I used to work here between 1975 and 1976. It was called Rainey's Market then. It had been a family owned market since it opened. They had the best fresh meat I have ever found. The current owner was kind enough to catch me up on the previous owners. Sadly they have all passed away. But the daughter still owns the property. So it is still kind of in the family. I didn't have time to try their meat but hope to go back sometime in the future.

They make up their prices and cheat people on their change, they tried to charge me $5 for 1 Gatorade!! I'll NEVER GO TO THAT STORE AGAIN.

I was in this building, years ago when it was known as RAINEY'S MARKET, not RALEY'S MARKET.This was during a Moorpark hometown [from Oklahoma] visit sometime back in the mid to late 1970's.I remember buying a much needed cold rainbow colored Snow Cone.I returned to where we were visiting, and that was at the corner of Millard and Dorothy Street, at the Oney house that it was known as then.It was just down the street from 269 Dorothy Street, where my Uncle Wallace, Aunt Iris Gayle and two cousins, Diana and Carthel lived as residents at that time, the SKELLY(S) also.

This was the number one go to spot for al pastor the meat was just by far the best I've ever received for all the friends of mine that we had our barbecues together and felt like we could be rich like the people are living on top of the hill although they could be all angry and frustrated and pamper the way they're brought up to be we had our little barbecue in the backyard and some beer just make us feel good about ourselves to live that rich lifestyle to where we felt we could fit in
