Quality/Quantity - Came here for a last second birthday cake for our guest since our restaurant offered free cake service after our dinner. See Rin Tei Yelp Review. Limited selection, I chose the one that I felt my guest would enjoy the most. And it was a hit!! Chocolate with fresh strawberries. Atmosphere - Good size location. Has all the departments, including fresh sushi, see pictures. The fresh sushi cases were twice as large as most Safeways. Also has a Starbucks. Open 7 days a week from 5am to 2am. Large parking lot, but crazy busy at this mall. Too many big box brand name companies that share this parking lot. Service - Today free liquor samples. I did not try as it was way too early in the day. I know, can you believe I said that, lol. Had to flag down a few employees to finally get someone to write Happy Birthday on the cake we chose. Price - I think I paid almost $30. Reasonable price. Well for all the positive compliments that I got, it was worth it. LOL. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1915 with your 904 locations in 17 states. In 2015, Albertsons purchased Safeway.

Please, please, please remind checkers that a smile, no matter how brief, and eye contact will go along way. I greeted Krystal twice with a " good morning ". Nothing, nada.

Five stars for Sunny at the bakery! I placed an order last week for 48 cupcakes for my child's birthday party. I had a special request in terms of frosting color and Sunny hit it out of the park! I was so pleased when I picked up the order and I received many compliments from guests on how beautiful the cupcakes were. My husband said they tasted great too. Thank you Sunny for helping to make the party a success, I appreciate your efforts so much!

They overcharge me almost every. single. time. My father who doesn't speak/read English that well just got overcharged for *SIX* of the 10 items he purchased. This is a regular occurrence. They have an overly complicated mobile coupon situation that requires you to add each individual coupon that you want to use. I don't understand why they don't just have an "add all" feature on the Safeway app. It's so time consuming walking around the store on my phone like a clown adding coupons when i'm trying to just get in and out. They're usually understaffed with checkers but the self checkout lines have helped somewhat. **NOTE: check your receipt EVERY time you go here because I guarantee they WILL overcharge you over half the time. Always in their favor. The fried chicken is pretty bad lately, especially the tenders. It's usually glistening with cheap cheap oil and is mostly composed of breading instead of chicken. The staff making the sushi are really sweet. I think I'm officially done with Safeway. I will only go here out of convenience but I recommend buying what you can get from Trader Joe's and going to target, walmart, costco, amazon etc for things you can't buy from TJs. Absolute trash company with piss poor customer support online.

It's been 2 weeks and no one has contacted regarding the food-borne illness I was given from their deli. Completely unprofessional.

Went in as I always do to buy arrangement of flowers and use their service to put bouquet together which used to be $5 to $8. She said she'll charge me $65 just to put flowers together, absolutely outrageous! Then I said I'll do it myself can I use the counter, she refused to let me even put it together myself. I'm absolutely disgusted by it all!

Poor Service. Can Cash in Lotto tickets, but they say you can not purchase from counter, only at the Kiosk. Stating..."we can not print tickets"?!?

This place is horrible to say the least. I walked in here on a slow Sunday morning with only 1 person at the deli working the sandwich and burrito. I had to wait over 40 minutes just to get a single burrito. How the fuck does it take you guys a national chain of grocery stores/ food stores over 40 minutes to make a burrito. Maybe corporate needs to see this review so they pay the employees better. The place is slow and super disgusting. They don't teach the employees food handling and safety. I physically watched as the lady handling my food touched physical cash with her bare hands before my food order and then right after decide to not even wash her hands and touch my food with her hands very disgusting. Safeway corporate hopefully you guys can implement t some new rules and regularities for your employees before someone goes and reports them to government agencies.

Nice store. Deli was overwhelmed but not too bad: some excellent deals. Number One was a three salad + one roll deal for $6.00. So smart! Gives customers a chance to sample. Not so great was the Friday $5/lb chicken wings. If you like cold, fatty wings, this is your destination. I'd have probably loved them if I could have re-cooked them to my taste (almost burnt). Oh well.

In the deli section the old lady makes Patricia was very agro while working, she did her job but honestly so rude to my girlfriend and was yelling At literally everyone in line and her coworkers. While I can understand being unhappy about an unstocked item (ham) but yelling at my girlfriend yelling at a literal kid is unacceptable in my opinion. All meanwhile making a sandwich while making it harder for her coworker to work as well. At one point hitting and slamming the wrapping paper he set for himself before she even got there. The man working there was very nice and trying to be apologetic about her behavior meanwhile trying to be as nice as he could towards her trying to calm her down.

This store has many issues,,,,parking garage has people walking around looking in cars, people are constantly stealing so the manager is always taking pictures giving to police, dirty entrance from all the homeless people in the front. Go up to the Burlingame location much safer,,,,,

I will give them a five star review as I usually love shopping at this location and I know how important this rating is for the business. But I was there last night around 6 pm (Thursday, October 4th). The Asian woman working at the self check-out area was way too busy to talk to her friend (it was a very lengthy conversation they were having), and could not be bothered to be doing her job. In this tough time, I understand and appreciate to even see that people actually reporting to work. But when at work, you should do better. Be blessed to have a job and you can do better.

Sometimes It feels as if Im an employee here or something, im always in here. They have a large selection of items compared to other Safeways and the place is fairly well stocked and cleaned. They don't have as many "deals" as others I've noticed. But they're open late so that's a plus. I'm constantly buying Strauss milk and Strauss Yogurt and the particular location where the Yogurt is - the handles of the fridge has been broken for months it's literally a struggle to get the yogurt. How the employees haven't checked, noticed and reported it to maintenance to get fixed is beyond me. Other than that most of the employees are very friendly the stock guy literally went deep searching in the back for the particular yogurt I wanted since theres was none on the floor. However there's one Asian lady with long hair I always avoid. She's unpleasant and has attitude even when you're polite to her. After scanning all the items she rudely asks if I want a bag .... and when I tell her yes she literally just throws all the items in there with no care whatsoever. If I wasn't a better person.... but I digress.

It is nice to see that Millbrae Safeway is using compostable produce bags - well done! Would it be possible to bring back paper grocery sacks (they are nice for at-home composting) or a more eco-friendly option. I mainly shop at a less convenient Safeway because they have paper bags.
