I have been shopping at Dean some saving money for years now compared to other grocery stores. I love the selection and I love that they have a mixture of Middle Eastern food and bacalado at reasonable prices. I was even buying my eggs here because they were cheaper than anywhere else. Thank you for being local and I won't go anywhere else unless I have to.

I normally do not post or dwell on negative experiences but today one of the checkout persons really made me annoyed. Also, it isnt the first time he has done this. Normally the checkout person will ask you "would you like a bag?". This is the second time he has done this to me. Before he started my purchase, I did say "I would like a bag please". He goes through the whole purchase and then Im standing there and looking and asking "my bag please" and then he answers "20 cents". I got mad and said I did ask you before you started my purchase "could I have a bag" and he answers " I didnt hear you". This has happened 2 times on 2 separate occasions with the same checkout person. After that, I did ask to see a manager and I did go see a senior worker and he said a manager was not available. Next time, I will hunt a manager down the next time and let them know. Otherwise this is my go to store for fruit & vegetables and I love going there. Deans management, just wanted to share some feedback on a negative experience that has happened twice to one of your loyal customers! Thank you for your time!

Check your berries for mold - many of the strawberry cartons I checked had a lot of visible mold on the bottom.

Millbrae store smaller than San Mateo store, but filled to the brim with fresh fruits and veggies, plus international goodies, chocolates, teas, cheese, jams, etc. Good place if you are in the neighborhood, parking tight during busiest times as there are retaurants, coffee shop, other businesses flanking/near Dean's.
