i am new to the Umpqua Bank. I changed from previous Bank because of need for drive up service. Casey handled my account perfectly. My only wish is that they would change name from Umpqua to something easier to pronounce and spell. But you can't have everything.

My income was $234k I only have a $5k a month house payment and no other debt. Net worth of $3 million . No problem they said. These people are idiots. I'm taking my money $200k ,somewhere they will work with me, not against me

Deposited my check in the wrong account causing me to miss my insurance payment. Had to have them write a letter to my insurance agent complaining what happened and it was written completely unprofessionally with every other word pretty much misspelled!

I'm not a customer - my mother was before she died. I'm extremely underwhelmed with the customer service of the Bel Aire branch of Umpqua Bank. Before my mother died, she asked me to empty the contents of her safe deposit box. I was not a signer on the account so I contacted the branch and asked how we would go about adding me as a signer on the account. They said the only way was for my mother, who was sick, disabled and unable to leave her home, to come to the branch in person. I explained she physically was unable to go anywhere and that she wanted to do the paperwork at home and have it notarized. They said no, unless she could come to the branch in person, she was out of luck. In other words, they knowingly discriminate against the disabled. If you have a safe deposit box and become disabled and cannot go to the branch in person, you will NEVER be allowed to have access to the contents of your box for the rest of your life unless you had the foresight to add another person to the signature card so that person can access it on your behalf. After my mother died, I filled out paperwork given to me by a different Umpqua branch in order to take over her bank accounts at that branch. Please note: this was UMPQUA paperwork notarized by UMPQUA. Yesterday I took this Umpqua-provided and Umpqua-notarized paperwork to the Umpqua Bel Aire in order to take control of my mother's safe deposit box. The Bel Aire branch would not accept it on the grounds that it did not offer proof that my mother's estate was worth less than $150,000. (In California, estates valued under $150,000 don't have to go through probate.) I was told to "go to the Napa courthouse" and get a small estate affidavit. I made some phone calls and was told which document to get and where to download it. Guess what, it was identical to the notarized Umpqua document that the Bel Aire branch rejected the day before. So I had the new form notarized by Umpqua (which confused their notary who wondered why I was once again signing a virtually identical document as the one notarized the previous day.) Bel Aire Umpqua didn't like the new document either because it "doesn't prove that your mother's estate is less than $150,000". Ok, at least I now knew what their problem is. They might have mentioned that this was the issue when they rejected the previous paperwork the day before and told me to go to the Napa courthouse. I asked them to tell me exactly which form they need and requested a copy or a picture of it and asked specifically which person or department to talk to at the Napa courthouse who can make a determination that my mom's estate is worth less than $150,000 and requested all other information I would need to get. They couldn't tell me exactly what they wanted or how to get it. They just insisted I needed to have the court prove the estate is worth less than $150,000. In other words, they want Mom's estate to go through probate so the court can determine that its value is less than $150,000 and therefore doesn't need to go through probate. When I asked for specific instructions they didn't have, The bank associate decided to call the Umpqua legal department. Listening to one side of the conversation, it was very clear that Umpqua has zero written policies for transferring the contents in the safe deposit box of a deceased customer to an heir and they were figuring out/making up their requirements on the fly. After the better part of an hour on the phone with their legal department, they decided that I didn't need to go to the Napa courthouse after all. Instead, the newly made up procedure is this: they will open my mother's safe deposit box with the associate, manager and myself present and do an inventory of the contents to make sure the total value is worth less than $150,000. Then they will lock up the contents again. Provided the contents have a value of less than $150,000, I'm to redo the same pa

Friendly staff knows many of the customers by first name, always helpful. Been coming here since Vintage Bank, 25 years ago. All the fees are a bit petty but we all need to make money.
