name statement filing for every business account (that's a d/b/a). State law clearly exempts non-profits from this hassle, but NOT Westamerica. It's totally not worth going through the filing, publishing and noticing of a fictitious name just to open an account there. Ugh! They don't tell you this until you've given them your opening deposit, then you have to wait days for it to clear before you get your money back!

No wonder why everyone in America hates banks. I had a silly little account just for paying the electric bill. And had an overdraft (the first one since grad school 26 years ago). They didn't tell me for 16 days even though they had an email address as well as a phone number. By that time, another check came in. The overdrafts were $85 (what I owed) and they charged me $70 in fees. Nice guys, eh?

I think I now understand why Westamerica Bank closes early Monday - Thursday... they are never busy! Which is a great thing if you bank there. All of their bankers are friendly, super fast and efficient, and I have NEVER waited in a line. So come before 4 PM and don't expect to spend more than 2-3 minutes making your deposits!
