I adore Dr. Herrmann and her incredible staff!! She helped me ease thru having to put a previous pet to sleep and is my go-to for any issues with my pets. She won't give you any bs and shoots straight with where your pet's health is at. If you are expecting someone to just tell you what you want to hear or, like the previous reviewer, have some wildly entitled notion that you can stop the entire functioning of her ER vet services so that you can give her uneducated "guesses" as to what you think is going on based on some simple google searches ... yea, that previous reviewer clearly found out Dr. Herrmann does NOT suffer fools or foolishness. What she DOES do, and better than any other vet i've ever seen, is get your animal fixed up and on the mend. I'm sorry for my anger showing thru in this post about something someone else wrote, but Dr. Herrmann is a saint and cussing her out in German is not something i will allow to go unanswered

My cat nibbled on a Cala Lilly. I called and was told I needed to immediately bring my cat in as well as the calla Lilly plant. The vet, Dr Herrmann told me my cat would die without immediate help. She gave medicine to make her vomit and then gave her charcoal and ran tests to check her kidney function. She then wanted to put her on 48 hour IV care even though the tests showed zero kidney damage. I declined the IV treatment. The vet wanted to charge me almost $2k for this treatment. Once I brought my cat home I researched and discovered that calla Lillie's are NOT deadly to cats like the vet told me! It's not a true lily! Yes they are poisonous but really more of an irritant than anything else. The proper care should have been washing the cats mouth out and checking her mouth for sores and then potentially giving an antihistamine if necessary. The next day my cat was perfectly fine and back to normal. So my cat was given the wrong treatment, we both were caused undue stress and I was charged an extreme amount of money for nothing! I have called the vet twice now on two separate days and she is not returning my calls. I keep getting the run around that she's too busy. Clearly she could care less about making her errors right. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Dr. Katja Herrmann is a emergency Veterinarian that I would never recommend to anyone. This woman is all about making money for inadequate veterinary services. I took my dog into this clinic and they said it looked as if she had been poisoned. I was told to leave her so that Dr. Herrmann could exam her. I trusted this facility which proved to be a big mistake. I phoned several times asking about the situation with my dog and each time was told the doctor never examined her. Late the next day I received a call to show up immediately with no further explanation nothing. I drove like I was back in Germany hitting speeds of 100mph and more. When I arrived the receptionist said my dog was fine and ready to go home. I asked her if I could speak with Dr. Herrmann because I wanted to know what they did. In fact the doctor heard me ask the receptionist and walked out of the room. The receptionist said that my dog was fine and wanted payment. I paid $2000 on my credit card and left with my dog who was very happy to see me. I got her home and tried phoning the clinic to speak with Dr. Herrmann. Once again she refused and I have no idea what she did as far as treatment is concerned. How can they say she went from critical to a miraculous recovery? This woman is not a person I would trust with any animal. And what further disgusts me is that she could have spoken with me in English or German. This emergency clinic most definitely deserves zero stars. Frau Dr. Herrmann LMAA wenn sie das verstehen dumme Fotze!!

Great experience for me. My pug's face swelled up after she tried to eat a bee. These folks are open 24 hrs so that worked fantastic - we went in at 8pm and had no wait. Front desk staff helpful and confident, vet gave us some shots and we were on our way - problem solved!

Susan Garlinghouse, Ali and the sweet gentleman I never caught the name of were absolutely amazing in helping save our new salukis broken front legs. The moment we walked in they held her in their arms with so much love. Caring, knowledgeable, quick, patient, and professional. Dr Garlinghouse was even able to have favor from a friend of hers to do last minute surgery. The surgeon was fantastic and our dog was walking in just a few days. We are so happy to have found this clinic with these wonderful people for the worst day of her life. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and may god bless you all

A+++++ Dr. Herrmann, Dr. Garlinghouse & Adrienne are truly the most knowledgeable, caring & professional in the industry. The whole team are just fantastic people. The level of care they treat your pet with is bar none above the rest. When your dealing with a pet that has a genetic disorder that is rare, and not well understood it's super important to have the best advocates. Super happy with the service, and care Monterey Peninsula provides.

