Dr Taylor does not care about your pet. He should look for a different occupation. He just wants to keep doing tests. Very poor communication about diagnosis. He yelled at his technician "PUT THE CAT IN THE ROOM!"

Dr. Taylor treated Tweet T. Boid, our canary, immediately after a horrible accident. Dr. Taylor was compassionate and professional, handling the situation expertly with Wendy’s help.I received medication and detailed instructions on how to care for him as he heals and Wendy was very considerate to call and check up on him. A few days later, he’s doing so much better and just took a bath!I had stupidly left his cage door opened and he got out when I was out of the house. Our cat dutifully retrieved him, but put too much pressure on him and caused some damage. I called many vets in the area, but none treated birds. I was so relieved when I finally reached Wendy at Miramonte Vet Hospital, who told me to bring him right over. Highly recommend!

I've been taking my animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens - to Miramonte Vet. Hospital since they opened about 25 years ago. My animals have received excellent care there which has run the gamut of routine shots and exams to surgeries, emergency visits and end of life care. Dr. Taylor is a real animal person, knowledgable and caring. He is good at explaining complicated diagnoses, options and treatments and always follows up to see how my animals are doing. The staff are helpful and kind.

Dr Taylor is dedicated, brilliant and compassionate towards all animals. He and his office staff are upfront with quotes for all medicines and procedures, they are accommodating, kind, and followup with every incident I've ever had. I travel 45-60 min every time to see him because none of the numerous vets nearby have a shadow of his skill. My bunnies Maggie, Yessiree and Runty are ever grateful to Dr Taylor and his staff.Ps: I'm rolling my eyes at a lot of these poor reviews I'm reading."They only help if you have money" -- no duh, it's a Veterinary, not a charity. Do you think the expertise, equipment and medicines they use are free?"The doctor has poor customer service" -- I entirely disagree, but even if he did, are you looking for a charming used cars salesman to make *you* feel good or are you looking for superb medical care for *your pet's* wellbeing?

My beautiful longhair cat Ambrose is now 20 years old. Dr. Kenton Taylor has been treating him since 2004, and he is the only reason my fancy little kitty is still alive.Ambrose has had many crises in his long life. Over the years, he had three surgeries, a spiral fracture in his back leg, tooth extractions and dental care, a thyroid problem, and he has had many urinary infections. At this late date, Dr. Taylor often runs tests to make sure other old age problems are not bothering him, and he leaves me very detailed messges on the results. In fact, whenever I know he is going to call, I let the call go to voicemail so I can play it back. It's great to have the specific information Dr. Taylor gives me to keep Ambrose healthy.Last year Ambrose developed a spinal problem that affected his grooming. He has lots of fur, and he ended up with lots of mats because it was too painful for him to take care of himself. But Dr. Taylor took a radiograph and figured out why he wasn't grooming properly. He prescribed pain medication that has totally fixed that problem. Fifteen minutes after I give him a dose, I can literally see him perk up - his whole posture changes, and his tail starts waving happily. And no more mats! He is old, but he's a very happy kitty camper.Dr. Taylor also hires wonderful assistants who are skilled at handling the pets, and they are very friendly too. Wendy, who manages the office, knows absolutely everything about pet care -- and this year Ashley and Grecia are his terrific helpers. They are confident and competent with my kitty, and will probably be great vets themselves one day because Dr. Taylor is probably a great teacher.Dr. Taylor also took care of my previous cat Squeak from the early 1990s until 2009. Squeak was also about 20 when he got so sick that I had to let him go. Dr. Taylor not only gave him the shot while I held him and said goodbye, but he helped me find a way to memorialize him. I remember sobbing in the treatment room, holding my kitty for at least an hour. I've never forgotten that cat; he too was a wonderful companion, and he wouldn't have lived as long without Dr. Taylor's knowledge and care.Dr. Taylor not only has decades of experience, but he has a sixth sense about animals. He's not a warm and fuzzy guy with people, but he is with animals, and he's very practical -- he just treats them quickly to make sure they are not suffering too much when he has to get urine or blood samples, or scrape tartar off their teeth. He's very focused on his work, and he's not going to talk to you about anything but your pets, so don't waste his time. All vet care is expensive, and there have been some great very complex advances in pet care, so don't think he's making huge profits at the expense of the animals. I'm not wealthy, but I don't economize on caring for my pets. Dr. Taylor's care is totally worth it.When Ambrose had a hyperthyroid problem, Dr. Taylor referred me to a specialist in Redwood City for a radiation treatment - and just a few days of care cost over $3500. But that was the cost of the CURE. Ambrose is fine now, but he wouldn't even have had the treatment if Dr. Taylor hadn't figured out through expensive testing that my kitty's thyroid was threatening his life. You can't go wrong if you bring your pets to Miramonte Veterinary Clinic, but if you do need financial assistance, try Pets in Need in Palo Alto. I've learned from a friend that they are very nice people.I hope Dr. Taylor will still be around for a long time before he retires. A lot of pets are alive and happy now because of his expert, compassionate care.

