Arrived in a bar that seemed abandoned... a guy at the back sitting on the bench getting drunk, no welcome, nothing... the impression of arriving in a squat, nothing to do with my visit ago 6 years... don't take unnecessary detours, that's my

There is a Wonderhussy YouTube episode regarding the Bagdad Cafe on today's date. The owner, a lovely 83 year old woman named Andrea, and her helper Mark are trying to put the place back to rights so they can reopen in April. Watch the YouTube for a link to a GoFundMe if you're interested in helping these folks preserve a landmark!

As a good tourist on route 66, I was very impatient to stop at Badad Café! I thought I would arrive in a Chinese trinket store bearing the image of the film and run by a few employees who had nothing to worry about and were in a hurry to finish their day to watch Netflix while drinking their Bud. Yes, yes, the good old big cliché!Well, I was there for my prejudices. The bouiboui is planted there, in the middle of nowhere. Not a car in the parking lot, no light, in fact nothing, except this very small, dusty and dilapidated building. We push the door, we enter, and there: we are propelled into this kind of timeless place. Walls covered with photos, coats of arms from the four corners of the world and 1 dollar bills. Behind the bar, a middle-aged guy with a sore eye who sees you arrive there not really knowing what behavior to adopt and who seems to revel in it. After these moments when we measure each other, the conversation begins, we drink a beer, we chat. He explains to us that hey, we need someone to be there and that we can do what we want. Ok, photo session, music from the film Bagdad café in the background, drop off a ticket. Re beer with the ultimately very friendly host of the place, gulp of vodka in his reserve. A laugh, we high-five and we hit the road again. Don't worry, the driver was sober. In short, an experience suspended in interstellar space as we like them.

Its a monument. Dont plan on eating here. Poor little old lady greeted us lookin like she just rolled outta bed. She said its " not really open"..This place could be a gold mine. Hopefully her family will step up and save this little place.Watch out for her dogs. They'll chase you down the road! ?
