Effectively it became a drug house, you don't even have to buy to consume - the smell is so strong. Management isn't even trying to do anything about it. Many hard working tech workers already left, and I will follow soon.

As a resident here in the Capitol, I’ve decided to write an honest review. It is my fourth month here. At first, I absolutely love my apartment! The gym is top-notch, equipped with modern fitness gear that suits all my workout needs. The management, initially, was fantastic—responsive and accommodating. The reserved guest parking was a convenient perk for my visitors. However, there’s been a significant downturn since the change in management. The once well-maintained reserved guest parking spots are constantly occupied by unidentified, unreserved vehicles, causing frustration and inconvenience. It’s disappointing to see this decline in order and organization. To make matters worse, the elevator has been out of service for two months now. This has become a major inconvenience, especially for residents on higher floors. The lack of a functioning elevator makes daily life more challenging and affects the overall living experience.Despite the initial positives, the recent management changes and the persisting issues with the guest parking and broken elevator have significantly impacted my satisfaction with the apartment. I hope these concerns are addressed promptly to restore the quality of living that initially attracted me to this place.

As a resident of Capito 650 Apartments, it's with great disappointment that I write this review. The recent changes in management have led to a noticeable decline in the quality of life here. Initially, my experience living in this community was positive, with a comfortable environment and a responsive management team. However, things have taken a turn for the worse.Recently, I encountered rats near the elevator area, indicating a broader pest issue that is not being adequately addressed. Additionally, the presence of homeless individuals around the building has become increasingly common, which raises concerns about security and safety for the residents. The response from the new management team to these issues has been underwhelming. The sense of urgency and attentiveness that once characterized their service is no longer evident. Requests and complaints are met with delays and inaction, leaving residents to cope with these distressing conditions without support. This decline is not reflective of the premium living experience that Capito 650 once promised. The lack of proactive measures to maintain the property's standards is disheartening. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for the management to restore the community to its former state—one that residents can once again be proud to call home.

Update 11/16:Elevators not yet fixed (new ETA is 11/22)~3 months since its broken. No wonder all recent reviews are 1 star.Update 11/7:Elevator is still not fixed (it’s been 2+ months now). ETA is 11/9- let’s see if they can fix it finally???But below are some additional issues-1) Elevator 1A is also not working since last month now2) Elevator 1B has a lot of issues and cannot press the buttons sometimes, or door doesn’t open3) Parking garage gates do not work most of the times. Being right in front of BART, this is a serious issues as we have seen some cars vandalized.4) Slider doors from Garage A are also opening without a fob so anyone can come inside the apartments as well5) EV charging randomly stops and we need to go and charge it again every time6) Guest reservation is still 12am to 12am (which is very confusing for a lot of people) instead of 6pm to 10am. They haven’t changed this yet in the portalThis apartment is clearly losing its luxury tag!Original update:Elevator is broken since last 3 weeks now, 3rd time in 2 months. The leasing office does not even seem to be sorry. They should definitely provide some compensation to the residents! They don’t miss a chance to penalize late payments.Parking has been an issue lately and towing company is taking a huge business out of it. I always see 2-3 cars getting towed even if the guest parking is mostly empty. People are afraid of calling over guests because of this issue!Overnight guest reservations are super confusing. They sent a long email for parking rules and regulations!

‼️Urgent Rats Issue Handled Poorly by Management at Capito 650 ApartmentsI am currently a resident at Capito 650 Apartments, and I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the management's response to a serious rat infestation in my unit. Despite encountering rats in my apartment on multiple occasions, my pleas for immediate assistance were deferred with excuses. When I first reported the issue on a Friday, I was told to wait until Monday as no one could address the situation in the manager's absence. The distress of cohabiting with rats over the weekend was met with further inaction; I was instructed to await pest control's evidence collection and a decision from higher management, a process which I was assured would be expedited. Unfortunately, that assurance proved empty as I received no communication from the management. It was only after a week, and my own follow-up, that they began to process my request.Adding to the ordeal, I was informed that moving to a different unit—a reasonable request under such circumstances—would require a 30-day notice. This policy is unreasonable when dealing with urgent health and safety concerns like pest infestations. Thus, I am left to endure another month in these unacceptable conditions. The lack of urgency and clear communication from Capito 650's management in addressing such a pressing matter is unacceptable. A home should be a place of comfort, not one where residents are left feeling helpless and ignored, especially in the face of a health hazard. I urge the management to re-evaluate their procedures for emergency situations and to treat their residents with the respect and prompt attention they deserve.

