Literally awful place, before the all of the animals disappeared (lawsuit for animal abuse maybe?) They kept their smaller animals cramped together in tiny cages and bad conditions, I literally had to tell the employee working there that they should be refilling the gecko's water and when they did, they set the water back down right on one of the geckos, causing her to freak out. (Not all of the employees are bad some of them actually know what they are doing and I know they can't do much about the conditions petco keeps their animals) Not to mention all of the animals just look miserable and skinny, one of the crested geckos was severely much skinnier than her tank mates and was dehydrated, despite them all being the same age. (We adopted her she is doing great now that she actually has proper care) They also sell those beta fish that they keep in tiny cups and almost every single one of them look sick or hurt. Just a disgusting place, if you have access to literally any other pet store near you go there instead.

I definitely won't be coming back to this location ever again. Kayla groomed my dog and upcharged it to $100 because of the matting my dog has. Mind you, they initially said the grooming was booked for a long-haired, weighing over 20-something pounds which my dog isn't. Then once I had to explain over the phone (whilst I am international) that there was no way that would happen because it's a repeat of a treatment my dog had in Redwood City that just got rescheduled, they then went on to justify that it was because my dog had matting. I've had mattings on my dog in the past and never had to be charged $100, including their Redwood City location! What has this place come down to? Desperation over the expensive cost of living in the Bay Area?! You could've, at least, been upfront when we took her. I have now cancelled my Vital Care rewards and another BS I received was that apparently it is a yearly subscription and now I have to deal with paying $50/mo for 2 dogs for services that are not even beneficial!

You can definitely count on them for your pets needs.

Used to love this location, especially for the friendliness and love with which they treated my pups. Unfortunately, the grooming staff treated me and my puppy quite poorly. They: 1. Spoke to me condescendingly about the frequency with which I choose to groom my puppy and my choice to give him treats around the time of grooming 2. Were overbooked and took 2 hours to bathe my dog. This is longer than required and exposed my puppy to a longer bath than he needed or should have had 3. Told me that I should invest in a trainer for my puppy without asking for any context about his training. Respectfully, he has an experienced trainer who he has worked with in a private and group setting. Obviously, the issue was being professionally groomed for the first time, and this is something that the groomer should be equipped to handle. I understand that feedback from the grooming staff might be well-intended, but it simply came off as condescending and tone-deaf. These are not the type of people I want around my family and my young puppy. Sad because this was one of our favorite stores to hang out with our pup in!

We just adopted our sweet senior boy. He badly needed a bath and his nails trimmed. Petco took great care of our sweetie! The staff were really friendly and explained the whole process to us. Our dog was not nervous at all (despite being very nervous about our attempts at home baths and nail trims!). The cashiers were very nice and gave our doggy treats. He was really excited to pick out his post-groom bone.

Great place to shop, customer service was above and beyond. Very helpful. This will be my go to needs for everything from vet services, food and best of all the grooming department. Shout out to Kayla who made this first time pet mom to a Maltipoo, feel very comfortable and assured that Buddy's in great hands!

If you want to have a pleasant visit with nicer people, I recommend the Petsmart on Charleston. There's a difference between making sure someone is 'ready'/'prepared for a specific purchase and making someone nervous that they can't even answer questions properly. Thanks!

Made an appointment with the groomer Kayla for a haircut. 4 days later I found a cut scar under my pup’s front leg. Don’t think will ever come back again. This is truly dissatisfying and unprofessional.

I like to go here due to the convenient location. We visit once a month with our pup to get their treats after sampling the ones she likes. This is also a good place to get sample size kibbles to test which ones your dog likes before buying a full sized pack. She likes watching fishes, smelling dog food and knows the visit is solely for her. I wish there were more discounts available on items.

