Travelling from the UK to different locations in the US, we were just grateful that all our other overnight stops were not as bad as this one. It stated it was a 2 star. Someone needs to look at the rating. Would be hard pushed to make it a 1 Star. The only thing I will say is that our a/c worked. When entering the room allocated to us, I thought it could not be as bad as it looked. How wrong I was. Closer inspection revealed a balcony you would not want to sit out on. It\t \t\tneeded a damn good clean. The patio door would not open and close properly. There was one chair in the room so my husband had to bring in a filthy chair from the balcony so he could sit down. The bedding looked as though it hadn't been changed but the sheets were all bits anyway so it was hard to tell. Long time since I was in a hotel that didn't use cotton sheets !! We went to reception and asked if we could be moved to a different room but was told there was not one available. We then asked if we could at least have a bedside lamp. 2 beside lamps were delivered to the room. No lampshades on them but we were grateful we got that much. At least they worked. The pics and description of the rooms did not match what we were allocated and I would advise you think twice before booking here. The place has absolutely nothing going for it at all except location, but there are better places in the same location. There are no breakfast options but there is parking.

The 2 stars is basically for the location and it is fairly clean even though it is run down. I've stayed here many times in the past and had a good experience. Won't book again. Went to check in at the desk and even though someone was sitting there doing nothing they made me check in on a virtual kiosk which kept breaking up and losing connection. Would never have worked for someone with hearing problems like my mom who was with me. They now charge for parking. Carpet was damp when we entered the room. Again I had to use the app for everything so I chose late check out for $30 because I was whale watching and didnt want to stress about time. Got a call at 11:18 that the cleaning staff was in my room and why hadn't I checked out. I explained the late check out but they couldnt find it. So I rushed back instead of stopping for breakfast only to get a text when I was almost there that oops they found my late check out confirmation. Definitely a different experience than I've had there in the past and for the price, I have no need to stay there again.

I had a horrible experience here. I booked this hotel for two nights, but my family and I were asked to leave after only one because there was an issue with the booking — even though I had already paid for both nights. The hotel had overbooked and decided to give our room to someone else.
We were on our way to dinner with our toddler, who was tired and hungry, and because of this situation, we missed our reservation that took days to arrange. My son was crying, and it completely ruined our evening.
The front desk staff member was polite and simply following instructions, but the manager, David, was the one who made the decision to have us leave. There was no empathy, accountability, or effort to make the situation right.
We ended up booking a room at the Monterey Bay Inn across the street, and the difference was immediate. The room was spacious and spotless, the staff were professional and kind, they brought breakfast to our door, and they even gave us a same-day booking discount.
This hotel needs to be far more mindful about how they treat paying guests. Overbooking happens, but displacing a family — especially one with a young child — without any solution or apology is unacceptable.

This hotel has great customer service, however the rooms need maintenance desperately. My bathroom sink was off of its wall mount and had mold behind it. See pics below. Immediately entering the room I noticed I had allergies and didn’t know the cause till I looked around. Mold mitigation is a must for a hotel especially on the coast. Front desk worker was super nice.

I stay here often. It's my favorite place to stay in Monterey. The front staff was nice but, the new check in process at the kiosk was bizarre. The room was nice but the bathroom towels were small and the water pressure was not very good.

Great location, but you do have to walk through the quiet part of Cannery row to get to the lively area. The motel is getting tired, but good value.

I would have given it a five star rating however our room was not done until 345 when it was supposed to be ready at three. And the girl that changed shifts didn’t tell the other girl what was going on so we had to go into the office and ask if our room was ready.

The hotel is older but you can see they have made updates. The room was clean and it was a very quiet stay.

Easy walk to cannery row for people who walk otherwise a short drive to all the good stuff. Awesome and helpful staff! Super clean rooms and easy access. Only thing that I must say is parking is not free

I wish the lady who received us, would have been less rude. She talks too fast telling us to check in by ourselves on Whatsup and then she assumed the Whatsup was working well, she got impatient and put the blame on us I had to ask her a couple times to do it for us and not even she was able to fix it.

PROS-great location. Room was comfortable and very quiet even with the sea lion invasion 😃.
CONS-poor water pressure in the shower. Toilet tank took at least 30 minutes to fill ☹️
