This place used to be good. I have been coming here for over 15 years. I have brought all my pets and referred others to this place. For the past month I have been trying to get my dog in for some flea medication but when I call they are booking a month out and do not have the following month open. I have been told I need to call back every month. They won't allow me to get medication because he's due for an annual exam. Before covid hit they were diligent in reaching out with appt reminders but have since stopped. I don't know when they got so horrible, but I after so much money and loyalty to them, I will be moving my pets elsewhere. Highly disappointed!

Had the best conversation with CHRISTIAN today. Was very worried about my dog who is a 9 year old German Shepard service dog and his swollen ear. Called all over town with no response. Finally I called CALIFORNIA PET HOSPITAL and was answered immediately by CHRISTIAN who not only eased my nerves and frustration he completely calmed my mind and gave me piece of mind to know my dog was not in any danger but were willing to provide me with the soonest appointment to have this problem reconciled and corrected! I give 10 stars to California pet hospital! Carlson.

We've been going to Napa Small Animal hospital since right after they opened years ago. So Imagine recently calling several times to be 'put on a brief hold' and each time ended up hanging up bc the wait was ridiculous. Since we live only several blocks away, i decided to pop in and make an appt for my dogs condition that needed attention. This was on May 7th - and was told the next available appt was May 25th! The problem with their change of guard, so to speak, is that the new owner(s) business plan is horribly flawed. Like a Dr office, when the patient load is too much, you stop taking new patients. Their office phones are being handled like calling into the IRS. Also, I made an appt to get the dog neutered a while back and the estimate was approx 950.00. I was able to go to a neighboring vet for 500.00. I quit!

My pup had what I thought was a medical emergency. I spoke to Dr. Dorothy Dyson on the phone, who told me to bring the pup in. Upon arrival, we were promptly assisted by George. George was general and thorough. Dr. Dyson came in the room and spent time with the pup to help get a better understanding of what was going on. After the exam and a blood draw, it was determined the pup would be okay. The blood results indicated a separate issue in which Dr. Dyson offered 3 options for solution. I appreciated the 3 options because they varied in intensity and cost. I opted for the middle course of action. I appreciated the options approach as opposed to giving me the highest cost solution and calling it a day. My experience here with all of the staff was positive. I especially appreciate Dr. Dyson and George. Thank you!

This place has been amazing to me so far. Every time I've had an emergency issue they have been able to get to me in that day. When my cat was sick they did their best to help her get better and when she was not getting better on the medication they agreed to have her put down. No fight on their part to try and get more money like I've had with other vets.

I adopted a shelter dog four months ago. There is a shortage of veterinarians taking new patients in our community. I took my 8 year old pit bull mix today for his skin allergies. The entire team were so friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Nate spent quality time with me to discuss treatment plan options. I'm impressed with this pet healthcare team!

Big huge shout out to Jasmine! She is always so helpful and understanding. Even more so this last week. My husband was so worried about our kitty getting some teeth out and she was super kind and empathetic! And very understanding when he said that he wanted to wait. We moved to Napa recently from Calistoga and are relieved and happy that we found a great place to bring out sweet Bentley.

How they even have 4 stars is an accomplishment for a veterinarian hospital as bad as this one. The s*** show starts with the "CSR lead" Jasmine. She's a JOKE, rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. They're all on different pages. The manager is very nice but must not have much management experience seeing as they put someone of such a low caliber as their "lead". The manager is obviously too comfortable on her seat in her office. When you have such a high turn over, promote someone like Jasmine since there is nobody else. Dr. Mary... don't get me started. Ha! Doesn't care about an animal or person unless you know her personally. Save your money. Go ANYWHERE else!

They are terrible. They used to be very good until they sold out to a large company that owns vet clinics. We had used them for 8 years and it's such an unfortunate change. Dr. Mary is hardly there. The other vets are recent vet school graduates with no experience. We had a sick dog and the earliest they could see her was in one week. That's after we have been patients for over 8 years with multiple dogs. We asked if we could speak on the phone to a vet and guess what..... They never called us back. Frankly, we are done with them.

I have always loved this vet clinic but I needed more medicine for a previously diagnosed condition with our Newfoundland. So they said he needs to come in for a exam first, fine... we make an appt for the earliest available time they had, we didn't have enough medicine left and they knew that. We go and we make sure to be clear that this is an exam for the medicine but we will get the vaccinations they stated he needs as well. When they were done they told us the medicine would be called in and asked which pharmacy, we told them and took him home... when we went it was denied by the vet and they stated he needed an exam first.. we went over we just did that. Flat refusal from them..

