A delightful 12 unit strip hotel that is tastefully decorated according to room. It is situated next to a babbling brook and is located on a sleepy little road that leads right into town. I am handicapped, and I still had no problems going into town and coming back on foot. I will definitely be staying here again.Rooms: Cute themed rooms. Normally when I think of “themed rooms” I imagine something tacky and possibly adult themed. This is not that. Tastefully done with matching drapes and artwork where applicable, the rooms are charming and welcoming. They are quaint, and if you are a techno-lord from silicone valley, you will be quite disappointed. If you are such, please go home and leave Nevada City to the rest of us, and thanks for coming and never returning again! For the rest of us, we will be absolutely delighted.Nearby activities: I don’t know why I clicked this…. If you don’t know about the activities, I don’t want to spoil it for you. I’ll give you some highlights though. Your first stop on your walk into town is the Cacao/Coffee place on your right. I recommend the Oaxacan Hot Chocolate. Most of the family friendly activities close at 5:00 sharp; this is when the boo-boos come out (see “Safety” above).Safety: I use the term “Boo-boo.” These people are sort of a cross between hobos, tweakers, and lifetime stoners. The Boo-boos come out just after dark, and they roost around Nevada City like crows. This property was boo-boo free, and the boo-boos do not manage to climb the slight hill that leads to this property.Walkability: I was born with one leg and I walk with forearm crutches. This location is located about three tenths of a mile from the very heart of Nevada City. For me, it was easy to come and go to the nearest grocery store and all the other locations that make Nevada City so special.

Rooms are unique & in keeping with Gold Country. Gita is kind & a good manager. Location is close to business district so visitors don’t have to search for parking outside the Outside Inn.

I have stayed at the Ouside Inn many times over the last 15 years. Cute. Charming. Exceptionally Clean. So many sweet details in each room. just not your ordinary hotel/motel room and part of its charm! A short walk to town. A short drive to outdoor activities. Simply the best place to stay in the area!

Outside Inn is a place I'll return to again and again. Gita is a wonderful host. The location is in town, but far enough away that it's quiet.

Clean and cozy at a reasonable price, and so close to downtown historic area. Nice outside sitting areas, with a fire ring and plenty of firewood. Bed comfortable. Loved it!Rooms: Clean and quaint. Full wall painted/papered with a nice autumn scene. It's clear the proprietors care.Nearby activities: The refurbished National Hotel is beautiful and we were welcomed by Kyle to tour all 3 floors. Good places to eat.Walkability: Short walk to historic downtown.

Couldn’t believe the quality for the price. Our cabin was so charming. Beautifully made with such cute touches. Very clean and tucked away so it was nice and private and quiet. We were absolutely blown away. Very nice couple that owns the place, so friendly. Definitely my new spot to stay when visiting.

Great unique room to close to town. The grounds were pretty with some great areas to sit outside. Gita the owner was very nice. Good vibe!! Even have a community produce share area... We got a few great apples!!

Great location, nicely decorated rooms. This was an old motor court motel. I like what they have done.I had a non-working refrigerator and they upgraded me from the very small 3 1/2 room to room 3. Nice people and clean rooms. Unique check in, but it works!Nearby activities: Nevada city is a great destination. I love the Victorian houses, antiques, stunning views, history and food.

This was a nice, quiet place with character. Our group booked several rooms and the cabin for a wedding party. One of the grandmas had the rock room and the rock climbing wall was a hit for the grands. There is a nice grassy area with picnic tables and barbecues on the property. The pool looks nice, but it was closed when we stayed. Some of the units had back doors that led to cute little patios. It was close to down town and pioneer park. The owners are super nice, accommodating and provided good conversation. In our experience the king rooms had nicer sheets and comforters, but the other rooms were decent too.

Loved Outside Inn. Stayed for the first time ever the last weekend in October to celebrate our 31st anniversary. The place was happily decorated for the holiday. Quiet, clean, well-managed. A nostalgic, 40's era motor inn, lovingly kept up. It's so nice, I'd like to keep it a secret. Location is great -- just a few blocks' walk to the heart of Nevada City. We'll be back!

Nothing beats Nevada City's Outside Inn as far as hospitality, friendliness, closeness to great little shops and cafes, and the beauty of the leaves in the fall. This is our favorite getaway for a number of years now. The new owners are trying hard to keep the motel the way the previous owners did...great decor, updates, warmth and welcoming attitude.
