S.A.M Singapore Math of Millbrae is a math school that trains children to develop an attitude of self-discovery and learning at a young age. The trainers ask leading questions rather than spoon-feed, promoting a habit of self-learning and independent thinking that builds confidence and transcends mathematics. The school employs an individual approach, with one teacher working with only two kids. The curriculum is amazing and challenging, with workbooks and homework that are motivating but not overwhelming. The school is highly flexible, accommodating schedules and allowing kids to start from their level of knowledge, with topics adjusted up or down as needed. Parents report that their children develop a strong foundation, a true sense of number, and abstract concepts. They enjoy going to work with the teachers. The program creates confident students with a strong math foundation, with notable results in quantile measures far exceeding grade-level averages. The method trains children to think, see possibilities, and manipulate numbers in abstract ways. It is recommended for families looking for challenging, extra math instruction that fosters fluency and confidence, creating competent and motivated math learners. The communication is great and the investment is considered money well spent.
My daughter has built a lot of confidence in mathematics over the course of last year attending this program. The material and the pace was tailored to her abilities and mastery of the topics. I recommend it to anyone who would want to expand on math skills and critical thinking outside of the normal school curriculum.
