No stars at all! This particular H&R Block, was by far the rudest, most unhelpful tax preparers I have ever been to! I had an appointment. But that didn't matter. They stood around sharing pictures of their dogs for over10 mins while i I stood by waiting. Then I was told to wait some more. She finally got back to get me and because i coughed once, she said, "Whatever you got, don't give it to me!!" That was my greeting. Once she found out i had filed my own taxes, but had a question re a letter i recieved from the state tax board about my earned income credit, telling me they owed me more money, she flatley refused to help me. I told her I would pay for her giving me a little help with filling out the form, and she just stared at me! Literally, just looked at me and finally said, "nope, I can't help you, and I dont work for free!" I couldnt believe it! They are way overpriced anyway compared to other tax places and then rude on top of it! I I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone! Office is full of old ladies, more interested in what each other is gonna have for lunch and photos of their pets, than assisting with taxes! I still have not gotten back to the IRS re this letter, which states it owes me more money on my returns. She wouldn't even tell me if I could help on the IRS site. Horrible service! Take your taxes to ANYONE but these people. Mission Viejo H&R block awful! Surprised they get anyone in there!! If I could highlight no stars at all I would!!

This is an absolute joke! Janet the Tax helper there was super unprofessional and rude!! Obviously I went there with my appointment scheduled with them for a reason, I got a letter from the IRS and couldn’t understand it and that’s why I made appointment. Went there waited for her to come after my appointment time already has been passed. The way how she explained the letter to me as I’m stupid and have no clue what’s going on! She said was giving me hard time and she waas mimicking me after I said so, and she was”soooo” !!! Really the worst service ever! On her desk says best HR agent for 25 years!! I really don’t think so.

Would give a 0 or negative if I could. They were so racist. My mother doesn't have an SSN, but ITINs are available to file taxes or anything taxes related. We went in, my mom had asked if someone spoke Spanish, they said no. Nothing wrong with that. I came in like 10 minutes later to help her out. It was a man on the first left side cubicle. On Tuesday, October 10th. The man kept laughing at my mother while she was waiting for me. Then I helped her translating. I practically was telling him how to do his job since he was able to accept ITIN.Not only that, he kept asking my mom about her status which is racist. There's no reason for him to ask. He just needed an ITIN, ID, W-2 form, and bank routing number. It clearly says that on their site. He was so rude and made racist remarks. I didn't lash out or speak up to not make a scene. I simply left with my mother. I will tell all of lake Forest, Laguna bills, and mission to never come to this location. I should be suing you guys.

This is absolutely the worst HR Block office. The staff is rude, the manager is unprofessional and they are incredibly unhelpful. I do not recommend this office to anyone. I am new to California from NJ and I have gone to HR Block for almost 10 years in NJ. This office ruined it I will never again. Such a difference. No help, abrupt not OK. They do not even deserve one star : (

I had a very bad experience after my taxes were filed for 2021.I received a CP 2000 from the IRS 14 days ago. They stated income was not reported on my IRS form. After careful review on my part my tax preparer failed to report my income although it was provided and it was stapled to my packet. I contacted my preparer and gave her my packet as requested. After a whole week she didn't make time for me. Because of her mistake and omissions I owe almost 9K that I simply don't have. I am also being charged interest. I am not a very happy person and I will contact corporate.

NOT at all a good experience for me (in the Aliso Viejo, CA location) as it took me several e-mail messages/requests before I FINALLY received a fee quote, then, once I did, shockingly it came-in 50% HIGHER than the preliminary estimate (given after the preparer had seen my prior year's return?) AND was further qualified by the vague and pathetic "approximately" - WHAT ever happened to their PURPORTED "Upfront transparent pricing" (as is misleadingly asserted on the company website???) When I elevated/explained my concerns and frustrations with a supposed "Client Retention Specialist" she completely ignored my messages/concerns leaving me to conclude the company cares very little about its clients and its reputation.

The tax process is already hard and having a great partner/accountant is crucial. I sought out H&R Block for assistance with an IRS letter to amend a tax return. I had used them online to file my tax return. I was assigned to Janet at the Alicia office and every step of the way was painful from the moment I sat down to go over the letter. It was apparent this person wanted nothing to do with us or the letter. We had to recreate the entire tax return from scratch again at our cost because H&R block online does not speak to local offices and couldn't get an electric copy of our tax return??? The amended return took substantial time to complete and we learned was incomplete after a 2nd IRS letter. We tried to go back for assistance and she flat out would not help us. She stated she was to busy, offered no help and walked back to her cubicle. I have a lot of patience for people but this one was so bad I felt a general review was required while not sharing her last name.I do not leave reviews often but people need to be aware and steer clear of this individual at H&R Block. I am sure she doesn't reflect others that work for this company. However, this complete lack of professionalism and customer service is not acceptable and reflects poorly on H&R Block.

I was treated very poorly by Janet Stavers. If I could leave a 0 star I would. I have been going to this location for years & I do NOT appreciate how rudely I was treated. I will no longer be using H&R Block.

Unfortunately my experience at H&R Block in Mission Viejo was not pleasant. I will be fully transparent in this review, and hope that the way I was treated is changed for future clients / customers.Admittedly, I am a young 27 year old male, and in all honestly, I do not understand taxes completely. This is exactly why I went to H&R Block to understand an issue I had with a letter the IRS had sent me. I was extremely confused and needed some help and clarification on some taxes that I owe the IRS that I honestly thought was an error and money that I did not have to pay.I came into H&R Block and had an appointment with Janet. The initial greeting was displeasing, as I said good morning, she looked at me and saw I had a folder in my hand and said "What's That?" in a tone that was condescending. However, this can be looked past and truly isn't relevant to the following encounter. When I sat down with her I explained that I was honestly confused, I don't know much about taxes, and that I was just looking for some guidance and help. She acted annoyed that I was there for guidance and a question as opposed to an appointment for someone needing their taxes done. Maybe I was wrong to book an appointment for what I did, I'm unsure.Annoyed, she asked me questions and tried to explain to me that I owe money back, and she kept repeatedly saying "You owe us money" and I tried telling her that I spoke with an IRS representative and he had let me know that I did not. I can tell she was getting annoyed because I wasn't fully understanding what she was explaining. It was also embarrassing because I was the only client in the office and there were other Tax Professionals working there and could easily hear our conversation. As she increasingly kept getting annoyed and trying to explain the situation to me, I felt that I grasped the situation just a little bit, but ultimately I left because I felt like I was being talked down to and felt she was being very condescending. Especially when she kept repeatedly saying "You owe us money" in a disdainful manner.I have no issue owing money. If I owe money, then I owe money, that's the bottom line. I am not upset that I owe money, but I am however upset how I was treated by Janet when I went to my appointment.I am content that she at least tried to explain the situation at hand to me, but I would have rather waited 2 hours on the phone with the IRS then have to sit and feel embarrassed because I didn't understand my tax forms or the letter that was sent to me. I came in looking for help and I left feeling embarrassed.I honestly have compassion for all people, so as I left, I told her thank you for clarifying that for me, and told her to have a good day, because life is too short to snap back at someone who didn't treat you the way you thought you should be treated.I am sure Janet is probably a lovely woman, and maybe this was just a bad day. We are human and we make mistakes, and that's okay, but I will not be going back to H&R Block because of this.I hope future clients are treated with respect and kindness when they come in looking for help.-Zack
