I wish I could give 0 stars. I’m a valley local, and I have a friend visiting from Spain who rented a car for a side trip to see the state. The old, possibly racist, geezer who was working the desk would not give him the car because he had never seen an international drivers license. Nor was he familiar with using a phone to process the credit card charge. He reacted, in my opinion, to my friend’s accent and asked him for a social security card. ?. Side note, my friend has one since he’s here working as a wine industry intern. I went in to try to reason with the guy and felt like I was in a scene from Deliverance. Good help is hard to find, I know, but you can at least educate your staff on modern day documents, and their international clientele in this very popular tourist destination for Europeans. Sheesh.

Not just truck rental, but a full-scale agency with cars of all classes, from economy thru premium categories. First time at this location was a winner for me. I'm a Budget business member. I typically use the Vallejo, CA agency. But this location had a significantly better rate for my booking than Vallejo, so I decided to go with Napa. Driving to wine country for any purpose never disappoints. Such a lovely overall area of Cali. Jackie, the lady running the agency treated me with courtesy & respect which was really appreciated. My car--a shiny blue metallic Nissan Sentra with only 20k miles--worked perfectly as a new car should. Major advantage of this location over several other agencies including Vallejo's is a handy after hours drop-off service. Park your return in the ample-sized lot surrounded by several new car dealerships and just drop your keys into the secure slot adjacent to the main entrance. This option worked supreme for me. Shhhh, but this location also has a free overnight accessible lot. Meaning you could--in theory & in practice--park your personal ride on their lot (loose gravel behind the agency and accessible via Silverado Trail). Drive off in your rental for the length of the reservation, returning anytime day or night to drive off your personal vehicle. But, I didn't work up the courage for that move, idk maybe another time? Personal cars left there overnight are at owner's risk of course. And of course, I always recco renters take out Damage Waiver Insurance for their rented cars. For the peace of mind of PRIMARY coverage, which differs significantly from SECONDARY coverage typically offered by your credit card. Something happens to your rental with Primary? Basically, just hand the agency the keys and they take care of it. Secondary coverage (if ever called upon via your credit card)=NIGHTMARE. You'll potentially loose a few years of your life in stress having to go that route! (Never happened to me but I'm hip to the fine print, potential pitfalls & repercussions of a damaged rental car without crucial primary coverage). This agency is also located conveniently on busy Soscal Ave. near major bus lines that can take you back to Vallejo (Line # 11) or even major transportation hubs like BART, SF Ferry, and beyond during normal transportation times: vinetransit.com. Great job Napa Budget!

Jackie at Budget/Avis on Soscol in Napa is an excellent service representative. She went far above and beyond today to make sure I was taken care of and had the best car available on the lot. She is patient, knowledgeable and extremely good at her job. Thank you very much, Jackie. I live in Napa and I look forward to returning to you for all my future rental needs.

We rented a 12 ' box truck from Budget. When my husband went to pick it up they forgot to include the dozen blankets I paid for. I tried calling the local place where we picked it up and got reservations. The person I talked to had no clue what I should do so I was transferred to another person who had no clue. He transferred me to another person and that number was disconnected! Decided I would just have them take off my credit card when I turn in the truck. We stopped at a motel for the night and there is NO way to lock up the back of the truck. Again I tried calling and was transferred to Road Side Service. Again the person who answered had no clue. Again I was transferred to someone and turned out it was reservation desk. Then he transferred me to Road Side service again and the same cycle started all over again. Their communication is terrible!! Will never use Budget again!!

So we have rented from here twice now and they do great job. The cars are in good shape (todays rental had 359 miles on it) and they are open on Sunday. Win win. Jackie gets you all squared away at the counter and the cars are close by and they have a night drop, great rental and in the heart of Napa!

I had great service, and Jackie was very helpful. I carelessly left my wallet in the glove box and left. I called, and she immediately ran to it, found it, and called me right away. Can't do better than that Avis outlet.

Worse service ever! I try to extend, due to work reasons! They overcharge buy over $500! Then they call me a liar! I took the car for 6 weeks, they charged me for 7! Now how to solve with corporate! Never again!