Just had a quick, pleasant, and professional experience checking out my cat food with Daniel at the register this morning. Thank you for everything you do for the mountain view community :)

Let me start off by saying I am someone who very rarely writes a review for a business of any kind, as they either require exceptional service, or exceptionally horrid service for me to review them. I had visited this Petco once before and had a similar experience as I did this time, however after my usual supplier(Petsmart) ran out of my dog's food I decided to give it another try, but it just reminded me of why I never came here again in the first place. When I first entered the store, I immediately noticed the lack of organization and the disinterested demeanor of the staff. When I approached an employee to ask for assistance, it took an agonizing 20 minutes for someone to finally acknowledge my presence, even after they said they had called someone. The staff seemed more preoccupied with their own conversations than with helping customers. When I was finally able to grab the attention of a staff member, the woman who assisted me was exceptionally rude and unfriendly. It was as if I was inconveniencing her by asking for help in a pet store. I found her lack of customer service skills appalling, especially considering the nature of the business. In my frustration, I sought out the manager, hoping for a more professional and empathetic response. Unfortunately, my encounter with the manager only further diminished my opinion of this establishment. Not only did he seem disinterested in addressing my concerns, but he also displayed a complete lack of care for the well-being of the animals in the store. It's disheartening to witness such negligence from someone in a managerial position, especially when dealing with living beings.I left the store feeling frustrated, disrespected, and concerned for the animals under their care. It's evident that the staff lacks the necessary training and the management is apathetic towards both customers and the animals they sell. I strongly advise pet owners to seek out alternative stores with more competent and compassionate staff for the well-being of their furry companions. Instead I recommend you drive the extra 4 minutes to the Petsmart nearby, because this Petco is a prime example of how not to run a pet store or any store.

I wanted to share my recent experience at Petco grooming, and unfortunately, it was far from pleasant. It was my first time there, and after picking up my dog, I noticed some concerning changes in her behavior. She seemed lethargic, kept shaking her head, and was not as active as usual. Worried, I decided to check her ears, and to my dismay, I found blood when using an ear wipe. This was especially distressing because my dog cried during the ear cleaning, something she had never done before. I can't help but express my frustration with the groomer responsible for her care. This experience has led me to the decision of not returning to Petco for grooming services.

Rude staff.Every couple months I buy a heavy bag of pet food and I need someone to carry it and put it into my car.I sometimes purchase at the Redwood City Petco and sometimes at the Mountain View Petco. The Redwood City Petco staff has always been prompt and courteous. This is the second time the staff at the Mountain View Petco have been rude.About 2 months ago I went to the Mountain View Petco. There were very few cars in the parking lot and no traffic. There are 2 handicapped spots with none in use. I backed into a handicapped spot to make it as easy as possible for the person to put the heavy bag into my trunk. I stayed in my car and was ready to move if 2 handicapped drivers arrived and wanted to park. The woman staff member criticized me about *3* times about the parking. This time I went there (and parked in a regular spot to avoid any parking criticism). I called in, heard the greeting, pressed 4 for curbside pickup, and the curbside line began ringing. I saw staff in the store wandering around. After 3 minutes of listening to the curbside line ringing, I went into the store with my phone still ringing the curbside pickup line. I stood in the store in one spot for another 3 minutes looking for help but got none. There was a cashier ringing up a customer. Finally he (white male w dark hair, Herman?) came over and asked what I wanted. I said I had an online order and had been waiting for 6 minutes for the curbside line to pick up. He told me sternly that I should have asked him for help (rather than him asking to help me). I asked him if he expected me to interrupt him while he was ringing up customers. He again told me I was wrong for not asking him for help. I again asked him if he expected me to interrupt him while he was ringing up customers. He again told me I was in the wrong for not asking him for help. He finally picked up my order and put it in my car. As he walked away he told me "be patient next time". I had not complained about waiting six minutes for the phone to be answered. I think I was more than patient and was not complaining about the wait. I found his comments and behavior incredibly rude.I will not be shopping at the Mountain View Petco again.

I checked the website before going to the store and it had what I needed but when I got there what I needed was NOT in stock. I was upset about this because I intentionally decided on that particular location because the other location closest to my home was short on staff the previous day and had to close 2 hours early.
