I just wanted to add a heart felt thank you to a member of Providence Mission Hospital staff. His name is Mr. John Miller. My friend and I were coming out of the parking garage totally lost and this gentleman was leaving work for home. We asked him for directions and advised why we were there. He immediately told us that trying to get where we needed to be on-time was difficult and he would take us there via a short cut! He took us directly to the area in the hospital where we needed to be even though he was off and probably had somewhere important to be! He was so kind! He actually called the nurse on the floor where we needed to be and had the introductions prepared for us before we arrived! He guided us through the hospital so seamlessly, we were grateful! The nurse, Laura, then came out and greeted us and guided us where we needed to be! Thank you, John, for your kindness to two strangers you met off work in the parking garage! Your heart is open and thoroughly in the light! God speed to you! With gratitude and kindness! Kathryn and Corrie

Worst Hospital Experience EverI had OBGYN Dr Capo - Good DoctorMy pregnancy was very difficult I was sick up to 27 weeks with throwing up and nausea up until baby was born. I was on medication every 4 hours to help with nausea.Day I was induced I had one very helpful nurse and one that would roll her eyes every-time I needed help to adjust as I was in very bad pain from how baby was sitting. I requested more pain medication as much as I could get to still deliver the baby naturally but it still didnt help the pain I was experiencing. Also, the anesthesiologist I had couldnt figure out where to put the epidural the process took over an hour and he assistant was not listening to her either. During labor they decided to bring in several students to watch without my consent and I did get onto one of the nurses afterwards that they need to ask permission first my doctor also did not deliver and the nurse that rolled her eyes every time I asked for anything postponed a doctors arrival as long as possible until I said if you dont get someone in here now im going to start pushing. Every baby was delivered and the bibical cord was cut babys blood sugar dropped and the baby was sent to Nicu at 5pm they didnt allow anyone to take me up until 11pm that evening. This was wrong to do to a new mother and baby. Due to not having a nurse to wheel me up. The service we received was okay in Nicu he had to stay 6 days which was way longer than he needed to be there we were originally told 2 days bc as soon as he was placed in Nicu his blood sugar was back to normal he was also a healthy 7lbs 6oz but then he “developed an eating problem” and they wanted him to eat on their schedule I was not allowed to feed unless there was an active nurse available to assist or be near and it had to be on their every 4 hour schedule not when the baby was hungry and biting on his little hands there was also several specialists that would come give there opinions and suggestions so after day 3 it gets irritating ( everyone has their own way of doing everything and want you doing it their way) could be from the way you are holding the baby to feeding the baby… they also didn't tell us there was a policy of watching videos before the baby could be released until day 3 and rotating doctors. In my charts it would also look as if the nurses up there are grading you by writing messages on the chart “ mother was cooperative and understanding” blah blah blah I had to tell a few off as sometimes you just wanted to bond with your baby and not have someone bugging you every 5,minutes. From Labor to Nicu the experience was unpleasant. The doctor that was on call to deliver however was very nice. I will not be going there for my second delivery as my experience here was horrible.

$2700 bill for a 3 minute check by the ER doctor who gave me a wrong diagnosis and did absolutely nothing.Bled a river for the next 10 hours before I managed to get an appointment with a competent doctor at a different clinic to seal the wound. He fixed me up in 5 minutes. This cost $300.Our health care system is a joke. The doctor who looked at my issue in ER is also a joke.

The staff is kind and caring but waiting at the er for 5 hours after telling them I have chest pains is ridiculous and dangerous. No one with possible heart attack problems should be waiting 5 minutes to get treated by doctors.

I was told by Providence Specialty Orthopedics (COMG) that the Providence Lab Testing opens at 7:30 AM. I came in to check in and at check in I was told they open at 7:45 AM. Then when I walk to the Lab they tell me they do not open until 8:00 AM. Worst service ever. They need to do a better job advertising their hours. All these abrupt changes makes it difficult to get back to work. I would not recommend their services.

Updated review: Always a pleasure to pay $4 to visit a loved one undetgoing treatment. I still have no idea how a hospital in Orange County would charge for parking let alone $4 for an hour. Staff appears to be friendly in my presence but noticed they were quite short with my grandmother when they didn't know I was there. Maybe if this supposed non-profit didn't pay their CFO $481,879 annual salary they might be able to afford the benefit of free parking. Notice that my old review stated $3 an hour for parking so apparently they felt the need to raise the parking rates.Old review: I've decided to change my five star review to this one star review. This place should be ashamed to charge for parking. $3 for the first hour and an additional dollar for every hour after. Charging money to visit one's family in a hospital is asinine. There are no other businesses nearby in which to charge people to deter unwanted people from parking there.I guess the $30,000 a night it costs to stay in this place just isn't enough for these greedy degenerates.