We want to thank Dr. Mary and her very kind and compassionate staff for their care and comfort in helping us deal with ending the pain and last stage of life for our "Larry the Kat". He gave Warren 17 years of fun and companionship. He shared his warmth and acceptance of hugs and many pets with Judy and "tolerated" our Great Dane Heidi. Dr. Mary helped and assured us that we were doing the best for Larry...to let him go. Thank you Dr. Mary and everyone.

I have been taking my cats to this veterinarian since moving to Napa in 2003. We have spent thousands of dollars here, in fact we did just this year. I wanted to pick up the metabolic cat food, but my debit card had been stolen. I asked if I could pay in cash. I was told that I could only pay in exact change and was given no other options. So, no cat food for my cats. They could have offered any option or resolution but did not. The person who answered the phone left me on hold so long another person answered the phone. I will be finding a new veterinarian who can provide options for a $30 bag of food.

Run far, run fast. Far and away the worst veterinary hospital experience of my life. I have a very ill cat who has hyperthyroidism and liver disease. She is a pain to pill so I opted to switch her thyroid medication from a pill to a transdermal. My cat's vet was Dr. Katy Wilson, who I have found to be competent and caring. She wrote down the prescription for me to order via their online pharmacy. And that's where everything went very wrong. The prescription was declined as "incorrect" and changed. I noticed that the dosage was different, but naively placed my trust in the place with people with veterinary degrees, since my veterinary degree is courtesy of the University of Google. I thought that maybe the strength needed to be different in this particular transdermal application. And then my already ill cat stopped eating, vomited and seemed "off" after being given the second dose of the transdermal med., so I questioned the dosage. Long story short, the dosage was more than double what it should have been. I was told to withhold medication (this was a Sunday) and the issue would be resolved on Monday. Dr. Katy was not in the office on Monday, so I spoke with the hospital administrator, who couldn't have been more blase and unconcerned. She said she would discuss with the medical director and get back to me...I'm still waiting five days later. When I went to pick up my cat's records the next day, since she will never be treated at Napa Small Animal again, I found out that Dr. Katy was contacted on Monday and gave specific directions on what to do, but those directions were simply ignored and I was not followed up with as promised. No sense of urgency, despite the fact that they overdosed my cat and she was currently unmedicated. I also found out that a different vet changed the prescription without consulting with Dr. Katy. And yet, Dr. Katy's name is on the prescription. Is that even legal?!? Having vets override each other with no communication is reason enough never to return. What if my cat had been on medication that at more than double the dosage could have caused long-term harm, or worse? What if I hadn't realized it was wrong and kept giving it to her? A hospital that is both negligent and uncaring...thanks, I'll pass. And to add insult to injury, their billing department told me "they'd see what they could do" about refunding me for the wrong medication...and then never called me back. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

This is my first 1 star review, but I just can't let anyone else experience this terrible place. Short version: don't waste your time or money here. They overbook and have so many doctors, there's a slim chance you'll get the same one which doesn't allow for them to get to know your pet and its specific needs. The other reviews are spot on with the rude front desk staff and Hannah was especially condescending and frustrating to try to talk with. If you care about getting your pets the best care, don't bring them here. Long version: we are obviously obsessed with our dogs and want the best care for them. Our old vet in SoCal was pretty hard to beat and we wanted to try out Napa Small Animal Hospital since we just moved up here. Our dogs have always had food sensitivities and we came in for a consult about their food. Gave them their entire history and told them that specifically chicken doesn't agree with them. They didn't give us any answers other than "well, we don't have many samples, but here's a couple to try". It was chicken flavored and after asking a few times if it would hurt them since they have food sensitivities to chicken, she told me it was hydrolyzed and wouldn't give them issues, sent us on our way with pretty much no actual answer but just a can of food to try.... Woke up this morning to explosive diarrhea everywhere and I've been cleaning up my poor dogs' crap every 30 minutes all day today. I called this morning and explained what was going on and to see if they could give them a medication to stop them from pooping their little brains out and for a probiotic to get their tummies back to normal. Nope, Hannah told me to just put them on a bland diet of.... are you ready for it? Boiled chicken. Were you listening to anything?! She talked to the vet (a different one than the one we saw since there's so many of them) who ordered a fecal test to check and see "what they got into". I'm not spending a few more hundred bucks to find out that it was from the food you gave us since there's so many doctors, you just generalize treatment which we are not about. I asked to speak to the vet directly and she told me she'd give me a call today. Over six hours later and no call. I told Hannah my dogs are clearly in a ton of discomfort and want to get them the proper medication and she couldn't have cared less. These people don't care about your pets and certainly don't care about anything you have to say. I've had only amazing experiences with places up in Napa until these people. If you care about your pets at all, don't bring them here.
