Incredible denim repair work- one of the few I trust with my jeans. Helpful staff that communicates extremely well. Will definitely make my return. The craftsmanship on their own garments is also something to behold.

Railcar Fine Goods is a denim lover’s dream—Japanese selvedge meticulously cut and sewn in-house at their LA store-factory. It’s the antithesis of fast fashion: timeless, top-tier, and the price-to-quality ratio is unbeatable. The craftsmanship is surgical, the fit sublime, and the staff? Unpretentious pros.

Great experience at Railcar. Took two pairs of Full Count's to be hemmed, thinking I'd have to make a return journey a few days later to get them, but they were hemmed on the spot for me. Very happy with the quality of the chain stitch, too.
Edit: had a third pair of jeans hemmed at Railcar. Shout out to them to really accurately colour matching thread 🙏🏼

Sent a new pair of Tanuki jeans to get tapered that were a bit big in the thighs along with my favorite pair for reference. The results are incredible. Measurements between the two pairs are identical, the new pair fits just how I like, and the quality of the stitching makes it impossible to even tell they were ever tailored. Will ABSOLUTELY be using this service again.

I ordered a pair of jeans that were a little small. Sarah took time to really help me find something more suitable via phone and email. I ended up coming in and was helped by Edward who was wonderful. The denim I went with is the nicest I have ever seen. The quality of their products is second to none, and the fact that they are produced here in America is the cherry on top. Great customer service and great products all around.

I sent in a pair of my Pure Blue Japan jeans to have them tapered using their mail in service. They did a fantastic job and got the measurements exactly right. Turn around time was much faster than I expected too. Would highly recommend, I’ll be sending in more denim soon!

Buyer beware. I wanted to like this company so much, truly, but my experience with them was not good. On 1/16 I ordered a pair of their flight trousers. I could have gotten a similar pant of the same quality elsewhere but I chose them because they claim to offer a free complimentary chain stitch. I went ahead and purchased the pants. The next day I reached out to them to specify the length I want via email.Their response 1/18: "Requesting a custom inseam would make the order final sale and not eligible for exchange or return. Since this appears to be your first order with us we would first like to ensure that the sizing and fit works for you so we would be sending your order out with our regular length inseam. This will give you the flexibility to size up or down if needed. Once you have ensured that the sizing works, we can definitely provide the free hemming service for you for this order as well as any future orders in the same fit." My response 1/18: "No, please send a 31.75 length. If you can't, I understand and I'll accept a refund. Thanks." Their reply 1/19: "Before we proceed with the hemming service, we do want to let you know that pretty often customers who order our size 28 trousers end up needing a size 29 or 30. So we can do the 31.75 inch inseam if you can confirm that you are ok with the trousers being final sale and not eligible for exchange or return, but we would highly recommend trying them on first so that you do not end up with a pair of pants that don't fit you. Given that, would you like us to proceed with the hem or would you like to try them on first? We can always do the hem later." I thought that things would be smooth sailing from there and I would get my pants in a reasonable time. Spoiler alert: that absolutely did not happen. 2/13 arrives and still no pants. I went ahead and sent an email about the status of my order. Their reply 2/15: "I'm not entirely sure on the time frame right now, I just know that your pants are currently in production. I'll try to get you an ETA by the end of this week, I just need to check with the production manager." At this point I was really frustrated with them since their webpage for this product says: "PLEASE NOTE: Sizes 28-29 and 40-46 are cut and sewn when ordered. Please allow extra time for production for these sizes." Emphasis on the "cut and sewn WHEN ORDERED" part. That was untrue. 2 more weeks go by and still no update or ETA. At this point I felt that they were taking advantage of me and had no intention on shipping my product any time soon. I reached out on 2/27 letting them know I would cancel my payment with PayPal. (Thank goodness for paying through PayPal!) That did the trick because they replied on 2/28: "I just checked and your pants are currently in production and they are being put to the front to go out to you by this week. As soon as your order is packed, we will send over an email with the tracking number! Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime." Funny how that works. My reply 2/29: "If they're not in transit on Friday with tracking I'll escalate my claim with PayPal. At this point you've been dishonest and quite frankly I don't want any of your products." Their reply on 2/29: "We understand, they are packing up the pants right now, just got the hardware on. Thank you again for your patience, you will receive a tracking# in a bit." Guess they weren't about to risk having to give me my money back after giving me the runaround 6 weeks because guess what? I received a tracking # on 2/29! Finally they told the truth! (It's the small wins.) I received my pants today (3/2) and guess what - they fit like all of my other size 28 waist pants. The unit of measurement known as an inch remains constant across companies, go figure. Hope this saves someone from the same frustration that I had to endure.

Great experience with the employees of this store. It is aesthetically pleasing to look around, and there are some great vibes here.
Love the selection of brands and clothing, and although the prices may be slightly high for the demographics of the area, the quality of brands this store carries is enough justification.
"Better to buy nice than to buy twice."
5/5

I'm really disappointed to have to share this review. I decided to try out Railcar for their denim hemming service. I had a simple request: take off 1 inch from a brand new pair of $300 jeans. Unfortunately, they made a serious mistake and ended up taking over 2 inches off, rendering the jeans completely unwearable. I even made sure to take a before photo to document the original length, and after the hemming, I took another photo clearly showing the excess 2 inches that were removed. I promptly sent them the photos, and they agreed to take the jeans back to fix the error. However, instead of admitting fault, they only restored 1 cm of fabric and then proceeded to deny any wrongdoing. I provided them with undeniable photographic evidence, yet when the manager eventually called me, she was aggressive, dismissive, and refused to acknowledge the photos as proof. It was incredibly frustrating to be told that I was only offering "hearsay" despite presenting clear visual evidence. The manager's refusal to own up to the mistake and her insistence that they did nothing wrong left me feeling helpless and out of $300 due to the now ridiculously short jeans. It's really disheartening because Railcar is a small independent business that offers unique services. FWIW the person named Jenna I initially spoke with was understanding and tried to assist. However, the behavior of the manager was beyond disappointing. Her rudeness and refusal to address the situation appropriately has left me with a bitter experience. I caution anyone considering their denim hemming service to steer clear.

Got my jeans hemmed here, and they came out amazing. Great staff with awesome customer service. Wish I would've asked for a name, but the guy who helped me with the process was super helpful (tall guy with glasses). Super fast turnaround waited like 10 minutes while I looked around the store. Highly recommended for alterations, and they have a great selection of denim and work wear.

Needed a new barber. Been seeing the shop for a while. Found out they had a barbershop and made an appointment. Got a combover, high tight fade, and hard part. Timmy did a great job. Took his time.

Hands down the best place you can take your high end / raw / selvedge denim to be worked on. Nobody can compete on price, quality, and level of service. The product array in the store is also top notch. I took my prized Hiroshi Kato jeans in for chainstitch hemming and James was the most helpful guy - helped me get them the EXACT way I wanted them and put up with my OCD level of concern for how they were going to be worked on. The final product was phenomenal, I won't go anywhere else. What a gem of a spot. They also hook up 15% off in store purchases with service purchase (hem, stitch, darn, haircut, etc.)...pretty incredible deal. Love this place and happy to support a local spot using USA materials and labor and the local community. Their core branded products are also incredible, likely coming back for the black selvedge jacket in the very near future.

This is a great, locally-owned store with a good selection of curated brands/pieces (especially domestically made goods). In-house denim services are also excellent, as they can accommodate more complex and specialized alterations. Staff (Jenna and James) were super helpful and friendly, as well!