I was seen at this facility on 2/6. Im epileptic so I've been to many hospitals and this one was the very best!! They rapidly treated me and showed a lot of compassion for me and my condition. I wish I could use Dr. Kaplan and Lexi as a primary doctor and nurse. Thank you guys for legitimately saving my life.

Horrible. 10+ hour wait in ER; finally an inexperienced doctor walks in. He didn’t even check my ear for infection which I blatantly complained about. Just gave me a bunch of useless Motrin & Tylenol and left; really? I was in excruciating pain The worst hospital. Never again!

After having severe bleeding in my kidney , liver and spleen from a terrible car accident, this hospital thought it was a good idea to discharge me after only two nights. The nurse Audrey in the intensive surgical unit was amazing , but once they sent me to icu things went downhill. A evil nurse named Sayra called the cops on my boyfriend because he "stood past visitor hours" which ends at 8 pm. Sayra first stated she will "ask her charge nurse if my boyfriend can stay" , but she came back with police for no reason . Sayra was extremely foul for this . She placed implicit bias on me and my boyfriend as soon as her shift began . Absolutely horrendous considering I almost died the day before this in a car crash. Sayra then has the Adasity to later ask how I'm doing (AFTER CALLING THE POLICE on my boyfriend). The shared bedroom where they placed me sounded like a loud marching band the entire night. It's foul of this hospital to have critical condition patients in such loud rooms. Around midnight they were barging in my room to set up a bed next to me that could have been set up all day . They waited until midnight to make the most noise . Very disappointing !

It was Dec. 27, 2004 when I arrived at this emergency room. Being a holiday week, they wereoverwhelmed with patients and understandably busy. The triage nurse determined my vitals were stable enough to not "fast track me, I was taken to the lobby to wait. The lobby was so full that if someone went to the restroom, they returned to find their chair was taken. The news warns that RSV, flu, and COVID abound and the lobby was the perfect breeding place to catch an infection. Masks were not offered, nor were blankets to the many patients shivering there. The AC appeared to be on and to be fair, a blanket could be obtained if asked. I overheard several family members of different patients asking after hours of waiting, when they would be seen by a doctor and it seems no beds were available. At such a busy time a lack of physicians and RN's are understable, but more could be done for the comfort of patients, such as having a nurse assistant checking on how patients are feeling or bringing a cart of warm blankets around. When a patient with no shoes said she was leaving and would rather walk home than wait any longer, the staff only asked for the name so to remove from the list. Shouldn't they have checked vitals, given an update of wait time, or showed compassion? When it comes to medical attention, this ER deserves only 1 star. I nearly gave a 2nd star as receptionists allowed phone calls and even looked up an area code on their computer for an elderly woman lacking a phone. But didn't. That was an act of kindness, unrelated to medical care. More staff for Saturday nights and weekends to meet the demand could help serve the communities needs. Communication via nurse assistants or the like would reassure those waiting hours without it. Just putting an oximeter to measure oxygen levels and pulse on a patient could bring reassurance that one is not forgotten and reduce panic and dispair. I ended up getting a ride home without ever seeing a doctor after untold hours in this ER and swore to myself I'd rather die at home than return. I've done my best to make simple and affordable suggestions so others may receive better treatment in the future.

I have been seeing Dr. Edward Block for a few years now, and he is an excellent doctor. However, I've encountered an issue with his front office person, Lisa at the outpatient facility. The way she communicates with patients is horrible. Not only does she have no regard for privacy, but she is also extremely loud. When I was trying to check in for my colonoscopy procedure, she asked me numerous personal questions that I felt were inappropriate, especially with the waiting area filled with other people. She inquired about my date of birth, the last four digits of my social security number, address, and phone numbers. I attempted to lower my voice and even asked her why she was requesting so much personal information. This seemed in poor taste and against HIPAA law--a complete violation of personal and private information. She asked if I was employed, and when I mentioned that I was retired, she proceeded to ask about my spouse's employment details, including the name of her company and the city where she worked. I was the patient checking in for a colonoscopy procedure, not my wife. Lisa then passive-aggressively stated that Medicare was forcing her to ask these questions and suggested I contact Medicare if I was in disbelief. I have never felt so violated and disrespected in terms of my privacy. I demand that this be investigated because she repeated the same intrusive questioning with other patients during check-in. I clearly overheard their personal information and insurance balance being discussed. Additionally, Lisa informed multiple patients that they had until midnight to pay their balances if they wanted a 15% discount. This practice is concerning. I intend to write a letter to the hospital addressing this matter.

I feel so very fortunate to have Mission Hospital nearby in South OC - the care and professionalism of the staff, along with the exceptional doctors, nurses and clinical technicians is exceptional. Having experienced Mission as a surgical patient in addition to having brought my children and relatives here have made me so grateful. Thank you Mission Hospital - and thank you St. Joseph Health System - for taking such good care of your community.
