If I could give 0 stars I would. Came here to get some tax help and wound up walking out of their office 10 minutes later having gotten nothing other than a headache.
Gary was the tax professional assigned to help me and right out the gait I had concerns when he told me I could just skip filing state taxes cause “they’re just a rip off.” Then Gary was having trouble finding the documents I uploaded to their system in advance of my appointment (which I had done at the advice of the office when I made the appointment because allegedly the tax person assigned to me would be able to review them before I got there that way). Gary became frustrated when he couldn’t located the documents immediately and said “well I can’t help you.” When I suggested we see if someone else might be able to help find them he snapped back at me “I’m the best one in this office, I’m a CPA and you don’t want to cross me. I’ve got a temper.” I told him that I could already see that he has a temper and I wasn’t sure how it was helping the situation and then he looked me straight in the face and just said “goodbye.” I can’t say for sure if the others at this location are as unprofessional and unhelpful as Gary but if you wind up assigned to him run for the hills.
The woman at the front desk was very kind and did offer to connect me with someone else but ultimately the next available appointment they had wouldn’t work for me. I will likely never use H&R Block again.

I will never go back to H&R Block. I pay them $350 to do my taxes 100% correctly. The Morgan Hill H&R block is horrible. This is the second year in a row they have made the same error. Last year I asked them to electronically have the money drafted from my account. We finalize the taxes and the lady gives me an envelope and instructions on how to send in my taxes. I politely pointed out that this was not the way I asked for my taxes to be filed, but didn’t make a big deal of it. That evening, when I went home, I wrote out a check and placed it in the envelope and mailed it out. The lady calls me 2 days later and tells me, “I was able to change the tax filing method to automatically draft from your account.” I was alarmed, because I had just sent an $11,000 check to the IRS and now they are going to be not only taking that check but automatic drafting another $11,000. After talking with the manager the next day, they informed me that the filing method was not actually changed and that the lady was mistaken.
This year, I was getting a return from the State but I owed Federal taxes. I told them I want them to auto-draft and auto-deposit both. 2 weeks later I get a check for my state taxes, alerting me to a problem, as it should have been deposited directly into my account. I knew I owed Federal taxes so I wanted to see if it was going to be auto-draft it from my account or did I need to write a check and mail it again. At first, when I explained the situation, he tried to tell me that I neglected to tell him. After I politely provided the hard copies of my communication through the MyBlock app stating that I wanted the money automatically taken care of and asked why it didn’t get done. The guy responded, “I don’t see the problem, you got your money. I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.” I responded, “How am I doing that. I need to know if the Federal taxes are going to be taken out of my account. I don’t want to go past the deadline and get penalized. Also, I have been very patient in explaining this. If you can tell me one thing I have said that is rude or out of line I will apologize to you right here”. He was quiet, because I had said nothing out of line or rude. After a silence he continued, “Well, are you out any money?” I responded, “$350 to have you file my taxes” He said, “That is the cost of filing your taxes with H&R Block”. To which I respond, “Well it is safe to say, I won’t have that expense next year.” I went home and refiled my taxes, as an experiment, using TurboTax online. It took me 47 minutes to put in all my information. They showed very similar amounts (within $68 of H&R Block’s numbers) and they were going to charge me only $78 (hypothetically saving me $204). I definitely am NOT going back to Morgan Hill H&R Block.

James at this H&R block was so patient and so helpful with all the tax questions my husband and I had. He took the time to get to understand our situation and provide the appropriate guidance. He explained a lot about CA tax laws and how to calculate specific things for us. It is clear he genuinely cares about helping others and is happy to share advice. Thank you so much James!

If I could give this place a 0, I would. I do NOT recommend anyone going here. Let me repeat. Do NOT come here !!! This place will grossly overcharge you to prepare your taxes !!! My son came here to do a simple tax return and was charged well over $200.00. This " tax specialist" later admitted that with State and Federal , he should not even be charged that much after she was confronted to provide an explanation of the fees, which she hesitantly did not want to provide! I wonder how many people out there were overcharged like my son. For the price they charge here, save yourself the trouble and just go to a CPA.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Just don't go here. Coming from a loyal client of 3 years since I didn't know any better. Going to an H&R Block is like playing Russian roulette with your taxes. Might as well flush your return down the toilet. Prathiba was the person who did my taxes this year and she was very incompetent. All in all I ended up going back 4 times within 2 days, expecting to be done with things the final three times. But twice left disappointed because she could not figure out the computer program. She had to bring over the on-duty CPA twice and also had to call support. I paid $400 to get my taxes done ($450 with a 50 buck credit for all my troubles) for an on-paper income that is certainly right near the poverty level this year. Prathiba made sure that every dollar I earned (even the $1 of dividends I made) was reported and charged me $25 to file that IRS form. Driving Uber and Lyft counts as your "own business" and since my expenses were over $2,000 total, that's another $125 that I had to shell out. For her there was no possible was around this, even though the expenses driving for each individual company were both under the $2,000 threshold. For every possible reason to increase my tax bill to H&R Block, it seemed like Prathiba took joy in doing so. In my opinion, a good tax person bends the circumstances in your favor to get a bigger return, not the opposite. To boot, she would even sound condescending at times as to why I was being charged so much and I left feeling robbed....

Anything that could have gone wrong did. You're better off doing them yourself and skipping the steep preparation fees as well as the penalties you will have to pay the government for incorrect filing. Never again.

Wish I could give them lower than one star. It’s been months and i still haven’t received my tax return. They won’t get in contact with me. They won’t tell me what is holding it up.