Horrible experience.Got a bad car from the airport. Was told our new car would be here at the Napa location but when arrived the man completely blew us off and said no. We drove an hour out of the way on our vacation just to have Mr. Dave Swan not give any help what so ever. Told us we had to call the number on the pamphlet and wouldn’t give me a card with his info. All in all, Avis sucks.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I recently rented a car for my trip to California. When I arrived, my family (including two toddlers) was given a car that was unsafe to drive (we were lucky the front tire didn't blow which could have caused a severe accident), but we didn't realize this until we reached our destination. The car NEVER should have been on the lot and I am still so unbelievably upset that my family was put in such danger. It took over 25 hours from the time I first contacted roadside assistance to get a working car that fit my family's needs. I spoke to at least 20 people, many of which did not know how to help me. The first replacement car I was given had only one working window with one stuck halfway down, meaning I did not feel safe leaving it anywhere, rendering it unusable. The second replacement was a car that was much too small to fit my family and our belongings. Yet because I sent the tow truck driver back with it knowing it was not acceptable, that created an issue with my rental agreement showing I was driving a car I never received. As a result I had to visit a rental counter (I was told I would have to go all the way back to SFO, but luckily was able to fix it in Napa). The woman (Jackie) who helped me at first insisted over the phone that she did not know how to fix the issue and I would need to contact AVIS to figure it out. When I went in person, she was the most condescending and antagonistic person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I admit that I was not the nicest on the phone as I had been dealing with the issue for a full 24 hours and was so beyond frustrated by the experience and the way I was being run around AVIS and getting absolutely nowhere. However, I was ready to calmly work with her when she made many comments about me being rude to her that were completely uncalled for. When I frustratedly put a piece of paper down that fell down onto the counter, she thought I threw it and threw it back in my face. When I set it down again, her lackey who said 0 actually helpful words to us threw it at me again. They then continued to talk about us in whispers while were standing right in front of them. When I told her that I had been through hell trying to get a new rental and was now being told I couldn't because of AVIS' mistake and that she needed to fix it, she condescendingly asked me "was that a please?" After everything I had been through, I had no more patience especially not for someone who was treating me like a petulant child. I had a pleasant experience with AVIS our first rental but after this I will NEVER rent with AVIS again. I spent the first day and part of the second of my vacation dealing with this issue instead of spending time with my family (including my toddler who was sick with an ear infection). AVIS ruined the first days of my vacation, and I will never forgive the danger my family was put in or the time I was forced to spend recitfying AVIS' mistakes.

We rented a vehicle thru Priceline and paid for the collision coverage. When my husband showed up with the reservation # and his ID and credit card Jackie said she needed 3 forms of ID and turned him away. Before that she kept him waiting, skipped him to help another Caucasian customer. She told him to transfer reservation to Fairfield. When I called Fairfield Budget I called to ask what we needed to facilitate a rental with a reservation we made online. He informed me that an ID and major credit card was all that was needed. He then called me back that Jackie at Napa called him and told him that in my husbands case to ask for a 3rd form of ID. He said it was out of his hands and to bring an additional ID. The lady at Napa was an older Caucasian and my husband a black male. I called the Budget main number to file a complaint of discrimination when I spoke to the receptionist she also confirmed that only a major credit card and ID was needed. I explained the situation, that my husband had not signed his credit card yet but was a simple fix by signing the card she agreed and she researched the locations requirements and they only requested an ID and credit card. THE FACT THAT THIS LADY WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FIR US TO GET A RENTAL IS SHAMEFUL. We came from Glendora Ca to visit family in Richmond and Suisun, our car broke down and had to leave it at the dealership here for service, to have this kind of treatment is horrible. I'm guilty of not signing my credit card but have never been turned away just asked to sign and proceed with my purchase. The complaints department was closed, but I will be escalating this incident.

Jackie, has no idea what a significant impact she had on my life last Sat, 8/14. I had promised my daughter and her friends at Chico State, that I'd be there to cook for them. Then I had to put my own car in the shop. They could not return it in time. Obviously, my daughter thought she would be let down. Not a great feeling as an only parent. I could not find a car on the quick anywhere. Not to mention no one answers the phone live, or they do not on the weekends at least. Having never rented a car before this was a new encounter. Finally called AVIS Napa, Jackie answered the phone live! No, no cars yet try back around 1:00pm she said enthusiastically. There was at least the smallest glimmer of hope at that moment. I, called back 1:00 on the dot. Jackie, being friendly says no, none yet. She was waiting for returns. Then, just then she said here comes one! How soon can you get her she asks. I'll be there in 10-15 min. She made the process easy breeze, was engaging. I told her my plight, she acted like she really cared. She even offered me fresh veggies & fruit to take to Chico w/ me. She not only saved me from becoming a deadbeat mom, she also helped me feed 8 hungry college students. Could not have asked for more. I am actually tearing up writing this, that is just how much Jackie's kindness meant to me. Thank you, Jackie!!! I'll sing your praises far & wide already in action! With heartfelt appreciation, Michele
