Super cool shop with tons of wine selection and a decent amount of spirits selection. Had a good conversation with an individual name Scott, who was very friendly and knowledgeable of all sorts of spirits. I did end up picking a bottle of the Iwai with the wine cask finish. I hope to come back here again next time in I'm the area.

Great stop in Nevada City! Cal is extremely knowledgeable about wine and will always share hidden gems. He does a different theme tasting each week which always consists of excellent wines!

Unique wines . Mr Carrington knows his wines. Quaint shop And nice township to stroll around. Mr Carrington is serious about his wines. Approach him with that in mind and he begins to unwind starting with a small smirk. Then he shares stories of all the wine folks he knows. And he knows a lot! As well, if he is out of stock at the moment, don't worry, he'll follow up with you when it comes in. I have an order of Javier cab ( a bit hard to get the right years) and Cal contacted me 6 weeks later with it. He is a go to for wine

Definitely check this wine store out!! I recommend a nice afternoon of wine tasting. We stopped in and were met by Cal, the gentleman that manages the store. The store sponsors a tasting of nine (9) various wines, which rotate each week. This week we did the pinot grigio. All of them were well selected and delicious. Representing various vineyards from Oregon, Napa, and SLO County. We decided to purchase four bottles and enjoyed them over our extended weekend. There is a very large and diverse selection of wines available in the store. Cal provides expert commentary on all of the wines, and in many instances, directly knows the winemakers themselves, offering a more in depth commentary of the particular wine-making process. Whether your first time, or an expert, this site will be a memorable experience! Cheers!

The owner was incredibly friendly and informative. Everyone was very friendly including some regulars who offered to share some snacks while we did a wine tasting. We loved all the wine we purchased and will absolutely be back.

This place is the best! The owner is super helpful, and the wines are amazing! I've had him pick wines for 2 of my dinner parties so far (4 different wines for each), as well as a wine tasting (flight of 7 wines), and his suggestions have been really reasonable price-wise (less than $20/bottle), fantastic wines, and really well-matched to the menu. I live in the Sacramento area and have tried many many wine shops, and happened to stop in here while on a trip to Nevada City. This is now my go-to place for buying wine-- great service, great selection, and great suggestions!

The best wine tasting I have ever done. Although it's $20 per tasting, it is so worth it. He pours really high class wines (he poured us a tasting from a bottle that was $79) and he gives you generous pours and lots of them. I really, really enjoyed talking to the owner - he was super down to earth and definitely knew his stuff. Didn't pressure me into buying (even though I walked out with two bottles because his tasting was so delicious) I will definitely be back :)

I come here every time I'm in Nevada city, which is like once a month. I truly look forward to it because you are always guaranteed to walk out with something great! His wine tastings are the best I have ever had! And man, this guy knows a lot about wine. The stories that come with the wine are part of the flavor of this establishment, as well. Ask questions! He's got an answer for everything and you will walk away a more savvy and thirsty person!

We come up at least 2x a yr-for the expensive reds tastings in dec forrrrrr sure!! Cal is very informative & he can advise you about little "secrets" that he may have in the back. Lots of rare fines--bring your credit card, you will NOT be sorry!! (Tell him I said "hi") His prices depend on your taste buds..$ to $$$$$$

This is a lovely, quaint wine store in Nevada City with a large variety of good wines. Friends suggested that we try the tastings. We were pleasantly surprised. For a nominal fee you can taste really good wines from a variety of vineyards. They try to have a theme each week for their tastings and the owner is very knowledgeable and provides background stories with many of the wines. We will definitely go back.
