I am writing this review to provide my experience with the PNC Bank in Sonora, CA, in 2022 and 2023. In 2022 I opened a personal checking account and had issues immediately. I was getting fraud alerts and could not wire or send Zelle transfers of funds to friends or customers (i.e., utility payments). The fraud alerts were happening multiple times. I became very frustrated and decided to close the account and stick with my Chase account in San Francisco, as I no longer had confidence in a small community bank. When I explained to the teller, he investigated my account. He found that the Bank manager (Ms. April) that processed my account application made several significant errors that were most certainly responsible for triggering the early fraud alert system. I did close my account and opened an account at Bank of America in Sonora. I subsequently sent a registered and notarized letter to the PNC CEO to provide feedback and request compensation for money lost. I received no written response or compensation. I received harassment from the Sonora PNC bank as one of the employees contacted Sonora Social Services (SSS), & reported that I was involved in fraudulent activities. I felt violated of my civil rights as this was misguided and not a legit complaint. I received literature, on elderly abuse related to fraudulent activities, from the Sonora Senior Social Services Department at my property gate and a follow-up call to discuss the accusation. I explained to the SSS provider that this was done as a form of harassment from Sonora PNC Bank staff, as I had provided feedback to their PNC CEO that I was wronged by (Ms. April). She was misguided to file such an accusation toward me, as I was doing my civil duty by providing feedback to prevent further harm to other law-abiding Sonora community citizens merely conducting business. In 2023 I opened a small business account with PNC over the phone with the corporate office. The representative was very nice and professional. She opened the account for me and instructed me to go to the local Sonora PNC Bank to sign the business checking account application. I explained to her that I felt uncomfortable based on my experience in 2022. She assured me they would treat me professionally and I could bank elsewhere should I desire to do so. When I came to my appointment, I was introduced to Ms. Ashley and went on to review and sign the application. I was aware that Ms. Ashley was not acting at ease with me, and I explained to her that I have a disability which meant that I needed her to slow down and explain things to me so that I could understand. Ms. Ashley treated me differently, as she had an attitude that I was not her client. Essentially it was the original PNC representative responsible for opening the account, and therefore Ms. Ashley behaved insultingly. I decided not to go to this branch as my business could be done remotely on my computer. As things turned out, there were two occasions when I had to go into the Sonora PNC Bank due to extenuating circumstances. On the first occasion, I needed to withdraw some cash and transfer funds to my Chase account immediately, and driving to the PNC Bank in Oakdale, CA, was out of the question due to the nature of the emergency. I was dealing with two tellers (I believe the more senior teller, Mr. Dennis W, was training a new teller). The new teller appeared to have issues performing, and Mr. Dennis W was frustrated. Mr. Dennis W was unprofessional and unkind by demanding that I get out and never return. I drove to Oakdale to PNC Bank and called customer service later that day to file a complaint and provide feedback on how Dennis W mistreated me. After several days I finally received a call from a manager in customer service to discuss my complaint. The manager had an attitude and explained that my complaint was noted and archived. There was nothing his department could do as each PNC bank has its procedure for dealing with its employees. I was unsatisfied with his response and decided not to go to the Sonora branch to avoid a hostile

I am 88 yr old man very hard of hearing. I have been to this bank several times trying to find out why money was taken from my account. I had $2000.00. Finally the bank destroyed my debit card and gave me a new one and told me to contact the Fraud Dept by phone which I did. They told me they needed to verify I was who I was and asked me for an old ph # from a cell I no longer had, they asked me questions but I am very hard of hearing and they refused to help me. The guy was Scott from customer service in Texas and Sharon From retail services. They said they need to have this information for my protection. What the hell are they protecting my money has been taken by someone else and I got no help. Scott then told me to go back to my bank in person but what for they are the ones who told me to call this fraud #. I need to file a lawsuit to get them to reverse the charges and need to know if there are any other victims so we can file a class action against these crooks!

Due to unforeseen circumstances my account at PNC Bank became overdrawn due to 2 checks being returned as the account they were drawn on was frozen. PNC Bank has to date charged my account two $12.00 returned item fees as well as two $36.00 overdraft fees, putting my account further into a negative balance. I deposited funds via their ATM for more than the negative balance. I went into the branch to discuss the issue. The representative I spoke to called their "back" office and said there was nothing they could do. They suggested I call PNC's Customer Service number. The CS representative on that line out me on hold to speak to a Supervisor but came back online that there was nothing they could do to expedite verification of the funds. I am of the opinion that no one at PNC Bank was willing to make a call to the Credit Union the check was drawn on to verify over the phone that the check is good. They certainly did make funds available for withdrawal the next business day for the two returned items making it seem as if they were giving this Senior Citizen the impression they were looking out for their Customers best interests. I am not impressed by their "level" of Customer Service as they also put through a payment against the negative balance further overdrawing my account. In good conscience I would not recommend banking with PNC Bank.

Good until it wasn't. My account was set up to where I would never be over charged if I did not have enough money for something, it should be declined. That was fine until for some reason I was charged for one thing in the middle of the pandemic while I was unemployed, and was over charged. Charges piled up until they closed my account without warning of it being closed. I should have never been over charged. New bank here I come ??

This is the absolute worst bank I have ever dealt with. They took 150 as a fee to do a simple account look up! It's 7 days later and still nobody at bbva has been able to furnish any proof that a levy was even requested! Ive provided both the branch and corporate with proof from California child support that no levy was ever requested! Yet they still are claiming one was! Then to top it all off anytime I call to question where the proof is they tell me that department is closed. Ive called everyday for 5 days at differing times but their always closed! I banked with bank of America for 13 years and never had this issue but within 3 months bbva has proved they are crooks and liars!

First, let me say this has nothing to do with the individual employees at this branch. This is a review for the bank itself. That said, the ATM outside this branch is often broken or out of service. I deposited my first paycheck at Guaranty bank 18 years ago. Guaranty was subsequently bought out by BBVA following the global recession. Since then the terms of my account have progressively gotten worse. I used to have: free checking, free checks, no ATM fees, ATM fee refunds. Those are all gone now. They charge for checks. They charge a fee if you use an outside bank's ATM on top of the fee that machine charges. I just got hit with a $10.95 monthly service charge. It's the same account, same account number, I'm the same person. They snuck most of the changes in on my grandfathered account from the good old days when I had to sign a form to get a new debit card after the one I had had been compromised. I just have one last autopayment that I am having difficulty re-routing to my new credit union account. As soon as that is changed I will be closing this account and will forevermore recommend against anyone doing business with this company. Don't give heartless giant megabanks your hard-earned money - their only concern is how they can siphon off as much of it for themselves as possible. Join a credit union.

No security around and transients littered all over parking lot starring down people at the ATM and begging for money. Not a safe place to do your banking!
