I'm usually a 5 star giver ..maybe too much. There's no staff here! No instructions nothing on how to return the car. I returned my rental on 2/25 at 10:15am. I was supposed to return at 11am. No one was around so I dropped the key in the dropbox. They don't check the box every hour to see what keys are coming back? Whoever works there didn't end up checking my car in until 2/26 at 7am the next morning. So what happened? Avis thought I kept the car an extra 21 hours. What's that mean? extra charges for a car that was already returned. Oh here's a pic of mileage. Bad. However, I did call and the phone agent said they'd reverse charges... we'll see if they hold true to word.Avis can check the OnStar in that car and see it hasn't moved in the window I dropped it off to when they checked the car back in.Update: got my refund. They still jipped me out of 2 dollars I was never supposed to pay in the first place.Wasn't my smoothest rental experience. So bumped up the stars, slightly.

I am often using this car rental company and they are always so polite and quick to help.I had to swap my rental recently and it was a very quick and easy transaction.

Poor service. We called the Avis ofc at Monterey Airport to ask if they could look for a business cc that was left by the driver. The guy said we checked the vehicle before sending out to our lot. One of our drivers went by theo Monterey Airport, found the off site lot and the subject vehicle. He checked inside and found the cc & documents in the glove box. Abis employees cannot be trusted to be honest.

First they gave me a car that smelled like an ashtray. I literally couldn't stomach the smell and had to take the time out of my work trip to exchange the car, which was a huge inconvenience. Then after I've already submitted my expense reporting for my work trip, they slap me with a bogus toll charge through E-toll. I literally didn't drive on a single toll road. The customer service staff said NOTHING about it. What a racket and a sham. Good job losing my business. Thank goodness there are other rental options at the Monterey Airport.

I rented a Tesla and there was no charge adapter. When I tried to call this local office, they never answered. I called daily for multiple days. The central office provided no help. And no one could confirm if I could use a Tesla supercharger. When I asked the central office to bring it back less than the charge level I rented it at, for this reason, it was not straightforward. The gentleman on the phone eventually said it was ok, but it was stressful, challenging, and time consuming.

Beware when reserving online. The process defaults to pay-in advance. They don't tell you that you are receiving a discount in return for a non-refundable payment. It's a SCAM!!

I got a damaged vehicle and the manager was extremely unhelpful rude and unprofessional.Assuming that your customer is lying is a great way to permanently lose business.I heavily advise to go use other rental companies.The vehicle had supposedly been inspected before hand shows how little attention to detail avis has at this location. They don't care about their customers at Avis what they care about is making you fix their cars.

The Monterey Airport location is sad. Staff have zero people skills with regards to how they greet a customer approaching the rental counter. It's just a blank stare as if to say "why are you here." Maybe smile and say Hi, how may I help you."Then in my recent rental on 9/16. the counter person overcharged me twice and each time refused to tell me the charges out loud so we could discuss them and correct them. He would just keep charging my cc and then printing me out a receipt. On the third time he got it right after I had to disprove him with the rental agreement totals. Sad.

The staff and experience was outstanding. We got an upgrade and were so pleased. We had a speedy check in and out. I will use Avis on my next rental.

Not a company I will do business with again. Charges not what I originally paid for and added gas charges even though I filled it up not 2 miles from airport. Staff must be getting their gas via us. Over $250 extra in fees added. Shop wisely and elsewhere.

Returned a vehicle on Friday, handed the keys directly to a worker behind the counter and now Monday morning getting told I never returned my rental. Customer service is giving me a runaround trying to get this figured out. Never using avis in Monterey again

Avis will continue to get my business. We rented in Monterey for the US Open and the booking online, and app process was easy, accurate, timely, and clear. We modified our drop off through the app after a flight modification and again, easy and clear. By far the best vender we worked with for this trip, including airline, hotel booking, and the USGA! I only wish Avis was responsible for locating our lost luggage ?