I have lived at 650 Capitol Ave for four years, and it's deeply disheartening to witness its decline in service, maintenance, and most alarmingly, respect for residents. Despite the premium we pay for the "Luxury" tag, the recent experiences have been severely subpar.Parking Chaos: The recent parking reservation system was poorly managed. Many blatantly ignored the rules with no repercussions, causing unnecessary stress and disorder.Mail Room Break-in: We faced the most extensive package theft ever under the current management. How did our mail get so unprotected in a "luxury" complex?Maintenance Negligence: Maintenance requests aren't just delayed but often wholly disregarded. This leads to significant wear, diminishing our apartment's value.Security Concerns: A malfunctioning parking garage door has increased the risk of thefts. It's alarming that homeless individuals can wander our halls and use our amenities unchecked. But what's more distressing is the blatant profiling I experienced.Addressing these concerns to the main manager resulted in indifference or being told that these might be residents' fault. Such responses are not only disrespectful but entirely unfounded. To potential residents, while some might suggest "move somewhere else," the heart of the matter is holding the management accountable for their promises. My experience and concerns aren't isolated, and I urge potential renters to make informed decisions.

I recently renewed our lease with Capitol 650. The apartment itself and the facility has its limitations comparing to all of the same level apartments around the area. Not much of nature light or direct sunlight if you are not on a higher level floors. Due to the shape of the floor plan, half of the apartment would almost always need lighting. The pool can get very loud throughout the summer time. I give a 5-star review, primarily thanks to the exceptional service provided by the assistant manager, Crystal.Crystal has been incredibly kind and always ready to assist us residents with any questions or concerns.Additionally, I must mention the cleaning lady on the second floor, although I regret not knowing her name. She consistently goes above and beyond in her cleaning duties, making sure the common areas are always spotless. On numerous occasions, she offered to help me dispose of trash.I appreciate the swift response to maintenance requests, thanks to the above-average number of maintenance staff on-site.

I stayed in 5 different apartments in the last few years, by far the staff here is the most professional. There have been a couple of break-ins recently though, my bike is stolen and I heard that there's a resident being followed at night, which seems a bit horrifying. But can see that staff is doing what they can do to prevent that, so wish the situation gets better.

The efficiency of management and maintenance team is becoming low. I have moved in for more than a week but I still have not received my mailbox key, and it's also been a week but no maintenance team processes my service request.

1) This is the 4th time they are shutting water in a month due to “required maintenance repair”?No wonder the sprinklers run 24x7.2) Turning heater on during afternoons in the lobby area in this heat?♂️

Pros: Great amenities. Nice gym. Friendly staff.Cons:- Garage doors are quick to open but slow to close, people can piggy back with you inside the garage and you won't be able to stop them.- My car was broken into and the standard procedure here is to file a police complaint for the leasing staff to investigate this further. Although, the staff is very cooperative they should be looking into a better solution to resolve this problem.- You only get one key card per lease holder. If you have a guest or family coming over to stay with you for some time you will have a hard time navigating through the building. You need key card to access the elevators, gym, amenities and parking garage.

We recently moved to California from different state. We signed up for Apt A for 01/21, just within couple of days after filling the application we were told it was damaged due to water problems with another apartment and select a new apartment. After much back and forth we selected Apt B and they price matched the rent that we signed up initially for but it isn't available until early February. We have moved our move in date accordingly and then in 2 weeks just before move in we were told the current resident staying in Apt B cancelled their notice to vacate and we were given again different apartments to choose which are available for same move in date. So, we selected Apt C and asked for a price match for what we initially signed up, but the community manager didnt agree as it wasn’t with same floor plan. To get the same floor plan we were told to wait till end of February while we have submitted our paperwork early in January itself for Apt A.It is so frustrating to go back and forth with no proper communication and we werent given an update until we asked what is going on.This is a very unpleasant, tiresome to even find out which apartment they have available and what they can offer. I would caution any one looking to find a place in this community to consider these and make your selection.

Living here since a year, I heard rumors about car break-ins often and now it has happed to mine as well.No cameras inside the garage and no security patrolling. For the huge rent they charge the safety and security is poor and questionable. They said they couldn't do anything

A lot of car break-ins happened and a lot of items were stolen. But no action taken from the office. It just happened in the garage. I personally encountered twice of car break in in the apartment garage.

Crystal and others at leasing office are just the best.Edit:The apartment, amenities, maintenance etc are all good. But please note that there is a fixed charge of 170 USD that they will impose on move out. They conducted a pre move-out inspection which was basically a guy looking around for a minute(!) and had me sign a sheet that mentioned the above cleaning charge. Note that this had nothing to do with the condition of the apartment and nothing was pointed out to us. After we moved out, above amount + another 70 USD for carpet cleaning was debited from my deposit and we were sent some photos of the apartment (with minimal wear and tear) as a justification. IMO, we left the place clean and in great condition. My only gripe is they should have mentioned that this clearly at the beginning for the sake of transparency. I am not sure those charges are justified.Other than that, I had a great stay there and all the staff did a pretty commendable job. They are pretty quick with maintenance etc. And overall, very helpful at the leasing office. (thanks, Crystal)