Horrible and shocking experience here. I brought one of my dogs here (3 months ago) because we had just moved and needed to get new flea and tick prescription. Dr. Taylor was extremely curt, didn’t introduce himself or even look me in the eye. From the exam room, I could hear him having a very sharp tongue with his staff and verbally abusing them outside the room. I could hear them nervously apologizing as well. There was a very odd and tense feeling amongst the staff due to his behavior and attitude. They all seemed nervous and tense because of him. This then translated to how they were handling my dog and the vet techs seemed incredibly stressed when holding my dog while Dr Taylor was examining him because I’m sure they had been yelled at about their technique before. I truly hope the staff can find jobs somewhere else at a less abusive work environment. He handled my dog extremely roughly, cranking on his neck. I said “please be careful, he often gets pinched nerves in his neck”. Dr. Taylor snapped back and said, “how do you know that?? You don’t know that.” In a very sharp tone. I told him it had been diagnosed by our last vet and he ignored me. My dog is one of the most chill and gentle dogs possible and he had the vet technician grip his muzzle and face so hard he was making wheezing noises and his eyes were turning red. I’ve been to many different vets and never seen anyone handle my dog like that before. He also asked about any other concerns and I told him my dog seems to be getting arthritis in his paw. He again replied extremely sharply and said, “how do you know that? You don’t know it’s arthritis unless you get x-rays”. While that is true, our other vet we saw before we moved plus the one I switched to now after this horrible experience have been reasonable about it likely being arthritis due to his history and older age. (Plus they weren’t rude). My husband was waiting with my other dog in the car, as we were planning on bringing him in next, and I called him saying I’m not going to let him touch our other dog and we needed to leave. Please don’t go here!! And I hope his staff can find somewhere else to work bc they were nice and don’t deserve how they’re treated.

Please find somewhere else to take your rabbits. We came here 2 years ago, so this review is a bit delayed, but at the time, I didn't want my review to affect any care we might need at the time. I noted down my experience at that time to post at a later date:We made an emergency appointment here, because our normal vet was completely booked. My rabbit was losing his balance and beginning to develop head tilt, which is an extremely time sensitive and severe issue. The vet tech here kept picking up our bunny with one hand under the stomach, even after two different people said to properly support him with both hands. He was unbalanced and squirmy, and I could just envision him trying to jump and falling and breaking his neck/spine. I sternly asked her to use both hands. She came back from a blood draw cradling him like a baby on his back in one arm, and put him back in his crate with one hand again, then pinned him down by the neck. I'm assuming she was trying to make sure he wouldn't jump out of his crate, but it was completely unnecessary, considering he couldn't even walk at the time due to his imbalance.Dr. Taylor knew how to hold him properly, but he was extremely rough with him. When the vet was giving him an overall exam and palpating his organs, the vet was digging his fingers into his abdomen very far, and when he handled him, it was like the vet was kind of nonchalantly tossing him around. I could tell my rabbit was in pain afterward - he was loudly grinding his teeth for the whole afternoon and evening, which he's never done before or after that day. I've never seen a vet be so careless and rough with /any/ animal, but he's a 2 pound rabbit, and he's coming to the vet specifically for balance issues. You should be taking extra care.Dr. Taylor also told us that after palpating his kidneys, that he had kidney failure, and that we should just make him comfortable until he passes. We said we'd get a second opinion from our normal vet. Once we saw our normal vet, he said his kidneys were fine. In fact, he's still living 2 years later (at age 9) with no kidney issues.Since we wanted to get some sort of treatment started for this time sensitive issue, Dr. Taylor gave our rabbit injectable Baytril, which caused sterile assesses (large scabs that caused bald spots). Our normal vet also discontinued this treatment and gave us standard oral EC meds.Dr. Taylor is listed on the House Rabbit Society webpage of rabbit savvy vets, but I would not take any rabbit there ever.Based on their responses to other negative reviews, I assume the office will try to say that they have no record of our visit or that we must be misremembering. But truly, if you have any other option for your rabbits, please bring them elsewhere. I don't leave negative reviews often. I'm just trying to spare you what happened to us.

