My niece who we will call M, complains to me each time she returns from dialysis. She gives the impression that this dialysis center provides poor care and has made mistakes in the past that could cost her life. My response to her was to provide them with some medical suggestions so the same behavior does not repeat again. For example, her vital signs were constantly elevated. M was a walking disaster for a heart attack or stroke. M told me she was told there was nothing else that could be done to lower her blood pressure. I suggested procardia and she came home with an Rx for procardia. Last week I found her and her bed sheets soaking wet, a sign of low blood pressure.M said the dialysis center med nurse gave her two clonidine 0.1 mg to lower her blood pressure and she wasn't able to wake up. M lives in my home food and rent free, because she was told she cannot have stress from the dialysis center. We learned that she was non-compliant with her meds. We asked her to take better care of herself or to relocate. M texted me that she had no reason to live. I called the dialysis center to speak to the social worker in order to help me talk her out of suicide. The social worker was rude and said she did not want to break HIPPA. I never asked about M's condition, HIPPA was never broken. I have taken care of M since the inception of dialysis. I am an old timer and was around when we were formulating HIPPA. I called the police for help. They told me she was no longer suicidal and I was content with the outcome. M lives rent free, food free with other free commodities. To Learn that I was not on her list at the dialysis center came as a shock to me. One time M came home from dialysis so ill that she was transferred to a hospital. M complains about the dialysis center a minimum of 3 times a week. M says there have been situations where she was scared to sustained partial or full damage to her body. As the public, please look into the dialysis center before making a choice, don't choose only to regret. M has decided to leave our home instead of complying with her meds within a timely manner.
