Great spot if your riding 4 wheelers and need a break. Nice store and beer garden. Only issue is the price gouging, they sell a local beer for nearly 20 bucks a six pack, which is double what the brewery charges only a 40 minute drive away.

I went to thos store back in the 80’s with a friend who happened to get into some cactus. The store clerk or owner helped my friend get the cactus out of his leg and sent us on our way. We were about 13 then and I always stop when in the area to support this great store.
The Jawbone Canyon Store was originally started by Pancho Barnes and her husband Mac Mc Kendry in the early 1960's. Pancho and Mac moved to Jawbone after their Happy Bottom Ranch in Muroc (now Edwards Air Force Base) mysteriously burned to the ground following years of the US government trying unsuccessfully to obtain the property. Pancho Barnes was a pioneering aviatrix, successful entrepreneur a good friend to many Hollywood film stars and the dare devil pilots like Chuck Yeager who were frequent guests of the Happy Bottom Ranch. With the demise of the Happy Bottom Ranch, Pancho and Mac came to Jawbone Canyon to try their luck once again.
