I'll just say I'm taking my precious cat back to our original vet who is more pricey but worth it

Our 5 year old dog was diagnosed with what they thought was cancer. I tried for 7 days to get a call back to go over the results from the $2000 tests we had done, 7 days!! We had the worst experience I could have ever imagined during one of the worst times possible. The biggest irony was getting a call from them to check up on our dogs to see how they were doing and that they needed their vaccines!! When I say do not go here for anything I cannot stress this enough!

Every time I went to this place they charge me for services that I didn't approve. Make sure you check your receipt. But the worse is that problems don't event get cure so you have to keep bringing your pet in. The only good thing about this place is their open hours and that they are open on weekends but that is really it. They really need to improve in their quality and services. Also you don't see if your pet gets the shots as they take your pet to the back. My pets don't really like going there so it makes me wonder.

We took our dog to the vet to check for fleas. We met with Jasandeep, Ghuman who was assisting us. We explained to him that we have seen a bug that appeared to look like fleas. He recommended our dog take oral pill to help prevent the spread. We asked him ways we can prevent spread around our home and he told us to google it. We were very dumbfounded by his statement because he sounds very uneducated. When we ask him about the pricing of the medication. His narrcistic statement comes off very belittling. To sum it up, he thinks it is above his pay grade. Instead of a simple, “no I don't know the answer but the front desk would.” That would have been a humbling answer. We are very disappointed in the professionalism and the lack of knowledge he presented. He sure did not make you feel that you are being taking care of. Please practice empathy and humility!

This place will gouge you for every penny you've got. If you come in for a standard vaccine you'll leave paying at least $200. If you come in with goopy eyes they'll refuse to give eyedrops without a bunch of unnecessary and expensive tests.

DO NOT COME HERE!! Last week we took my niece cat to this office as she was in pain and not eating. They told us she has kidney failure and a mass in her stomach. We had the discussion with Cynthia that she would even if the object in her stomach passed she would indeed have kidney failure and need to be on weekly medication and an injection. With that we decided to put her to sleep. Upon arriving the do this a male nurse refused to put her to sleep and told us to give her fighting chance to bounce back. We questioned this as she was on fluids and pain meds. Said he wasn’t comfortable and if we wanted to do this we would have to have the doctor do it the next day. Day 2 in the hospital on meds and fluids they told us she was peeking up more and let’s do an ultrasound to see what the mass was and it was possible that if it was surgically removed her kidney function would improve. So we had some hope and we agreed. The ultrasound was supposed to come back by that evening. It did not. The next morning they told us her blood levels were great and she wasn’t in kidney failure anymore and that we should do surgery. We became even more hopeful that she is going to pull through this and felt thankful the nurse guy the first night refused to put her down. They recommended to get care credit as we had already charged thousands. After agreeing to surgery the next day the told us that the mass/object was moving slowly towards her colon and we didn’t need to do surgery. So after more days in the hospital, supposedly more tests, more meds and fluids she was doing great and kidneys where fine and could come home to p*** out the object. She did p*** out the mass whatever it was, but the next day was in the same state as when we brought her first in and they said she had kidney failure! We called another vet and told the Dr. whats gone on and she apologized and felt awful that we were most likely mislead as kidney failure doesn’t go away and would always need future treatment. We took her in to an emergency vet and ran more blood work and it was confirmed she was in kidney failure. After a week of agony for us and our cat. Being separated after 5 days in the hospital. An emotional tug of war from possibility loosing her to being told she was gonna be ok then back to her not being ok and almost $10k to this vet, we sadly had to put her down, end her suffering and enter the beginning of ours in the grief for us in loosing her! Especially after all this. We requested the discharge papers last night to give to the second vet office and did not receive them. This felt dirty from the first day to the next when the information on her condition kept changing. DO NOT TRUST THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL!!! you will loose your pet and end up $10k in debt.

Excellent experience. Front office staff of excellent. Plentiful, efficient, kind, empathetic. Both doctors and the surgeon were extremely experienced, calm and good listeners. I have zero complaints. They are an independent hospital and prices were reasonable for a complicated case.

My bunnies looked healthy and that's what matters most. They're always grumpy when they first get back home, but that's normal. Too bad they lost the cap on the medication though. It's tiny but now we can't keep the med relatively sanitized.

Trying to take deep breaths as I write this review. I've been taking my pup here for about a year now. Every time I've come, they included additional testing beyond treatment of care that doesn't add to a few dollars - it's hundreds of dollars. I've never left here paying less than $400 a visit. With the most recent being in the thousands! Additionally for any routine check up you will be here longer than you wait for your own doctor. Plan to send about 2 hours. They're is typically no one at the front desk and your left waiting at least 15 min or more before you are even seen. We're done - I strongly recommend you not taking your pet here as the competency has significantly declined since Covid - putting your pet at risk as well as your bank account.

Luca was almost dying due to bloody diarrheas' and vomiting. They diagnosed the emergency immediately and hospitalized him. They could fix him properly and on-time. I recommend them 100%.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS AND FAMILY TO ALTA VIEW! Read the reviews here and elsewhere. This animal hospital seems to be run by misbehaved, nasty, and disrespectful children. Adult supervision is needed ASAP! I am not returning and recommend that you take your pets and business elsewhere and save your family from the embarrassment of hearing men arguing as if they were at a bar. Maybe it is an age thing, and I am finally getting too old to hear these things flung around without regard to who is listening, but I just do not like hearing employees arguing in front of me, especially if they are going to curse and yell obscenities at each other. I spent a couple of weeks home-sitting for my daughter in Portola and had to bring my dog to have her eye checked. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews for Alta View Animal Hospital before calling and brought her in because it was close, and boy was that a HUGE MISTAKE! On the phone, they made me believe that if I brought her, she would be seen immediately because they had time in the schedule. THAT WAS NOT TRUE! While I was waiting in the lobby to get Genie checked in, the employees had a mean argument in the back rooms yelling obscenities at each other as if they were on the streets! I was not part of the argument, but I definitely felt horribly embarrassed. Even the girl at the front desk was embarrassed, and you could tell on her face that she was not comfortable, but there was nothing she could do. One of the men arguing turned out to be in charge of the place; go figure.

Our dog got spayed here. The surgery went fine, but when we went in for the check up 2 weeks later, they wouldn't let us go with our dog to see the vet. We never got to ask any questions to them either. They took her for no more than 2 minutes and came back saying everything was fine even though she has a hole that keeps bleeding and won't heal. Really got the sense that we got rushed away and that they didn't care at all. Not coming back and I don't recommend others to either.
