This place was perfect. Easy to self check in. Perfect location. Easy walk to town for dinner and drinks. Easy drive to any where. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet. So pleased with our choice to stay at the Hennessy House.

Do NOT Stay here. I have no idea how there are any decent reviews - this place is so bad that I left after my first night (booked 5 night stay) and was forced to pay the full amount anyway. I am currently paying for two places but wow am I happier than suffering through any more hours in that room. Tiny room with no space to even walk around and limited privacy. Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your Napa stay…the 5 star reviews here are fake, because there is no staff, they manage it remotely.
Rooms: Absolutely horrible, would never stay again

I give this place three stars mainly because of inconvenience and safety concerns, as well as that there is no service to speak of.You can't leave your bags here before or after checkout. It is unstaffed (except for breakfast), and under-maintained.When we arrived, the grounds were dangerously underlit (with a stump in the middle of one path and an abandoned box fan with a trailing cord on another). We could not find our room, and there was no one to turn to for help. Another guest finally found it for us: the problem turned out to be that it was unlit, unlabeled, and the gate latch was 6 ft above the ground, making it hard to distinguish from a blind wall (see photo of me touching a gatelatch positioned well above my head). There was no coffee in the room (there was supposed to be, but all that was left was to decafs and a weird toffee flavor). The "creamer" is Coffeemate. Something was wrong with the plumbing, (the tub never drained completely), and the room entrance really needs a floormat to keep mud off the carpet (see photo). There doesn't seem to be any way to submit a maintenance request so I'll just record it here:1) Replace either the batteries or the lights themselves in the solar-powered path lights. One reason the grounds were so badly under lit is because they're relying on subpar solar lights. It's winter and had been a cloudy day, so the batteries were too weak to light the path more than perhaps an hour or so. We arrived not long after Dusk, and they were already nearly dark.2) Instead of using a timer to control the secondary lighting - which left many essential places unlit in the early evening because of the end of daylight savings and the advance of winter - use a controller that responds to actual lighting conditions. Not only do seasons change, but there have been occasionally fires that rendered skies dark even in the daytime, and no doubt the future contains other emergencies. That said, the place is beautiful, and the rooms were sumptuous with great bedding and nice amenities like a private patio, fireplace, and giant tub with spa jets. Breakfast was fresh, nutritious, and tasty. Once they fix their maintenance issues and find a host (not being able to keep our bags there before and after checking out was worth a whole star to me), they'll be better than 3 stars (at least for these prices) again. But until they do, prospective guests should call and verify these problems are no longer creating issues for their convenience and safety and that they'll actually get what they're assuming they've paid for.TLDR You just can't be a five star place without a host, and there's not. It's dangerous for the first few hours after dusk Nov-Feb.Safety: Badly underlit. Trip hazards. No host.Noteworthy details: No host, no help, you can't leave your bags here.

The short of it: I gave this place 4 stars because I did genuinely like it. It deserves a solid 3. It needs a lot of work, but has much to offer as well. The staff (Charley especially) were great and cooked nice breakfast each morning. It would be nice to be able to either have a little more choice or input (no bacon for me, thanks) into the options. There is much about the place that is in serious need of repair; at times the hot water was barely warm, the shower in a claw-foot tub needs to go, the hvac in our room constantly put out cool air (we finally just used the electric heater in the room), the copper pipes need a good polish. But there is still a charm to the place and it is in a great location. The sheets were clean, hot water was available for tea, the breakfast was great (too late in the morning for me personally, but still delicious). I hope the owner spend some time and money and fix the place and services up properly for a much better all around experience.

Nous avons séjourné une nuit. Très confortable, maison charmante avec son style. Très bien située, proche du centre de Nappa. Bon petit déjeuner et personnel à votre écoute et sympathique.

Our recent experience was not consistent. The room was nice but the carpet looked like it was overdue for replacement. The air conditioner worked great and the bay windows brought in a lot of light. The parking lot, grounds and living room were well maintained. The breakfast was sub-par considering that most visitors to the Napa area expect more.

An awful experience. The room in the main house was far too small and the bed had zero support while the carriage house rooms were large but had equally uncomfortable beds. The shower curtains don’t give enough rooms to move around so it’s constantly sticking to your body. The breakfast wasn’t even up to par with an express hotel’s continental breakfast with the eggs ranging from overcooked to cold and the other items being of the absolute poorest quality. Avoid this bed & breakfast. It is not even close to worth the price.

The B and B was so close to downtown Napa! We stayed in the Fox room and it was great. The breakfasts in the morning was delicious. Overall, it was a charming and private place to stay!Walkability: It was about a quarter mile walk to downtown on a sidewalk. The whole walk was flat and felt very safe, especially through the neighborhood.

Ownership has changed. This place is not anywhere near the same as it was on a previous stay. Water for showering was either scalding hot or very cold. Plaster was falling off the ceiling in the Carriage house downstairs as we were showering obviously from the roof this is not a first time repair. This place is now ran by 20 year olds that have no idea how to run an upscale B&B. Received a text that alarm testing was going to be performed during our stay only to come back and find my room door completely wide open. Watch old posts you don't get what was previously offered and you do not get what is currently offered. Sad to say when in town and speaking with locals they also said "Yeah heard it went downhill after it sold". Expected hot water in the morning with coffee as told but was not available. Check in was at 4pm we did not get in until after 5pm and were told it was "busy". Not our issue but were expected to pay full price with so MANY issues. DO NOT STAY HERE. STAY ON THE RIVER. oH AND bugs.

Do not stay here. Water in the Carriage house is either very cold or VERT Hot. Tried to contact staff and they were never around except at breakfast. No one answered the bell at the check in desk. Upon arrival we were greeted by someone we thought looked like from off the street and never thought he was part of the B&B. The common outdoor seating area was occupied by "employees" their kids and family for a staff meeting. This was no staff meeting as 4 and 5 years are obviously not staff and no one was talking about work. This place has sold and changed hands it is not like before so be careful about older reviews. When the kitchen staff says oh hey practicing my cooking skills yikes definitively not what we signed up for given the cost. No better than a motel 6.

They charged $600 per night. We had NO HOT WATER for our entire stay- Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Instead of saying it was unlikely to come back during our stay and offering us refund so we could stay somewhere else and take a shower, they said it might be fixed and strung us along. They gave us $200 per night refund which still worked out to $400 per night. For no hot water. Overpriced and rubbish customer service. I understand water heaters break and it was unfortunate timing, but the way it was handled was atrocious. Avoid this place- it’s very poor value