HOW DARE MIRAMONTE! SHAMEFUL. Insensitive, disconcerting, disappointing, terribly unsympathetic and poor service and support. My young 5year old cat unexpectedly collapsed. Two days earlier the neighbor's cat who was also treated by Dr Taylor past away. The two cats had played together regularly. Veterinarian Dr Taylor would not take my call to help me understand what happened. The receptionist said maybe my cat was 'hit by a car"; my beloved furry family member was an indoor cat. I never received a condolence card or at minimum a single word of sympathy from the office. NOTHING. I did receive a condolence card from the local shelter where I had originally adopted my rescue. Miramonte told me "Well he's gone, there's nothing to do." To top it off I just recently got a "our records show your cat is overdue for an appointment" postcard in the mail from Miramonte. TERRIBLE!!

Dr Taylor & his staff have been taking care of my golden retriever for years now and I highly recommend them. They've always been very respectful & professional for all of our visits including routine check-ups, shots and the occasional emergency. When my dog needed TPLO surgery on both legs, Dr Taylor was excellent with the early diagnosis & plan, pre-surgery care, coordinating with the surgeon, and post-surgery care. They made the whole saga much less stressful than it might have been. Highly recommend them for your pets.

Came to this place because of the ratings but I would never come back here. They are very thorough, too thorough as they want to do every possible test costing me a fortune. They got my dog on Apoquel, special food all these other things, which they charge a lot for, compared to other places and won't give me the prescription to buy it from PetCo because it's not a trusted source. My dog only has an itch. When I went back to get more, even though it's only been three months, they want to do additional checkups and run more tests before they would give it to me. If you have a lot of money then come here otherwise I would look somewhere else.

After calling 11 different veterinarians all morning (plus 7 late night vets late last night), I finally found one that could see our sweet 2 year old Syrian hamster! They were able to see her immediately and quickly confirm that she was at her end of life ?They also warned me that the prognosis didn't sound good in advance before taking the $92 visit, which I appreciated. It was something we were prepared for given her age and decline in activity over the last couple of weeks, but we wanted to know for sure.It provided our family great solace knowing there wasn't much we could do and that she likely wasn't suffering. Dr. Taylor told us that she was not likely to respond well to any testing or treatment, and that the stress of that process could kill her.Given her unresponsive state and very low energy, Dr. Taylor and the kind lady working there (I think his assistant? Sorry I forgot your name!) both said that she was likely already in the process of passing ??️They gave us the choice to euthanize, but did not pressure the decision.Thank you for providing us with peace and clarity during this stressful moment ?Pictures of Nibbles in happier times and her visit to the vet today ?

If your pet is being treated here for cancer please get a second opinion asap! I feel this Vet and his front desk assistant Wendy (extremely rude ) use cancer as a scare tactic to extort additional money from caring pet owners. I have two separate appointment regarding different minor issues with my dog. Dr Taylor both times gave extensive explanations regarding his cancer suspicions and the need for additional costly testing and treatment. Example, my 13 yr old dog was limping with his front paw; x-rays were taken and I was told by the Dr. Taylor that he strongly suspected cancer. I could biopsy, start chemo if positive, but that does not always work, so amputation would likely be the best option. I said no to his far fetched diagnosis. He then said, if it’s an infection I’ll give you antibiotics and let’s see what happens. The next day with rest, my dog was good as new and has never had problems with his paw since. From this point on, whenever I called the office to have prescription medication and dog food refilled, I was told more then once by the receptionist Wendy “we can no longer supply these to you unless you follow the care plan for follow up testing that added up to $2,500”. I did want follow up lab work and I was told no by Wendy. You have to follow the care plan Dr. Taylor has for your dog. It is all or nothing. This is unheard of in the medical profession, let alone in veterinarian medicine. In my opinion there are many Ethical red flags regarding the practices of Dr. Taylor, DVM and his reception Wendy.

DO NOT bring your pets there. This vet does horrible things on your pets without your approval because they simply want to charge you money. My bird had some minor eye irritation, we brought it there and a few hours later it died.No matter what we said, their explanation was that the bird was already seriously sick. This was definitely not the case, the eye irritation was quite minor and the bird was eating and chirping fine. Our family now is heart broken and no one can give our bird back. If you love your pets, do not bring them there.

We took our tortoise here for care for a wound on her neck. Care was probably going to be quite adequate but there was absolutely no communication with the veterinarian concerning the procedure, risks, benefits, alternatives. We asked, and they flatly refused to provide this. The very pleasant assistant tried to answer questions for us, but did not have an adequate knowledge base to answer them fully. We were disappointed. We accepted their offer of a refund of our deposit and went elsewhere. This type of behavior is below the standard of care, and to us, is a red flag. Shop wisely.