Dr.Greenlinghouse not only showed, but was as compassionate as anyone could hope for. This helped a bit when we had to release our sweetest little girl, Coco, to heaven.

Traveled 20 miles with a very sick dog only to arrive and be told there was no doctor at the site. Definitely call before you go.

I moved here from out of state and am no stranger to dogs' ailments having loved multiple mutts and pedigrees at a time. In the last dozen years, my life conditions have permitted me only one at a time. I needed a place to handle my aging pets transition to the Rainbow Bridge and this was definitely the location. They understood my desire to be there for my sightless, deaf, dwindling in strength little boy and to see him humanely through to sleep. It was actually, as most were, incredibly peaceful. Staff was understanding, suggesting that I make an appointment in order to save money (yes it was an issue for me), and I could not be more satisfied with the care and service. Not outcomes are what you want them to be, but when you do decide to let your pet go and you have the luxury of planning, take the painless and compassionate step with MPVES.

I have a local vet that I use but am grateful to have this emergency clinic open 24/7 close by. I've only had to use them once for my dog, and had zero issues with the staff or doctor. It is more expensive then going to my normal vet in Monterey- but that is expected. You are paying for the luxury of 24/7 available care. A big thank you to all the staff there

I called and spoke to Dr Garlinghouse on Saturday after BluePearl quoted us $13,000 for a foreign body removal surgery on our dog. We were at a complete loss feeling like we were going to have to put our dog down due to an inability to afford this surgery. Dr Garlinghouse immediately told me to bring our dog to MPVESC and that they would be able to do the surgery for nearly half that. I was very pleased with the immediate attention they gave us when I arrived and Dr Garlinghouse quickly read our dogs chart and drew up an estimate for us. She even included an extra elective surgery for our dog that could potentially prolong her life in the future. Even after adding the elective surgery we still ended up paying less than half what BluePearl quoted us. Not only was it cheaper, I was so impressed with the staff and the care they gave our dog. Dr Garlinghouse called me immediately after surgery in the middle of the night to let me know everything went well and then again later in the day on her personal cellphone so I could call her with any questions or concerns. I truly just can't express how grateful I am for the care they provided our dog and the compassion they showed towards her and our family. If we weren't moving out of the area, we would 110% make MPVESC our primary vet. We are just SO grateful to have our dog home with us thanks to Dr Garlinghouse and her team after thinking we wouldn't be able to afford the surgery.

Saved my cats life. I brought my cat here at 1am thinking he would have died. He was having really bad seizures and was acting very strange all day after giving him flea medication. Found out the flea meds were toxic to him and that's why he was seizing. A few minutes after bringing him in, he went into cardiac arrest and flatlined. The staff did chest compressions and shocked his heart and got him back. Picked him up not even 24hrs later and he is looking great! Would have lost him if I didn't bring him here. I cannot believe they saved his life and he's better than ever in just one day thanks to their help. Only paid $1500 which I think is a great price for emergency life saving measures and an overnight stay for my boy!

This vet allegedly has a contract with the county to care for injured strays. We called ahead of time and they told us to bring an injured stray in and all we had to do was sign some paperwork. We bring the dog in, and they tell us they can only care for the wound if it's fresh. The dog is at most 10 weeks old. So basically we wasted a trip to Monterey to take an injured stray that they wouldn't even treat. Absurd. Every time we call them they claim they only take life and death emergencies. Completely useless.

It been a long time but, a time ago, my puppy started feeling unwell and he stopped eating and one night he was so weak we panicked and looked for a vet and every place was closed except for this place, we took peppe and they took us in pretty fast and eventually they diagnosed him with Parvo and my parents payed for his medication. Thanks to this vet place, my dog survived Parvo virus. I'm great ful that they were open that night and that they were able to help us. Here is a picture of strong peppe after fighting and surviving Parvovirus !!
