I am a 73 year old veteran with service connected injuries which VNA treated on a daily basis for 3 years. Most of the nurses were competent, professional LVN's and RN's. However, the nurse whom I got most often was a demon who was always chiding me to move faster. Since I am unable to stand or walk and have difficulty transferring, I could not move fast enough to please her. She took her frustrations out on my 14 year old nearly toothless female beagle and wrote a lengthy report claiming that my home was infested with fleas. The VNA told my doctor that they could no longer give me home wound care because their nurse did not feel safe in my home.I live alone. Jenny is my only companion. She doesn't hurt anyone and spends most of the day sleeping on the futon.Jenny (my little beagle) is bathed monthly and sprayed for fleas. I also give her a pill monthly which kills adult fleas and ticks. I refused to get rid of Jenny and the VNA got rid of me instead.Jenny and I are growing old together. These are our golden years. The VNA dog haters and elder abusive nurses can go elsewhere. We are better off without them.

RUN...if you respect the process of helping a loved one pass with dignity, patience and compassion: please find a different hospice!!! While we recieved all the drugs needed to keep my father comfortable, there was very little assistance for his personal care, hygiene or spiritual support. Within a 3 week period, he recieved assistance (bath) 3 times, nurse 3 times, was told a minister would be out (never happened). As he was starting to transition, I had to make several calls, begging for assistance. The nurse that came out confirmed that he was indeed 'transitioning' and that the family needed to NOT speak to him or be touching him, no oxygen or meds would be needed at this point. She was curt, abrupt, wrote her notes and left...1 1/2 days later he passed--I had to make 4 phone calls asking for help, since he passed and was laying there. We had to wait for 2.5 hours for someone to answer the phone and come to our home! Once there, the nurse immediately sat down on the couch, opened her lap top and started filling out her reports---all while I DISCONNECTED, WASHED HIM, COMBED HIS HAIR AND CHANGED HIS SHIRT. Once I was done, she asked if there was "anything that she could do to help"? WTF...was I suppose to make her a cup of tea??? The entire experience with this company was traumatic, exhausting and so beneath what my dad deserved or entrusted me to give to him. I'm surprised that they are still in business and hope that if you are reading this, that you will look into using ANOTHER AGENCY. In retrospect, I now know that my dad was nothing more than a Medicare check to VNA as they are understaffed, uncaring, cold, uneducated and--I guess just have nothing more than a job to perform. RUN!

This place has no scruples, is very unethical, deliberately over bills insurance companies, consistently over commits and under delivers, have no regard for people they are "caring" for and I am shocked this place hasn't folded. Do not under any circumstances hire this place, you will be extremely disappointed.

EXCELLENT NURSES AND STAFF. EVEN THOUGH THE HOME CARE SETTING USUALLY HAS INADEQUATE SUPPLIES, DIM LIGHTING, ERGONOMIC ANYTHING, LIMITED SPACE TO PERFORM NURSING DUTIES, AND IS EITHER VERY WARM OR VERY COLD. THE STAFF SMILES, SETTING ASIDE THEIR OWN PHYSICAL DISCOMFORTS, AND KEEPS THE FOCUS ON THE PATIENT AND THE NEEDS OF THE PATIENT.
